Reflexology For The Spirit

spirituality of one's health

Constipation, a Spiritual Problem We all Have Occasionally (At Least)

Spiritually, you are stuck in the past, refusing to give up old ideas.  You hold onto safe beliefs.  Learning to release the past is an important process when you combat constipation on a spiritual level.  Fear of the unknown is definitely part of the mix.  As you move into the future, less worry and fear help.  Focus on deepening your contact with your power center.  Finally, develop feelings of self-respect.

Try to connect with your power center and respect yourself more deeply.

Some people feel three bowel movements a day is normal.  Others feel three movements a week is normal.  Infrequent bowel movements, hard stools, abdominal discomfort are common.

A low-fiber diet and dehydration contribute to constipation.  Other triggers include too much processed food, stress, not enough exercise.

Reflexology sessions comfort the digestive process.  People receiving reflexology sessions regularly claim to not have problems with bowel irregularity.

This claim is especially popular with parents of young children who have problems with bowel movements.  Children who receive reflexology sessions have a difficult time being constipated.

Constipation is a condition can require the attention of a medical professional.  isit your physician to rule out any underlying medical conditions.  This is especially true if your constipation comes on suddenly or if there’s blood in your stool.

Marge d’Urso, my reflexology teacher, taught us to expect fifty per cent of our client partners to have issues with constipation.  The good news is that the condition seldom continues as regular reflexology sessions progress.  This is true of both children and adults.  Her teachings make regular reflexology sessions the backbone of constipation resolution.

CHAKRA

Constipation is a first and third chakra imbalance.

REFLEXOLOGY SYSTEMS TO WORK

liver, gall bladder, diaphragm, endocrine system, lower spine, ileocecal valve, sigmoid

When your reflexologist works the digestive system in a reflexology session, your intestinal tract will begin to normalize itself.

When you receive reflexology sessions regularly to deal with constipation, you will probably feel better, have more energy, look better, have a more positive outlook on life, and develop better eating habits.

A colon cleanse followed by a liver cleanse along with regularly scheduled reflexology sessions will improve things.

ESSENTIAL OILS

anise, fennel, ginger, lemon, mandarin, peppermint, rosemary, sweet orange, tarragon

EFFECTIVE HEALING FIELDS

Conventional medicine, Traditional Chinese medicine, Naturopathy, Homeopathy, Herbalism.  Complimentary, Alternative, and Integrative medicine all have theories, remedies, and modalities to help with your constipation.  Indeed, so many people in our country have constipation that it seems everyone suffers with it.

IMPORTANT FOODS IN YOUR DIET

brown rice, dried fruits, fresh fruits, green vegetables, leafy vegetables, oats, pine nuts, yogurt

RISK FACTORS

insufficient fluids, low fiber, high fat diet, not getting enough vitamin C, sedentary lifestyle

THINGS TO TRY

Things which may help improve overall digestive health include dry brushing after bathing, using a mini trampoline regularly to clean the lymphatic system.   Prebiotics and probiotics help.  Consuming more dietary fiber regularly along with sufficient fluids is essential.  Finally, avoid stress whenever possible.  Exercise daily. Include high-fiber foods, whole-grain breads, leafy vegetables.  Regular reflexology sessions help.

QUESTIONS TO ASK

What is it about the unknown that I am afraid of?  How can I trust the unknown parts of my life?  What is holding me back from what I want to do?

Depression is Your Soul Crying Out for Help.

Spiritually, your soul cries out for help.  On top of all this spiritual suffering you may also have feelings of self doubt and hopelessness.  When you deal with depression, you feel you are stuck in a storywith no positive ending.

Everyone feels sad occasionally.  Your depression is unique, just as you are unique.  There’s a difference between having the blues and being depressed.  Depression is a disease of your soul.  Chemicals alone cannot cure your depression.

Depression includes feeling sad, empty, or unhappy.  Your sleep may be disturbed.  This means you may be sleeping too much or have insomnia.  Your diet may be disturbed.  This means you may have lost your appetite or you may be gaining weight.  Your thinking, speaking, and body movements have slowed down.  You feel anxious, agitated, and restless.  You have trouble thinking, concentrating, remembering things and making decisions.  You have unexplained physical problems such as back pain or headache.

