The Third Chakra and Reflexology
The reflex point for the third Chakra is the upper half of the instep, below the ball of the foot. This reflex point is found on both feet. Third Chakra issues include
anger
shame
victimization
self esteem
IT’S IMPOSSIBLE TO LEARN ABOUT THIRD CHAKRA ISSUES WITHOUT QUESTIONING:
How important is doubt in your life?
Can you make decisions?
How important is fear in your life?
Are you able to carry through decisions and plans to fruition?
Do you have to be right in every decision?
Do you always have to be the center of attention?
Do you lack willpower?
Do other people control your life?
Do you think for yourself?
Do you act on your own?
Can you survive on your own initiative?
Anger is a third Chakra issue because that’s where much anger is stored. Depending on how the Chakra is balanced, anger can range from no energy to excessive energy. Third Chakra anger focuses on self-esteem because the third Chakra governs our power.
We can feel this anger and need for power in our solar plexus, the home of the third Chakra in the body. This Chakra is where we feel “butterflies” when we are nervous as we develop our personal will.
The third Chakra is closely connected to Chakras one and two as energy moves up the spine from the base. As the energy reaches the third Chakra, it begins to take on a shape and a vocabulary as it finds its voice. The third Chakra is where we develop our own personal truth, formulate our own personal authority, and integrate personal power into our lives.
The third Chakra is the result of the development of the first and second Chakras. This is where we give voice to our truths.
Reflexology for the Spirit sessions offer homeostasis, the balance of all body systems.
Reiki therapy sessions balance the Chakras.
Meditation is important to a balanced third Chakra. An unbalanced third Chakra creates a person unable to manage power.
An unbalanced third Chakra affects one’s posture, body language, and spinal alignment. It’s difficult to separate the physical, emotional, and spiritual difficulties in this area. Yoga helps.
Physically, the third Chakra governs:
Stomach
Liver
Spleen
Pancreas
Gall Bladder
The third Chakra is a major power point. When you work with your client partner’s third Chakra, you offer an opportunity for the person to develop physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

10 Ways the Liver Reflex Enhances a Reflexology Session
The liver is the largest organ inside the body. It’s a chemistry laboratory which helps keeps the body healthy. I don’t think anyone really knows exactly what the liver does. However, physiology and anatomy books tell us it does over five hundred different things.
Reducing liver activities to the lowest common denominator, the liver produces bile used to break up fat and absorb vitamins. The liver is a detoxing machine, filtering waste products.
The liver reproduces itself when necessary if it’s healthy enough.
The liver reflex point is on the right foot. It’s located on the sole of the right foot about one third of the way down between the toes and the heel. VerticaIly, it is below the line between the third and fourth toes.
When you reflex the liver, several things happen:
Working the liver reflex stimulates it to store and release copper, iron and vitamin B12.
Toxic wastes are filtered. This detoxing action is extremely important. Antibodies are produced as well.
Digestion is enhanced as bile is released. This breaks down food into usable nutrients.
Antibodies are produced which boost infection-fighting action if necessary.
Vitamin A is released to assist night vision.
Energy producing nutrients help fight fatigue.
Fresh bile manufactured regularly flushes out the gall bladder.
Fresh bile aids proper digestion which combats constipation.
Blood circulation heals damaged tissue.
Blood clotting is regulated.

Circulatory System – Bottom Line Information, 15 Essential Oils, 54 Foods that Nourish the Circulatory System, and 2 Improvements to be Expected from Regular Sessions to the Circulatory System.
BOTTOM LINE INFORMATION:
A healthy circulatory system is important to a person’s overall well being, physically, mentally, and spiritually. Our blood represents our life force. A key word here is happiness. High blood pressure, for example, can represent an emotional or spiritual issue in one’s life. And, while this may be a situation with emotional origins, it’s not an opportunity to ignore a warning sign.
A healthy circulatory system is necessary to feel and express emotions positively. A high cholesterol level interferes with open channels necessary for accepting happiness. High or low blood pressure represents longstanding unresolved emotional issues. And, of course, callouses on the heart area of the foot are important to the practitioner.
As you work the circulatory system, you have an opportunity to distribute love and healing feelings – improving a client partner’s sense of self worth and balancing blood flow. A person with a healthy heart is more likely to be happy.
ESSENTIAL OILS TO USE WHEN WORKING THE CIRCULATORY SYSTEM INCLUDE cistus, clove, cypress, geranium, grapefruit, helichrysum, lavender, lemon, marjoram, myrtle, nutmeg, orange, peppermint, valerian, wintergreen.
FOODS NOURISHING THE CIRCULATORY SYSTEM INCLUDE almonds, apples, artichokes, avocadoes, beans, beets, blueberries, broccoli, brown rice, butter, cabbage, carrots, cashews, celery, chocolate, coconut, coffee, cranberry juice, dandelions, eggs, fish, flaxseed oil, garlic, kale, leeks, legumes, mushrooms, mussels, nuts, oatmeal, olive oil, olives, onions, peanuts, pecans, peppers, persimmons, pineapple, pistachios, pomegranate juice, prunes, pumpkin, raspberries, sesame seeds, sesame oil, spinach, sunflower seeds, tomatoes, walnuts, water, whey, protein, yogurt.
Of the foods on the above list, the following items are also on Johnny Bowden PH.D.’s list of the 150 Healthiest foods on earth: almonds/almond butter, almond oil, apples, artichokes, avocados, beans, beets, blueberries, broccoli, butter, cabbage, cashews, celery, chocolate (dark), coconut/coconut oil, coffee, cranberry juice, dandelions, eggs, fish, flaxseeds/flaxseed oil, garlic, kale, leeks, mushrooms, mussels, oatmeal, olive oil(extra virgin), olives, onions, peanuts/peanut butter, pecans, peppers, pineapple, pistachio nuts, pomegranate juice, prunes, pumpkin/pumpkin seeds, raspberries, sesame seeds/sesame butter, tahini/sesame oil, sunflower seeds, walnuts, water, yogurt.
So you’ve actually got two lists here. The top list is the list of foods nourishing the circulatory system. The second list is those foods on Johnny Bowden, Ph .D.’s list. In the case of the circulatory system list, the majority of the foods are on both lists. This gets a little complicated but worth knowing. Please let me know if you have trouble with the information and how it is listed.
IMPROVEMENTS TO BE EXPECTED FROM SESSIONS TO THE CIRCULATORY SYSTEM INCLUDE the fact that regular sessions will improve the circulation of the body and help normalize blood pressure if this is called for. There is a definite spiritual aspect to the circulatory system which Reflexology for the Spirit sessions address.

