Reflexology Blog on the Skeletal System – Bottom Line Information and Essential Oils You Can Use
“There is an intimate and dynamic relationship between what is going on in your life, with your feelings and thoughts, and what happens in your body.” – Deb Shapiro
The bones in the body are interconnected. If one of them is injured the others will be affected. If a client has back, neck or shoulder pain, work all of the skeletal reflexes.
Back injuries and illnesses are strongly connected to spiritual and emotional events.
Broken bones are often highly spiritual events in the life of a person. This is especially true of broken feet, ankles, hands, wrists, etc. It’s our hands, wrists, feet, and ankles, that move us forward in life. when a person is having trouble moving forward in life or is having problems resolving a destiny issue, the result is often a broken or sprained ankle or wrist. This event allows the person a “time out” to rest, reflect, rejuvenate, before getting on with the task at hand.
Essential oils to use with the skeletal system include basil, clove, copaiba, cypress, frankincense, Idaho balsam fir, marjoram, myrrh, nutmeg, peppermint, pine, rosemary, spruce, thyme, wintergreen.
For the spiritual issues connected with skeletal injuries, diseases, Idaho balsam fir, frankincense, myrrh, and pine are good choices.

Reflexology Blog – The Skeletal System
Our skeletal system is very important to us. Without our bones, we wouldn’t have any support to shape and protect our bodies and we wouldn’t have any protection for our internal organs. Our bodies would move in entirely different ways than they do with bones. Think jelly fish.
Our bones help produce blood cells and store minerals such as calcium and phosphorus. They release these minerals when we need them.
As we age, we become more aware of the importance of our bones and joints as they begin to wear out and/or become diseased. Lucky is the person who discovers the advantages of Reflexology for the Spirit before the skeletal system health issues become too advanced.
Bone and joint health are very important to a Reflexology for the Spirit practitioner because regular sessions can impact your client partner’s well being.
If a person comes to you with a skeletal injury (back or neck pain, for instance) your skills can have a positive effect provided the person is open to Reflexology for the Spirit. However, if a person comes to you in pain and you feel that s/he wants to see a doctor, chiropractor, massage therapist, etc., send him/her along with your blessings.
People with back or neck issues have ideas about which therapy will provide the best results. Often these ideas are emotionally and spiritually based. With spinal issues, these attitudes are very important. They often determine the outcome of the therapy.

A Meditation: Journey to the stars. Find an angel.
Turn off the phone.
Close the doors.
Turn on some quiet, meditative music.
Get comfortable and relax. Breathe deeply as your entire body settles down.
You are in a very ornate elevator now…riding up. Count the floors. One. Two. Three. Four. Keep counting. Allow your breathing and body to relax. Just let go. Feel yourself relaxing and letting go. Feel yourself becoming lighter.
PAUSE
Now, as you are becoming more and more relaxed, you realize that you are not in an elevator anymore. You are in a beautiful bubble…this beautiful bubble has an iridescent shine. This bubble protects you and propels you up and up into the sky. This bubble is filled with energy of the cosmos…of heaven.
You look down below you and see tree tops, roof tops, busy highways, beautiful green meadows, patches of forest…As you travel higher and higher, you know that you’ll return to earth when you are ready.
You find yourself traveling higher and higher through puffy clouds.
PAUSE
Soon you can see the earth. You see it with a soft glow. You continue to float up, up, and away. You climb higher and higher and higher in this bubble and you begin to see stars and planets.
You begin to hear a faint sound…the sound of angels singing. You notice that you have never heard such beautiful music in your entire life. Your surroundings in the bubble are taking on a special light. You feel that you are surrounded with love, happiness, harmony, peace. You want to stay here. You feel you have come home.
Take note of what this space looks like. What colors do you see? The sounds of the angels singing and playing music are becoming more and more clear.
You begin to notice you are seeing wings and faces of angels that you feel as if you know and have known for ages. One angel steps up to you. This angel has a message for you. Quietly listen and remember what the angel has to say to you. Take note of how this angel looks to you. What are the colors surrounding this angel? How does the space inside the bubble look now? What feelings are you experiencing now?
PAUSE
This event: the angels – the message – the music – the colors – the feelings have been a blissful homecoming. You have encountered a holy space. You will remember this space to return to in the future for strength, nourishment.
You have been blessed. You accept the gifts of love, light, happiness, health, that have been given to you here.
Your bubble begins to slowly descend toward the earth. You travel through the stars and planets and clouds.
Once again you see the earth. You realize this planet needs healing and you begin to send healing thoughts, prayers, energy to the planet earth. You choose a spot on the earth and focus the energy there.
As you send energy, you envision health, wholeness, wellness, balance, unconditional love. Just as the Mother Earth has nurtures all living things, you send a healing intention to the planet earth.
You continue traveling to the planet filled with a sense of calm and peace.
As you gently return to this room, you remember the message you received. You feel refreshed, healed, rejuvenated, happy to have received your angelic message and happy to share the healing with the planet.