You may have clinical depression if you drink alcohol and smoke excessively, experience poor appetite and weight loss, are preoccupied with negative thoughts  of despair, and contemplate suicide.

Whatever the symptoms, depression is a prolonged feeling of unhappiness.  It may be associated with grief, divorce, or retirement.  It may be connected with childbirth.  Whatever the trigger, depression is a disease which can be overwhelming.

Consult with a physician when you begin your search for relief because popular treatments include antidepressants and psychotherapy.  Depression is extremely treatable, so go for it!

Reflexology, Reiki, and chakra healings are not cure-alls but can certainly help.  Reflexology sessions encourage homeostasis, important for positive outcomes, especially since it’s not always easy for you to find how to lift your spirits.  Your sessions will help manage the side effects of any allopathic medications you may be taking.

CHAKRA

Your crown and heart chakras are unbalanced.

REFLEXOLOGY SYSTEMS TO WORK

nervous system, digestive system, respiratory system, skeletal system, endocrine system, spine, liver, and solar plexus

ESSENTIAL OILS

cedarwood, frankincense, jasmine, lemon, peppermint, rosemary, ylang ylang

RISK FACTORS

Depression is a fairly complex issue resulting from numerous factors including a genetic predisposition, hormonal shifts, sedentary lifestyle, life events, underlying health issues

EFFECTIVE HEALING FIELDS

Begin with Conventional medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Naturopathy, Homeopathy.  Supplement the allopathic medicine with complementary and alternative medicine treatments.  Bodywork such as massage is often a positive therapy.  Depression is a case where you can wholeheartedly adopt both styles of medical care.  Synchronicity!

If you choose to add homeopathic remedies, consult with a homeopath for the treatment best suited to your needs.

FOODS IMPORTANT TO YOUR DIET

bananas, fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, low-fat dairy products, oats, oily fish, whole grains

Eat breakfast every day.  Eat protein at every meal.  Stay away from processed foods.  Eat more whole grains.  Better yet…get nutritional counseling!

THINGS TO TRY

Find out what’s going on in your head.  You’ll get to know about things that may be causing you to feel depressed.

Flower remedies can be successful.

Physical exercise promotes a positive mental attitude.  It’s important to your success in the battle to overcome depression.

Depression gives you a chance to work with parts within yourself that you don’t know about and may have repressed.  When you enter therapy and work with them, you can understand your self better while you heal and transform yourself.

When you stay connected with friends and community, your worries will be in the background.  Join a support group.  Your physician may have a list of groups available to you.  Do something you enjoy every day.  Journal about it.

Try something new.  A new hobby can get you out of your house and out of your head.

Anxiety Attacks – a Spiritual Event

Spiritually, an anxiety attack happens when fear takes over the situation.  Fear is a huge spiritual issue which can overcome your ability to cope.  You feel you are worthless, helpless, and cannot trust life.   You feel stuck and limited in life but don’t want to make changes.  Stress can be a factor.  Fear looms large.

Anxiety attacks usually begin suddenly and peak within a few minutes.  Symptoms include a rapid heart rate, sweating, trembling, shortness of breath, hyperventilation, chills, and a sense of impending doom.

For starters, anxiety attacks require professional help.  If you visit a Chiropractor, massage therapist, psychotherapist, yoga teacher, schedule your sessions within twenty-four hours to forty-eight hours for maximum benefit of both.

The synchronicity of your sessions (which should include Reiki, chakra healing, and reflexology) will boost the benefits of these modalities.  Your sessions will calm some side effects of drugs taken during treatment.

Do you take prescriptive drugs, herbs, or other medications for a medical condition?   Make sure everyone on your medical team knows about all drugs, herbs, oils and other medications you take.  Ask your bodyworkers to work  body systems that apply to your medications, drugs, and herbs.

Bodywork sessions during treatment can balance your chakras, encourage homeostasis, ground your systems, and support your healing process.