Who Shouldn’t Receive a Session and Why (Contraindications) – Part 2
Advanced Osteoporosis
Use a very light touch and a very short session (begin with 10 minutes) taking care not to fracture bones. Please note: persons suffering from mild osteoporosis or osteopenia greatly benefit from Reflexology for the Spirit. The red flag starts flying when a new client approaches you with advanced osteoporosis. By then, it’s too late for your services without permission from the physician.
Extensive Athlete’s Foot, Etc.
Whenever there’s a rash, an open sore, athlete’s foot, etc., offer hand reflexology instead of working the feet. If you are uncomfortable offering hand reflexology, use gloves.
Advanced Diabetes
Clients with mild diabetes respond well to Reflexology for the Spirit offered to both hands and feet. Offer gentle pressure when working the pancreas. Offer lighter pressure in general for diabetics because their skin may be thinner than usual and bruise easily. also, reduce sessions to 30 minutes or less for new clients.
Heavily Medicated Clients
Persons taking a lot of medicine may have a buildup of toxins. Because Reflexology for the Spirit offers a natural detoxing action you need to take care not to overload the person. Offer a light touch and shorter session.
When you encounter people who shouldn’t receive Reflexology for the Spirit, consider offering Reiki therapy.
There are no known contraindications for Reiki therapy.
It’s easy to learn.
People enjoy it.
It’s easy to combine Reiki therapy and Reflexology for the Spirit.
The list seems almost endless. Remember this: few people with conditions on the above list will ever approach a reflexologist. For whatever reason, they just go elsewhere for their therapy. So don’t get discouraged. You won’t see them.
As always, this post is coming to you from my post in scenic Woodstock, NY.
Our next post will focus on who SHOULD receive reflexology.

22 Reactions to a Reflexology for the Spirit Session
During a reflexology session, several things can happen. A reaction is a sign that the therapy is working. Most clients respond to Reflexology for the Spirit by the 5th session at the very latest. A rule to remember is that we don’t know how a person’s body will respond to or react to any given reflexology session. The responses differ somewhat each time. The body changes daily because of the continuous changes taking place on a cellular level. Also, energy follows intent.
Common reactions include sweating palms and soles, coughing. laughing, sighing deeply, weeping, runny nose, increased urination, more frequent bowel movements, increased vaginal secretions, twitching or tingling in limbs, sudden cramps, electric-type shock up a zone, warmth in treated area, feeling movement or clawing feelings, great fatigue, overwhelming desire to sleep, and/or disappearance of all pain and discomfort.
A common reaction to Reflexology for the Spirit during a session for regular clients is sleep. Many client partners fall into very deep sleep states in which the throats become extremely relaxed. This can be a strong healing state for them. The space surrounding them always becomes quite warm when this happens.
But whatever the reaction to the reflexology session, the time frame is no more than 24 to 48 hours after the session. And whatever the session, this is a sign that it is working. Therefore, the reactions are a benefit.
There are some long term reactions to Reflexology for the Spirit which occur when the client partner makes a commitment to regular sessions received every week to 10 days. These benefits include consistently sleeping better, overall stress reduction, improved circulation, regular bowel movements, a gentle, natural detoxing, and a feeling of improved disease prevention.
These generalized benefits occur in addition to the specific one that the client partners can achieve through regular sessions.
There are many reactions which a client can exhibit during and after sessions. It’s best not to elaborate on them because a certain percentage of people will experience reactions simply because you discussed them. Let them occur naturally…if they are going to happen.
People come to a Reflexology for the Spirit practitioner because they want to deal with one or more issues bothering them, such as sinusitis, for example. They often deal with the sinus problems and then also experience better sleep patterns, overall stress reduction, improved circulation, natural detoxing, etc. This is because Reflexology for the Spirit works to balance the entire body through homeostasis, not just the one problem that was offering symptoms.
It works on a person’s physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual body offering benefit to a person’s overall health and well-being.