No Section Covering the Nervous System is Complete Without a Post Focusing on Fear
Fear is very definitely an emotion impacting the nervous system. People fear the future based on their past experiences and, for some, this includes past life experiences.
Fear is an emotion locking a person into negativity.
Fear prevents us from moving forward.
Fear is a component in issues involving our first and second chakras.
Fear prohibits trust.
Fear is a component in the saboteur archtype.
Fear does not permit a person to love.
Everyone experiences fear.
Many people visiting a Reflexology for the Spirit practitioner are suffering with fear. It manifests itself in illnesses such as back pain, insomnia, sciatica, ulcers.
So, what do we as practitioners do when we recognize fear on our table?
We do five things:
We encourage the person to seek competent medical care to treat the physical condition.
We work to make the person feel safe while on the table. When the person feels safe, homeostasis will begin to occur.
We offer guided meditations in addition to the reflexology.
We offer Reiki therapy.
As the person achieves homeostasis and begins to feel less fearful, we encourage them to keep coming to our tables – a safe haven.
Eventually the person is going to realize where the fear is coming from. Eventually the person will be ready to overcome fear.

Reflexology for the Spirit sessions can offer relief for pain’s many causes. 8 Questions to Ask the Pain Sufferer.
Pain in any part of your body is a signal that you are off balance somehow. Homeostasis needs to be returned to your body. Do not ignore your pain. It has something to say to you. Let it have a voice.
There are several questions which a Reflexology for the Spirit practitioner needs to ask the client partner:
Where is the pain?
How long have you had this pain?
How does it manifest itself? Does it “come and go”? Does the pain appear when you move a certain way?”
What color is this pain?
What does the pain feel like? Is it sharp? Is it like “pins and needles”? Is it a dull throb?
What does this pain look like?
Does this pain have a voice? What does it say?
What do you need to do to release this pain?
As a reflexology for the spirit practitioner, work the feet in such a way as to nurture the whole person: the physical, mental, spiritual, emotional, genetic person.
We know there is pain when we encounter resistance anywhere in the foot. Our job as a practitioner is to support the client partner on the journey to finding the cause, and dealing with the issues, not only physically but spiritually. We also need to help our client partners release the pain as they release the past which may be causing the pain.
The client partner needs to address the physical issues: seeing a physician, physical therapist, massage therapist is very important. As those physical issues are dealt with, the reflexologist works with mental, emotional, spiritual issues.

Headaches Can Be Spiritual Events – 8 Things to Do.
Regularly occurring headaches need to be checked by a medical professional. If you are having headaches, start a small headache diary. You need to be able to tell your healthcare professional the following information about your headaches:
where they occur on the head,
how long each headache lasts, how severe it is.
You need to be aware of the foods you are eating. Some people feel that two foods contributing to headaches are wheat and dairy products. If you feel food is a contributing factor, you can try totally avoiding wheat for six weeks and see what happens. After six weeks, try totally avoiding any dairy products for six weeks.
Keep a log of your feelings around a headache. There may be an emotional or behavioral component to your headaches.
What is your exercise level? People get headaches when they don’t get enough oxygen. Exercise brings oxygen into the blood and lungs.
Are you an over achiever? Over achievers have more headaches than their regular achieving buddies.
Are you spending too much time thinking, creating, talking, contemplating? This can sometimes create headaches.
The bottom line here is that people who spend time exercising as well as thinking seem to have fewer headaches.
The spiritual component to headaches is, most often, fear. If you are suffering from headaches and there doesn’t seem to be a physical cause, try to accept yourself positively. Try to move forward into the future.
By all means, reflexology for the spirit practitioners, encourage your headache sufferers to receive reflexology regularly. Regular sessions encourage homeostasis and relieve stressed muscles.
Beyond a certain point, all headaches have a strong muscular component which must be dealt with if the pain is to go away.

Forgetfulness Is One Issue Which Reflexologists Can Address.
Memory loss is experienced at one time or another by everyone. It is most often brought on by stress, exhaustion, or the inability to concentrate.
Memory loss is also experienced as we age.
Regular visits to the Reflexology for the Spirit practitioner’s table can definitely help because of the grounding factor. Homeostasis always helps one’s memory. And, of course, it’s difficult to have regular sessions and still be bothered by stress, exhaustion, etc.
One of the most important things a person can do to avoid forgetfulness is get a small diary type calendar and use it. Recognizing the need for this type of calendar is a big event in people’s lives and they all hate it. However, a well kept calendar that is referred to daily can save many an embarrassing moment.
The same goes for keys.
WORK THE FOLLOWING SYSTEMS WHEN ADDRESSING FORGETFULNESS: Work the endocrine system with emphasis on the pituitary gland reflex, the thyroid and parathyroid gland reflexes, the nervous system with emphasis on the brain reflexes. Work the solar plexus and liver.