SUGGESTED HEALING SYSTEMS

Conventional medicine, Traditional Chinese medicine, Naturopathy, Homeopathy, Herbalism.

Anxiety attacks are a valid reason to seek medical help.  They are hard to manage without professional help but they may worsen without treatment.  The main treatments include psychotherapy and medications.

Although many things contribute to anxiety attacks, one which is important overall is nutrition.  A qualified nutritionist can support your path toward a stress-free environment  because what you eat or don’t eat directly affects your day-to-day health.

CHAKRA:

Anxiety attacks are a seventh chakra imbalance.

REFLEXOLOGY SYSTEMS TO WORK:  endocrine system, digestive system, nervous system, liver, and solar plexus.

Work all systems which apply to any other health issues you experience.

ESSENTIAL OILS:

frankincense, lavender, orange, Roman chamomile, rose, ylang ylang

THINGS TO DO

Learn a breathing technique to ground yourself in your body.  Learn stress management techniques to calm yourself and overcome the stress you experience.

QUESTIONS TO ASK:

Why do I feel so powerless?  Why is fear interfering with my daily life?

Alzheimer’s Disease: This Spiritual Disease is in Your Life Years Before You Know it.

Spiritually, you are overwhelmed with your life’s path  and want to run away to another time.  You do not want to live your life the way it is now because you lost your sense of belonging.  With memory loss, you escaped your roots, your place in your society, and your heritage.

I read somewhere that from one third to one half of people over eighty suffer with this dread disease.  I believe these numbers may be overstated.  Health professionals write about Alzheimer’s disease and dementia with much less certainty than they give their words to heart disease and diabetes.

My experience with Alzheimer’s Disease insists that I share this:  much that is written may not apply to your loved one’s situation, no matter the circumstances.

Professionals believe Alzheimer’s has genetic, lifestyle, and environmental causes.  Alzheimer’s develops slowly, over time.  The same things that put you at risk for heart disease also put you at risk for this disease:  sedentary lifestyle, smoking, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol scores.

Alzheimer’s patients have trouble thinking, speaking, reasoning, and writing.  The personality changes over time.   Disorientation is common and personality changes are to be expected.  One early warning behavior includes asking the same question over and over and over.  A second behavior is forgetting to do familiar things.  Finally, misplacing things and finding them in unusual places is a red flag.

Do you practice Reiki therapy, reflexology, or chakra healing?  Offering sessions of these modalities can be one of the most significant things you will ever do for an Alzheimer’s patient.  Your sessions are a way to spiritually communicate and connect with a person when words no longer work.

Are you a Reiki Master Teacher?  Teaching Reiki to a caregiver can be an important gift for both the caregiver and patient.  Other people living in the household can be attuned to Reiki.  This includes the pets and children.

Alzheimer’s Disease is a thief of a disease.  For starters, Alzheimer’s steals your brain.  Then, it steals your body.  Finally, it steals every penny in your bank and savings accounts.

CHAKRA:

Alzheimer’s is a seventh chakra imbalance.

SUGGESTED HEALING SYSTEMS:

Begin with Conventional medicine, Naturopathy, Homeopathy, and Herbalism.  Supplement your allopathic medicine with complementary and alternative medicine techniques wherever possible.

Alzheimer’s Disease  responds well to complementary, alternative, and integrative medicine techniques.  For now, no treatment can stop the disease.  The goal is to slow symptoms and offer whatever relief you can.

REFLEXOLOGY SYSTEMS TO WORK:

endocrine system, skeletal system, lymphatics, intestinal system, liver, solar plexus

ESSENTIAL OILS:

cedarwood, eucalyptus, frankincense, German chamomile, ginger, myrrh, nutmeg, patchouli, sandalwood, spikenard.

ACTIVITIES WHICH MAY HELP:

Regular exercise along with reflexology will improve your mood and maintain your health.  You’ll sleep better and have fewer constipation problems.

Good nutrition is important.

A calm and stable environment helps.

Keep your schedule regulated.

EMOTIONS EXPERIENCED BY ALZHEIMER’S PATIENTS:

Anger, confusion, depression, fear, frustration, and fear are common.  Anxiety is experienced when noise, being rushed, complicated tasks, or crowds happen.

