Reflexology For The Spirit

spirituality of one's health

What Your Feet Reveal!

Your feet reveal the state of your health.  They reveal physical problems in other parts of your body.

Often, the problems we experience with our feet relate to problems in other parts of the body.

Our feet reflect our lives:  what we eat, what we drink,   how we exercise, how well we sleep.

Tense feet may reflect tension in other parts of your body.

Limp feet indicate poor muscle tone.

Cold, blue, or red feet indicate poor circulation.

Sweaty feet suggest hormonal problems.

Swollen feet suggest a trip to a physician is in order.

Corns, blisters, and ingrown toenails will affect posture.

Bunions should be looked at by a podiatrist.

Hammertoes can benefit from reflexology sessions.

Toenails are a reflection of the diet.

When you don’t have time to look after your feet, you may experience corns, blisters, ingrown toenails, and bunions.  These problems affect your posture and metabolism.

Regular reflexology sessions bring about homeostasis.  People receiving regular reflexology sessions feel better and have fewer foot issues.

Create a space in your life for regular reflexology sessions.  They really help!

Let’s Get Back to Basics! Start with Foot Reflexology

Reduced to a basic practice, reflexology works with zone therapy.  So, this chart is the one I’m displaying first. If you feel that your life is too complicated for reflexology, try massaging your feet and observing where you feel soreness or sensitivity.  Rather than feeling you even need to know how you experience these points, just knowing where they are on your feet is enough.

Foot reflexology sessions relax, balance, detox, and heal your entire body.

Reflexology brings about homeostasis – a body balance that is important for your health.

Reflex areas in your feet correspond to the internal organs.

Note where these points are and then work them over the next few days.

Work your toes to help alleviate headaches,

The ball of your foot relieves tension in your neck and shoulders.

Your foot arch relates to your liver, bowel, and kidneys.  Manipulate this area gently, especially if you’ve been burning the candle at both ends.

Massaging the top of your foot induces psychological calm.

Modern reflexology is based on the centuries-old theory of Zone Therapy.  The principle is that the energy connection should be free-flowing.  An energy blockage will imbalance body parts within that particular zone.

Reflexology sessions work to restore free-flowing energy pathways throughout the body, creating homeostasis.  This energetic body balance is essential for your good health.

When our bodies are balanced, things work better:

stress is relieved

the immune system improves

there is relief from pain

circulation improves

bowel movements improve

toxins  clear

relaxation is better

In short, the body works better!

Most of us know these things but it’s nice to have a short review occasionally.  It’s easier to find time in the daily schedule for a reflexology session if we can remember what the session will actually do for us.

On behalf of healers everywhere, I honor you and thank you for seeking wellness throughout your life.

With blogs, books, classes and sessions, I am not here to change your story.  I am here as a conduit for your healing.

Third Eye Chakra Meditation

A third eye chakra meditation helps you connect with your 7th chakra to access the wisdom it holds for you.

Go to a place where you feel safe.  Get comfortable.  Close your eyes and take a deep breath.  Continue to breathe slowly and deeply.

As you breathe, let each exhale release tensions and tightness.  As you continue breathing, feel warm relaxation flowing throughout your body.

Enjoy this feeling of relaxation and comfort.  Now, visit your senses on a spiritual level.

For a moment, bring to mind a sunrise, a sunset, a tree shading a meadow beneath it.  See your favorite flower.

Listen to the rain on a window.  Hear a dog barking in the distance. Hear a car honking.

Smell a freshly baked cookie.  Experience a cup of freshly brewed coffee.  Freshly mown grass.

Continue now, to choose your own selection of sensory experiences which you rely on to assist you as you experience your world spiritually.

After a few more sensory experiences, you are in a calmer state.

Ask your third eye chakra what it needs now.

While waiting for a response from your chakra, take a few more calming and relaxing breaths.

You may receive your desired feedback now.  It may come as a word, a sound, a color, a song, an animal, or a feeling of awareness..

If you receive this feedback now, think about what came to you.  How do you feel about this information?

What is a good thing to do to act on this information?  (if, indeed, you need to act)  It may be that this is simply something for you to know.

If you do not receive feedback now, don’t worry!  It will come to you when the time is right.

It is now time to return to your space in an awake, aware state.  Take a deep breath, exhale slowly, and gently open your eyes.

If you have time, this is a good opportunity to reflect on your experience.

Return to this meditation whenever you feel comfortable doing so.

Drink fresh, cool water to keep yourself hydrated.