Reflexology Blog – 22 Essential Oils to Use When Working the Nervous System
Appropriate oils for the nervous system include basil, black pepper, cardamom, cedarwood, clarity, clove, eucalyptus radiate, fennel, frankincense, ginger, helichrysum, juniper, lavender, marjoram, myrrh, patchouli, peppermint, rose, rosemary, sage, valerian, ylang ylang.
When selecting an essential oil for a specific issue, it’s important to consider the entire person: physical, mental, emotional, spiritual. Although essential oils can be very powerful therapies in and of themselves, it’s important to realize that they are not the total solution. Essential oils work best when combined with other therapies.
A first step in encouraging homeostasis is to cleanse the body. A colon cleanse followed by a liver cleanse will often take care of the problem itself.
People trying to address health issues should include proper diet, exercise, supplements, meditation/yoga, and working to achieve a stress free lifestyle.
Efforts should be made to rebuild and nourishing the intestinal system as well as remineralizing the blood and tissues.
When using essential oils, it’s always important to increase fluid intake because essential oils often accelerate the detoxification process. Without adequate hydration, toxins begin to recirculate in the body and cause nausea, headaches, etc.
If your client partner experiences a reaction to an essential oil, temporarily discontinue it use and start an internal cleansing program.

What is the Practical Application? – Part 2
As you begin the warm ups, what do you find? How cold are the feet? How easily do the ankles rotate? Ankles are important. They move us forward through life.
If you encounter stiff ankles, the person is not moving forward easily. If the feet and ankles are swollen, the person is suffering through a stressful situation.
Begin the actual session at the toes. Rotating the toes is important because this is where most of the stress is located.
When you observe hammertoes, work on them early in the session.
The solar plexus is very important. Offering rotations to the solar plexus is the single most important thing you can do for your client partner.
Work the nervous system early in the session. It’s a booster system and should always be used when you are trying to resolve a health issue. The nervous system becomes important to you as you facilitate homeostasis.
Your next step is to work the immune system. Working the immune system in conjunction with the nervous system can offer significant changes.
Follow this with attention to the digestive system including a focus on the intestinal tract. Because good health begins in the intestinal tract, work the intestinal tract as often as you can in your sessions whether or not the person has voiced complaints.
Then, work the systems you feel need attention. If you have time and don’t feel drawn to a particular system or foot area, go for the endocrine system. This is the system that is, really, the most responsive to spiritual work.
With any time remaining, give attention to the areas of discoloration, puffiness, mushiness, cold, etc.
Offer warm downs for about 5 minutes to return the client to the present. Most people receiving regular work from a Reflexology for the Spirit practitioner go into a deep state encouraging healing and homeostasis. This most often happens when the person does not engage in any conversation during the session.
There are many reactions which a client can exhibit during and after sessions. Don’t elaborate on them because a certain percentage of people will experience reactions simply because you talked about them.
Let them occur naturally…if they are going to happen.
Thank you for reading this post. This ends the section of practical application tips.
Tomorrow’s post will offer a guided meditation to use for yourself or read to someone else.

Sweaty Feet can be very “trying” for a Reflexologist.
For starters, the natural inclination is to just not touch the feet. Don’t worry. Use an antibacterial spray on the feet to clean them off. Wear gloves if you are worried that you’re going to “catch” something.
Remember this: A person with sweaty feet is a person whose Adrenal glands are in serious passing gear.
There are several things your client partner can do. We can’t prescribe these things but it’s nice to know what they are: soak the feet in salt water to change the bacteria, rub the feet with alcohol and let it dry, change shoes and socks often, and spritz with cleansing spray whenever possible.
Suggest a visit to a podiatrist to make certain there are no infections, etc. Whatever the condition, you still have a person with serious spiritual conditions needing your attention regularly.
SYSTEMS TO WORK: adrenals, nervous system, immune system, urinary system, digestive system with emphasis on the liver and the solar plexus.
ESSENTIAL OILS: bergamot, Roman chamomile, frankincense, lavender, marjoram, wintergreen, myrrh, rosemary, sandalwood, thyme, ylang ylang, and spruce.
Thanks again for reading the blog. Our next post will focus on Swollen Ankles and Feet.