ACTIVITIES TO REDUCE YOUR RISK OF ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE:

Mentally and socially stimulating activities can reduce your risk.  Preventive steps include keeping physically and mentally active.

One of the most important things you can do is keep your heart strong.  That means you should keep your blood pressure levels normal.  Keep your cholesterol numbers, your weight, and type 2 diabetes numbers in the normal range.

Physical fitness can’t be over emphasized.  Take a weekly exercise class.  Power walking, swimming, running, regular gym workouts help.

Keep your job as long as you can.  If you’re tired of the job you have, get another one.  Whatever you do, never quit working.

Keep yourself socially connected to your community.  A rich social life is important.  Don’t let yourself be lonely.

Take continuing education classes.  Learn crochet, carpentry, knitting, musical instruments, paintings, reading, sculpture, quilting.  Challenge your mind.

Regular massage, reflexology, Reiki therapy sessions are beneficial.  Surf the internet.  Get organized.  Care for others.

A good night’s sleep is one of the best things you can do to keep Alzheimer’s out of your life.

Don’t let yourself get depressed.

A hint:  Do all of these things before you experience symptoms.  You are fighting Alzheimer’s for years before you have symptoms.

RISK FACTORS:

Diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obesity, sedentary lifestyle, smoking, stress

IS SOMEONE YOU KNOW SUFFERING WITH ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE?

One of the most significant things you will ever do for an Alzheimer’s patient is offer reflexology, Reiki therapy and chakra healing sessions to that patient.  Your sessions are a truly spiritual way to communicate and connect with a person when words no longer work.

DO YOU KNOW A REIKI MASTER TEACHER?  ARE YOU A REIKI MASTER TEACHER:

Teaching Reiki to a person caring for an Alzheimer’s patient can be an important gift for the caregiver and patient both.

Allergies are a Spiritual Problem for Many of us

Spiritually, you (and all allergy sufferers) are having a power struggle experience.  You battle inflammation, a major cause of disease in humans.  Spiritual challenges plague you all year.

Work on accepting your world as safe and friendly.  Seek your spiritual peace.  You are annoyed and aggravated by other people and you worry about giving away your power.  This challenges  forgiveness when  you blame others for negativity.

Allergies present year-round spiritual challenges.  Many of your diseases can be food-based, but few allergies are food-based.  Most allergy sufferers experience asthma, hay fever, sinusitis.

Pollen, animal dander, dust mites, mold usually cause many of your allergies.  Even though few allergies are food-based, some foods commonly causing allergies include peanuts, soy, wheat, fish, shellfish, eggs, and milk.  You can have allergies to bee and wasp stings.  Sometimes these allergic reactions can be serious.  Finally, you can have an allergic reaction to medications.  A common medication causing an allergic reaction is penicillin.

Allergies are increasing.  Common culprits are said to be increased stressful lifestyles, overexposure to food additives, insecticides, and synthetic chemicals.

Children risk developing allergies.  Sometimes childhood allergies are outgrown.  Finally, if you have asthma, you risk developing allergies.

Congestion, runny nose, nasal itching, and sneezing are irritating and persistent.  To make matters worse, there is no real cure for allergies.  The  power struggle is yours.

Depending on the allergy, your symptoms may include hives (food or drug allergies).  Your lips and tongue may swell (food or drug allergies).  You may have a rash (drug, skin), or itching (hay fever, bug bite, drug allergies, skin allergy).  If you have allergies, visit a reflexologist weekly.  These sessions can also include Reiki and chakra healing.  Using reflexology sessions to successfully treat allergies requires a strong commitment, not just a few visits.  But, it’s no different with the reflexologist than with the allergist and the ENT specialist.

I received Reiki and reflexology sessions regularly for years and can vouch that going to the allergist and the ENT would never have been as successful without the regular reflexology and Reiki sessions to facilitate homeostasis.  These regular sessions offered me a minor detox, and helped me get rid of the mucus.  They helped manage my allergy side effects during treatment.