8 Ways to Heal Your Chakras

When you balance your chakras, you change your physical self.  This happens because your chakras affect all levels of your body – physical, psychological, and spiritual.

Balanced chakras facilitate homeostasis. A chakra  adjustment boosts healing and recovery from illness, emotional wounds, negative lifestyles and other physical and mental issues.

INTENTION

Wherever you are on your healing path, your foundation is your intention to heal, which guides your journey.

Keep it close throughout your travels because healing can often reach into your past.  Your health issues may have begun years, decades, even lifetimes ago.

Write your intention.  Meditate on your intention.  Stay with your intention.  It  leads your energy, telling it what to do.

Your intention has a second task:  it converts your healing goals into your new normal,  maintaining your good health and your spiritual wholeness.

Without this second task focusing on your good health goals, your body may revert to its previous state.

Your goal is to make strong and durable changes so you can become your new normal self.

This may be scary stuff.  After all, it’s much easier to “keep on keeping on”.

If you really seek healing, change the things you do.

AROMATHERAPY

The sense of smell is primal.

When you focus on grounding and safety,  aromatherapy is a good choice because these qualities rely on the sense of smell.  This is especially important for health issues affecting your root chakra.

Aromas work on the unconscious self and the physical body.

Smells have a frequency which reaches far back in time to heal  your chakras and energetic fields.

Smells reveal memories traveling instantly from the past – beyond this life even.

This time travel can balance chakras.  Essential oils can focus on a specific chakra.

I’ve listed various essential oils in previous blog posts.  I’ve also listed them in all editions of “Healer’s Handbook”.

If you want to own the fewest number of essential oils possible, lavender can be a good first choice.

Good essential oils for the root chakra include wood-related oils:  sandalwood, rosewood.

If you want to use essential oils to promote healing and balance, select only a few for the chakra you are focusing on.  Buy the best  quality, therapeutic grade oils you can find.  Store them in glass in a cool, dark place.

Once you select an essential oil, learn to use that particular oil.  Depending on the oil you choose, you may dilute it and then apply it topically.

You may also use the essential oil aromatically.

Finally, you may decide to ingest it.

However you decide to use the essential oil, learn the best way to use it before you begin your treatment.

SOUND

Sound affects us all deeply and instantly.  Sound is powerful because it changes our vibration.  Going straight to our deepest core, sound alters vibrations of illness and disease.

When using sound to heal, choose those sounds which touch your heart,  your chakras and emotions.

You may decide to engage in formal sound healing sessions.  Or you may simply choose to pay more attention to the sounds in your life. What sounds  promote healing, calming, or balancing?  Which ones are disruptive and damaging?

Don’t underestimate the power of healing music.

MANTRAS AND HEALING NOTES

A mantra is a word which is repeated for healing purposes.

Om is a universal mantra. The vibration of the repeated word is the power in the mantra.  Vibration, not the word itself, is the power in the singing bowls, tuning forks, chants, and mantras.

It’s not necessary to know the literal meaning of a word for it to work as a mantra.

Tools that create notes for chakra healing include Gregorian Chants, singing bowls, and tuning forks designed to heal chakras.

Singing bowls and tuning forks resonate to the energy of specific chakras.  Any word or sound carrying a positive resonance has a powerful, therapeutic effect.

Silence can be powerfully calming and healing.  If you are attracted to the vibration of silence, try to practice it a few minutes each day.

YOGA

Yoga poses have been used for ages to boost and balance your chakras. The poses strengthen and stabilize your body.  They also activate your chakras.

Yoga poses open, strengthen, and balance different chakras based on their location.  There are many different yoga poses, each anatomically related to different chakras.

CRYSTALS AND STONES

For me, crystals and stones live.  Each has a unique vibration which  communicates with our energetic fields.  This communication has the capacity to bring harmony and balance.

The best way to select a crystal or stone is to trust your body’s response.  When you hold a particular stone in your hand or place it on a chakra, how does it feel to you?  Does it feel bad?  Are you positively attracted to it?

If the response is good, you may be on the right track.

Selecting the crystal and gemstones is a personal decision.  It’s hard for someone else to choose your stone.

A good way is to select a stone in the same color as the chakra you’re trying to balance.

For example, if you are seeking a stone to balance your root chakra, choose from red stones because that chakra’s  color resonates with red.

Occasionally, a stone will call out to you.  This happened to me  recently.  Black tourmaline presented itself to me, uninvited.  I saw evidence of this stone everywhere I went.