I’m convinced they both lessened and prevented sinus or hay fever attacks.

Regular reflexology and Reiki sessions prevent attack before they start.

If your allergies are still challenging with regular medication and reflexology, it’s time to visit an allergist.  Allergists desensitize your allergies with weekly injections.

I’ve experienced allergy shots four different times in my life and can vouch for their effectiveness and lasting protection.

What is the source of your allergy?  Get rid of it!

If you are sensitive to indoor allergens, use dust mite covers on mattresses and pillows.  Eliminating house dust is important.  Discard the curtains, stuffed animals, throw rugs.  Wash your human and pet bedding often.  Ditch the scented candles.

A good basic question is to ask:  “Do I really need these dusty curtains, stuffed animals, throw rugs?”

Pets are often a source of allergic reactions.  You shouldn’t have to give up your pets because you have allergies.  You can reduce the allergens.  It’s not as challenging as it seems.

Brush and bathe your pet weekly in hypoallergenic shampoo.’

Cats are easy to bathe too.  All you have to do is avoid letting your cat hear the splashing water.

If your dog is long coated, consider having the coat trimmed short.

Some dog breeds who should not be cut down:  collies, Labrador retrievers, shelties.

Regular visits to a professional groomer will help.  Let the groomer know about your allergies.  A good groomer will use special shampoos, special brushing and drying techniques to remove as much hair/coat dander as possible in a groom shop.

Better yet, find a groomer who comes to your home.  Van groomers drive up to your home, take your pet out to the groom shop in the van and return your pet an hour or so later minus the extra coat, allergens, and anything else causing your allergic reactions.

Vacuum carpets and upholstered furniture frequently.  Clean air filters regularly.  Roaches and mice must go.

Use only products on your home, pets, car, and workplace which you are not allergic to.  I clean my home, car, pets, and myself with Dr. Bronner’s soaps.  I even use Dr. Bronner’s soap in my washing machine.

In the end, my home and pets are cleaner with the special products I use.  I’m healthier because I have fewer respiratory problems.  My life is less stressful.

I’m  careful about shampoos and makeup.  And, frankly, I use minimal makeup.

You’ll save money in the long run by consulting with a capable otolaryngologist and an allergist.  Allergy shots are a natural method of desensitizing that can be effective for years.

I was eight years old the first time my mother took me to an allergist.  She took me to see Dr. Russell Guill in Kerrville, Texas.  Dr. Guill was a pediatrician who got his second speciailty  I got allergy shots for three years that time.  The desensitizing effects for this first round lasted for many years.

The last time I got a round of allergy shots, I was a Dr. Furst patient in Fairfax, Virginia.  His specialties were otolaryngology and allergy.  For me, this man was a near miracle worker.  The entire time I was his patient, I had no sinus infections and few allergy attacks.

Recently, I’ve begun to get allergy desensitization through dr. Korbutz in Red Hook.  Recently, I waited too long for this current round because I had two serious sinus infections that probably could have been prevented or diminished with weekly allergy injections.

After this second sinus infection which really was severe, I eagerly drive to Red Hook weekly for the shot.  Only, it isn’t one.  Every Tuesday afternoon I get two injections, one in each arm.

I’m grateful to every physician who gave me the shots throughout my life.  Taking allergy shots may seem like a lot to do to get rid of allergies.  But, over time, a better quality of life emerges.  You’ll spend less money on over-the-counter preparations and prescription medications.

If you’re groaning because of your dread of injections, don’t even bother.  The needles are so small, I never feel them.

CHAKRA:

Allergies are both fourth chakra imbalance.

REFLEXOLOGY SYSTEMS TO WORK:

respiratory system, immune system, sinuses, digestive system, endocrine system, liver and solar plexus

ESSENTIAL OILS:

eucalyptus, German or Roman chamomile, lavender, peppermint, tea tree

THINGS TO TRY:

Wash your shower curtain in hot water, Dr. Bronner’s soap and bleach monthly.  If this seems like too much work, change your curtain monthly and discard the old one.  Declutter your home by discarding anything you haven’t used in two or more years.  Things you haven’t used are sitting around collecting dust and mold which you don’t need.  Put a shelf by your front door and encourage everyone coming into your home to leave their shoes and boots outside.  This keeps mold and outside dust and dirt outside the door.

FOODS TO INCLUDE IN YOUR DIET

Apples, berries, black tea, garlic, fresh fruits, garlic, kefir, leafy greens, lemon balm, mackerel, onions, oregano, red grapes, rosemary, salmon, sardines, sunflower seeds, sweet potatoes, tuna, fresh vegetables, walnuts, wheat germ, yogurt

QUESTIONS TO ASK

How can I create effective boundaries?  What makes me afraid?

Acne is a Stressful and Spiritual Disease

Spiritually, you are at risk for acne when you experience excessive, unrelenting stress.  When this kind of stress enters your life, love and accept yourself as a perfect human being.  Build self-confidence, self-esteem, and value.

Extreme stress brings out extreme self-dissatisfaction.  You are under tremendous pressure from a person or situation in your environment.  This pressure never lets up.  Anger is also an issue.  (How can it not be, with intense pressure?)

Acne is a difficult disease.  First, you’ve got stress in your life contributing to the blemishes.  As if the stress isn’t enough, the blemishes are an embarrassment.  Then, acne itself is uncomfortable enough because blemishes can be painful, and especially with deeper inflammation.

RISK FACTORS

Stress, hormone changes, diet, family history of the steroids, climate, cosmetics

CHAKRA

Acne is a third chakra imbalance.

SUGGESTED HEALING SYSTEMS

Conventional medicine, Traditional Chinese medicine, Naturopathy, Homeopathy, Herbalism.  See a dermatologist if the acne persists.  It’s better to go early in the disease, before the scarring begins.  Scars stay with you for life unless you get treatment to prevent them or you get medical dermabrasion.

Regular visits to a reflexologist, Reiki, and chakra healing calm your emotional upsets, heal your body while promoting homeostasis.  Regular sessions manage the side effects of acne during treatment.  Regular exercise will help you work off some of the stress.   A good skin cleansing program is essential.  Your physician may prescribe antibiotics.

REFLEXOLOGY SYSTEMS TO WORK

diaphragm, digestive system, endocrine system, face, immune system, intestines, kidneys, liver, lymphatic system, nervous system, solar plexus

Stimulate your lymphatic system regularly to reduce stress and eliminate toxins.

ESSENTIAL OILS

bergamot, cedarwood, clove, geranium, grapefruit, German or Roman chamomile, lavender, oregano, patchouli, rosemary, rosewood, tea tree, vetiver

THINGS TO DO

A good diet which includes plenty of water is important.  Skip the junk food.  Your food should be clean and avoid excessive fat, oil, sugar.

Manage your stress.  This means you need to develop coping skills such as self-Reiki, meditation, tai chi.  Read the chapter on stress.

IMPORTANT FOODS IN YOUR DIET

Almonds, beans, Brazil nuts, cantaloupe, carrots, chicken, eggs, fish, flaxseed oil, fresh fruits, garlic, leafy greens, melons, onions, oranges, oysters, peanuts, poultry, red bell peppers, salmon, sunflower seeds, strawberries, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, turkey, fresh vegetables, walnuts, whole grains, yams

Risk Factors Don’t Act Alone

Risk factors are behaviors or conditions linked to disease.  They don’t act alone.

They create their synchronicity when they react with one another.  Some diseases, such as cancer, rely on multiple risk factors (age, habits, family history, health conditions, and environment) to manifest as diseases.  Then, again, these same diseases can develop without any known risk factors.

When disease strikes a body without risk factors, the risk factors are energetic instead of physical.  Energetic risk factors include resentment, unprocessed hurt, hatred, grief.

AGE is a risk factor in many health issues.  It’s a risk factor throughout your life.  Heart diseases and strokes take decades to develop, and children’s diseases focus on the youngest as the most vulnerable.  Emergency rooms and physicians’ waiting rooms are populated regularly with infants, children, and seniors.