When I opened books, a picture of this stone would be on the opened page.

When a colleague asked me about stones, she wanted information about black tourmaline.

I visited a tarot store in Great Barrington – and there sat a dish of them, right at eye level.

I simply couldn’t avoid them.

So, I finally gave in!

I bought a stone and silver chain at the Mower’s Meadow Flea Market from a booth there.

I’ve been wearing the black tourmaline for over a week now and I feel totally different than I felt a week ago.

I held out as long as I could and when I finally did what I should have done in the beginning – I felt good.

MEDITATION

Meditations balance and heal on several different levels.

For me, meditations work because energy follows intent.  A guided meditation allows you to focus on your intentions in a relaxed state.

If you are looking to find a guided meditation suitable for your chakra balancing, maybe I can suggest a starting point for you. I’ve used several books for years.  Larry Moen wrote my three favorite books:  “Meditations for Awakening”, “Meditations for Healing”, “Meditations for Transformation”.

I’ve worn out several copies of these books and shared others.

I’ve also written some guided meditations.  You can find them in earlier posts of this blog.

REFLEXOLOGY AND REIKI

Both reflexology and Reiki therapy balance your chakras.  I wrote about this in my book:  “Healer’s Handbook”.

When my chakras need attention, I always turn to reflexology and Reiki first.

While I definitely embrace different healing methods to balance my chakras, I refer to reflexology first.

A reflexology session is my first stop.

Taking Charge of Your Health to Make a New Life

Take charge of your health.

An important decision you make for yourself, it’s one I celebrate!  I want us all to become more conscious of ourselves and take charge of our own health.

Some of us reach this decision because of an event:  injuries resulting  from an accident or diseases experienced.

Some of us reach this decision because of experiences lived during the Pandemic.

And, some of us mature into this decision as an attitude toward our health.

Whatever the catalyst, deciding to be in charge of your health shifts your life’s path.  It’s a reason to rejoice.

But now, what are you going to do about it?

Sometimes people come to my table after deciding to be in charge of their health.  The idea is to give up the physician and replace her with a reflexologist.  Frankly, this is not always the best decision.

When this happens, you are simply trading one coat for another.  And, when this happens, you should be putting yourself in charge, not a reflexologist or acupuncturist or herbalist.

I have been in charge of my health care for years and rely on the training and wisdom of a nurse practitioner.  Not only do I seek information and advice from her regularly, I tap into her information bank with every visit.  She does blood tests.  She schedules MRIs or x-rays or other tests.

She offers information, advice, and wisdom at every office visit.

And, certainly, if you are putting yourself in charge, you may find yourself going to a physician or reflexologist or acupuncturist or herbalist as often (or even more often) than before.

So, then what do you do?

BUILD A HEALTH CARE SUPPORT TEAM

This is a group of professionals who support you in your search for lifelong good health.

My team includes, among other specialists, a Reiki practitioner, a reflexologist, a massage therapist, a physical therapist, a yoga teacher, a podiatrist, a dentist,  a periodontist, an allergist, a dermatologist, a sleep specialist, a  fitness expert.  a pharmacist.

I think you are getting the picture here.

LEARN HOW YOUR BODY WORKS

Buy some anatomy and physiology books.  You are embarking on a new and wonderous journey!

Don’t be  overwhelmed.  Anatomy and physiology books come in all sizes and stripes.  They even come in coloring books.  Try them all.  Especially the coloring books.

You may even want to take a class or two.

You’ll learn much.

While you travel on this wonderful spiritual journey, you are now on a path to learn things about yourself that you never even knew you might need to know.

Definitely use the skills of a reflexologist or reiki practitioner regularly.  Weekly appointments are preferred.

Homeostasis opens many doors!

EAT THE BEST FOOD YOU CAN BUY

An important step to take when you manage your own health is to eat real food.  A cornerstone of good health is the proper diet.  There are many, many diets out there.  Until you feel certain that you are eating the correct diet for you,  rely on   foods which have no additives, preservatives, colors, etc.

I’m sure you understand what it means to  eat real food.

I’m certain that when you do finally feel you are eating the correct foods for your body, you will rely on real food.

MOVE

Your body was made to move.  When you manage your own health, you know how important this is.

AND ON AND ON AND ON

The bottom line is that, as you take charge of your health care, you will develop resources and you will probably never stop learning.

We Live in a Dirty World. Manage Your Detox with 3 Reflexology Body Systems to Workout & 3 Crucial Daily Activities.