DIABETES.  When you become diabetic, you are suddenly at the front of the line for a whole selection of diseases:  stroke, heart attack, cataracts, glaucoma, peripheral artery disease, diabetic foot disease, neuropathy.

DNA testing is commonplace for certain types of diseases.  I look forward to the day when people get their DNA tested routinely before the disease becomes dangerous, not after you’ve found it and are receiving drugs and trying to learn what other medical procedures are in your future.

FAMILY HISTORY OF A PARTICULAR DISEASE.  Just because a particular disease is in your family history doesn’t mean you’ll get that disease 100%.  It’s important to know about the disease and it’s important to use the knowledge to fight it.

HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE is both a treatable disease and a silent killer.  No one should have to deal with the complications of high blood pressure.  The medication is not expensive.  High blood pressure needs treatment because it becomes a silent killer when left untreated.  Because there are few symptoms people resist the lifesaving medication.

HIGH CHOLESTEROL  is truly a silent killer.  Your body works much better when there are healthy numbers to work with.  Taking your cholesterol medication can be an easy decision if you examine the statistics.  People live longer with statins.

OBESITY is an epidemic in our country right now.  How does this happen?

First, people don’t move enough to process the calories consumed.  Secondly, people are now eating a lot of chemicals manufactured for human consumptions.  These eating products are manufactured to eat but they are not food.  Our foods are not able to properly digest these chemical-laden products.

SEDENTARY LIFESTYLE  When I walk down the street on a sidewalk, I notice those around me walking.  Some move rapidly, with purpose, easily.  Others move slowly, with or without purpose, painfully.

I always want to ask them whether they liked moving when they were young.  Some people are totally in their bodies and move easily through life.  Others are not and don’t move easily.  In the final analysis, I ask myself how can I convince a person who doesn’t like to move to walk or run or play a game of some kind.  How can I help them see their bodies in the future?  How can I help them see how much easier it is when they keep their bodies from rusting?

SMOKING is a set-up for an unhealthy end of life.  When I see a person suffering from COPD trying to breathe, I always wonder whether or not they think smoking was the right thing to do.  But, then, I’m sure when a person begins to smoke, COPD is never on anyone’s mind.

Cancer and Your Spirituality

Spiritually, few diseases have an impact as strong as cancer.  Grief eats away at your body.  Carrying past wounds makes you fearful, angry.  You attack yourself from the inside out.  Finally, you are running on empty.

Cancer is a complex and life-threatening disease.  It requires specially trained health care professionals.  Your journey to wellness will be easier and more effective if your medical knows about any and all alternative remedies you use.  Your recovery calls for conventional physicians and integrative medical techniques.  In other words, use every tool you feel will work.

Include internists, physical therapists, nutritionists, bodyworkers, healers in your wellness team.  Everyone is needed to care for you and give you a better path to success.

As with arthritis, there are many different forms of cancer.  Your reflexology, Reiki, and chakra healing sessions, received 24 to 48 hours after chemotherapy help move the medication throughout your body more efficiently.

Regular sessions offer a deep sense of relaxation, homeostasis, pain relief, and reduce stress.  If reflexology is not available, try other bodywork modalities.  They can change your cancer experience.  Safe, effective healing bodywork therapies offer nurturing in tandem with cancer treatment.

When you suffer from cancer, continue all your treatments, both allopathic and complementary.  Your reflexologist will support your return to good health through all your treatments.  Your sessions will be most effective when you combine reflexology with Reiki, chakra healing.

Do you practice Reiki?  No?  Now might be a good time to start.  Self Reiki sessions can help with fear, nausea, and pain.

RISK FACTORS

The list is long:  age, air pollution, diabetes, excess sun exposure, exposure to chemicals, family history, heavy alcohol consumption, obesity, polyps in colon, sedentary lifestyle, smoking, poor health.

Some professions believe cancers don’t need risk factors because many people get cancer who don’t have applicable risk factors or who are not exposed to them.  This makes cancer a more spiritual set of diseases.

CHAKRAS

The location of your cancer tells you which chakras are affected.  With cancer, the chakras need to be balanced.