When I think of toxicity, the first word coming to my mind is (of course) reflexology!  A reflexology session offers a mild detox.  Often, this detox goes unnoticed.  The person comes to my table with other issues and leaves feeling better, grounded, at peace.

People visit reflexologists with health issues which they feel need spiritual attention.  This focus may be subdued.  In other words, they feel they need spiritual attention but aren’t aware of the situation.  They haven’t yet begun to verbalize their needs.

The words they use include fatigue, insomnia, constipation, headaches.

Whatever words they use, a reflexology session opens a window into homeostasis – the balance of all body systems.  This is what healing is all about.

A toxic body makes healing more challenging.

A reflexology session works three body systems to promote a physical detox.

Your liver is a powerful detoxing organ in your Digestive System.  Your liver does two things to manage a detox:  Its enzymes break down toxins and then sends them off to your kidneys as urine and to your lower digestive tract as feces.

As my Aunt Ruby always said:  “Your good health begins and ends in your digestive system.”

When your reflexologist works your Lymphatic System, the fluids in your body  balance and remove toxins.  This system works on a parallel path with your circulatory system.  Your Lymphatic System works to keep your body clean.

Your Respiratory System focuses on the air you breathe.  You inhale oxygen and exhale toxins.

A weekly reflexology session helps your body detox itself.  You can boost this weekly session by combining it with Reiki therapy and chakra healing.  Or not.  Whatever makes you comfortable is important.

There are Three other things to pay attention to in addition to your weekly sessions.   A Healthy Diet, Daily Exercise, and Enough Sleep.  Each one of these activities is crucial to your detoxing success.

Don’t be put off by The Big Three.  Detoxing can be a journey you start small.  Begin by drinking enough water each day.

Each morning, I prepare two large glasses of water which I drink throughout the day.  On a good day, I get in three large glasses.

For me a Daily Exercise routine can include many different things.  But two things are basic – every day:  Walking 10,000 steps and using my personal trampoline.  I may include other things such as yoga on a weekly routine schedule.  But the walking and the trampoline are daily essential habits for me.

I’ve written many blog posts about exercise and my new book “Wellness for All” refers to exercise as well.

But, one thing I think I’ve omitted to discuss is the importance of exercise to your detox.  Daily exercise is crucial to any detox effort.

When you increase your circulation enough to sweat, you detox!

I cannot overemphasize the importance of Enough Sleep.  My Aunt Ruby knew what she was talking about when she said “When you get enough sleep, you can slay dragons”.

Don’t make any job harder than it has to be.  Sleep your way through your detox every night.  And, include a power nap in the afternoon if you can fit it in.

A Healthy Diet  during a detox will have a major impact on your moods and your ability to stay calm.  This will make you a lot easier to live with as you shed toxins that may have been hanging around for months or years.

You may decide to dramatically change your diet to promote your detox efforts.  Or, you may decide that the slow, gentle release of toxins through reflexology is enough for a start.

Reduce the toxins you ingest in your food.  It can be easier than you think to eat foods that taste delicious and support your good health too!

Another Aunt Ruby guideline:  Small steps create big changes when it comes to caring for your body and soul.

A detox is important to your self-care.  Also important:  Understand why you feel you need to detox in the first place.  Whatever your reason, broaden your goal to include your life – not just your body.

Remember to care for yourself, and our planet.  Include activities that support your emotional health and your soul.

One thing this article refers too in several ways:  You have a choice with detoxification.

You can detox for a day or two days or a week.

You can even take a detox vacation as I did several years ago when I spent 10 days in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, drinking juices and other beverages to encourage toxins to move on out.,

Or, you can take the rest of your life.  Certainly, that’s the easy way.  How does it work?  When you choose to eat healthy, clean foods which promote a healthy body, you are, in a sense, detoxing your life.

Choose to take supplements which support your detoxing efforts.  This means you choose your supplements with care.  All my supplements come from the shelves at Village Apothecary.  I have total confidence in Neal Smoller’s knowledge, experience, and opinions.

You can reach Village Apothecary at www.villageapothecaryrx.com.

You will include sleep, skin-care routines, and cleansing products in your detox routines.  What this means is that you are going for the big picture:  your whole life – not just a smoothie or two.

What this amounts to is this:  Many small steps will bring big changes.

The small steps that bring big changes can  renew your body and soul.  When you take charge of your health and your future, you are the future behind your own change!

Pat yourself on your back, and call yourself a hero!  And, don’t forget to journal about it.  What a wonderful story you will tell!