Prostate and rectal cancer involve your root chakra.  Cancers of your cervix, ovaries, uterus, colon, unbalance your sacral chakra.  Cancers of your stomach, liver, intestinal tract, pancreas, unbalance your solar plexus chakra.  Your heart chakra becomes unbalanced by breast and lung cancers.  Lung cancer unbalances your throat chakra as well.  Finally, brain tumors affect your crown chakra.

REFLEXOLOGY SYSTEMS TO WORK

brain reflexes, endocrine system, digestive system, immune system, respiratory system, the lymphatics, circulatory system, nervous system, liver, solar plexus

ESSENTIAL OILS

Canadian red cedar, clove, dill, Douglas fir, galbanum, grapefruit, hyssop, Idaho balsam fir, lavender, ledum, maleleuca, myrrh, myrtle, nutmeg, patchouli, rose, sage, sandalwood, tarragon, thyme, tsuga, valerian, ylang ylang

VITAMINS AND MINERALS

Consult with your nutritionist, your physicians, and your entire support team to choose vitamin and mineral supplements for your situation.  Nutritional support will help decrease any side effects you experience.  Some professionals believe you will recover faster, have fewer complications if you take nutritional supplements.

If you have questions about which supplements are best for you, I refer you to Village Apothecary, 79 Tinker Street, here in Woodstock, New York, 12498.  I get all my supplements at Village Apothecary.  I trust Neil Smoller’s advice.

THINGS TO DO

Normalize your cholesterol levels.  Exercise.  Use smart food choices, portion control to balance your weight.   Staying active helps relieve fatigue, reduce anxiety, lift pain, boost energy, preserve muscle strength, protect bones.  Avoid overexposure to sun. Skip the alcohol.  The list, it seems, is endless.

If you read this section of the book, maybe you’re taking stock of your life.  Now is a good time to search your inner self and seek those lost parts you’ve ignored for a long time.  Move them onto your front row of attention.  Nourish those feelings and thoughts.  Put them in the spotlight.  Your goal is to feel safe so you  can heal.

IMPORTANT FOODS IN YOUR DIET

There’s a correlation between fat, meat, and cancer.  Fruits, vegetables, fiber are necessary for you if you are trying to prevent or treat cancer.  Nutrition is important.

Some well known cancer-fighting foods include green tea, garlic, soy, turmeric, and ginger.  No one food can cure cancer.  But a good diet can help your quality of life while you fuel your body.  At mealtime, fill your plate with fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.

DEFENSE STRATEGIES

Living well offers protection against many cancers.  Eat plenty of fruit and vegetables as part of a healthy diet.  Exercise regularly.  Avoid tobacco and alcohol to prevent many cancers.  Get a bit of sunlight every day.  There is, however, no magic bullet.

QUESTIONS TO ASK

Have I left my community behind?  Is deep stress undermining my immune system?  Can I be honest about my feelings?

I’m sharing information which took me decades to discover and organize.  You’ll find it presented in easy, practical, uncomplicated ways to use in today’s world.

The information I share has stood the test of time.  Medical training isn’t necessary to to read and understand the words on these plot posts.

For thousands of years, reflexology (for example), has been used to successfully treat health issues from common ailments to serious disease.  Because I’m a reflexologist, you’ll find references to this modality on many pages.  That doesn’t mean you need to be a reflexologist to read, understand, or use this book.  It’s there for you if you want to adapt it to your needs.  If you know nothing about reflexology, you can still benefit from its philosophy about health and healing.

Reflexology teaches you this:  Your body is different every day.

My healing practice teaches you this:  your body is not just physical.  Indeed, your components include physical, mental, emotional, spiritual aspects.

Future blog posts will focus on your health, healing, and wellness.  I’ve planned posts on your body systems.  I’ll include important foods in each system as they apply to its healing.

I’ve planned future posts focusing on chakras.

I plan to list more and more ailments and remedies alphabetically.
Each entry will include spiritual qualities unique to that specific disease.  I’ll be listing essential oils although I won’t be describing how to use them.  That is a different subject entirely.

These blog posts are designed to be practical and easily adaptable to your needs.  I hope you will enjoy them.