Reflexology for the Spirit is an Attitude, Part 2
Although there are stories about people receiving one Reflexology for the Spirit session and going away a changed person, this outcome is the exception to the rule. Generally speaking, several (or many) sessions are needed before the client partner undergoes the changes necessary to bring about healing from the soul out. reflexology, spiritual or regular, is a process, not a pill.
It’s not the place of a reflexologist to provide therapy to a person who has not tried to resolve his/her health issues by visiting a qualified healthcare professional. Reflexologists are not trained to provide services to clients who have not yet received a diagnosis from the primary medical care professional.
Diagnosis is important for the healing process. A person cannot heal without having a name for a disease or condition.
People with issues, who don’t get a diagnosis, never really know what their problem is. Also, their peers never give the person or the condition/disease the credibility it deserves. So, the first step to wellness is a diagnosis.
When a person under the care of a physician comes for regular (or sporadic) sessions s/he needs to continue with whatever meds and/or therapy which has been prescribed by the MD.
This is especially true if your client suffers with cancer, diabetes, heart disease, etc.
Reflexology for the Spirit practitioners work with the diagnosis provided by the health care professional while recognizing, honoring, and offering healing to the soul which is manifesting issues in the sole.

Reflexology for the Spirit is an Attitude, not a Technique, Part 1 of 2
There are diseases requiring conventional allopathic medical therapy, complementary therapy, as well as healing therapy which touches the soul.
Not all reflexology sessions and not all reflexologists are spiritual.
A reflexology session and a reflexologist enter the realm of Reflexology for the Spirit healing when the intention is placed, when the medical condition requires it, and when your client partner is willing to cooperate.
Occasionally, you will have a client partner who seems to be on board with Reflexology for the Spirit but, for whatever reason, is unable to accept the healing balance (homeostasis) that this modality offers. So, you are then back to basic, mechanical reflexology. When a person rejects the spiritual aspect of reflexology, it’s because s/he is too sensitive for the work, the spiritual path of the disease does not permit this effort, the client is not ready to receive it, or it is not needed.
Not all reflexology sessions are spiritual in nature even if the reflexologist has been trained to provide Reflexology for the Spirit to client partners.
Reflexology for the Spirit is called for when the client has an unresolved physical, emotional, or spiritual issue.
Often a person will come to the Reflexology for the Spirit practitioner with a physical or other issue which has not been resolved by a health care practitioner.
(Please note, there is a big difference between a person explaining to you that the MD wanted to do A, B, and C and s/he just didn’t want to go there and someone explaining to you that s/he has gone to several MDs, and tried everything they offered and, still, no one has been able to resolve the issue.)

Swollen Ankles and Feet can be Troublesome to Your Client Partners
Focus warm ups on the swollen areas in addition to your regular warm ups. Schedule appointments later in the day when edema sufferers seem to have the most problems.
Try to get your client partner to consult a medical professional. Often, people don’t realize these issues can be symptoms of systemic problems needing medical attention. You’ll offer relief and solace to the spirit and you are going to reduce swelling but
a physician needs to give a diagnosis.
The underlying cause of edema needs to be addressed.
SYSTEMS TO WORK: warm ups to the swollen areas, urinary system, immune system, nervous system, digestive system with emphasis on the liver, circulatory system, and the solar plexus.
ESSENTIAL OILS: tangerine, geranium, German chamomile, wintergreen, peppermint, lavender, grapefruit, helichrysum.
Thanks again for reading the blog. Our next post is the final one in this portion of the book/blog. It will focus on Thickened Nails and Skin. After the post on the Thickened Nails and Skin, we’ll be shifting gears to focus on other factors important to a Reflexology for the Spirit practitioner.

Sweaty Feet can be very “trying” for a Reflexologist.
For starters, the natural inclination is to just not touch the feet. Don’t worry. Use an antibacterial spray on the feet to clean them off. Wear gloves if you are worried that you’re going to “catch” something.
Remember this: A person with sweaty feet is a person whose Adrenal glands are in serious passing gear.
There are several things your client partner can do. We can’t prescribe these things but it’s nice to know what they are: soak the feet in salt water to change the bacteria, rub the feet with alcohol and let it dry, change shoes and socks often, and spritz with cleansing spray whenever possible.
Suggest a visit to a podiatrist to make certain there are no infections, etc. Whatever the condition, you still have a person with serious spiritual conditions needing your attention regularly.
SYSTEMS TO WORK: adrenals, nervous system, immune system, urinary system, digestive system with emphasis on the liver and the solar plexus.
ESSENTIAL OILS: bergamot, Roman chamomile, frankincense, lavender, marjoram, wintergreen, myrrh, rosemary, sandalwood, thyme, ylang ylang, and spruce.
Thanks again for reading the blog. Our next post will focus on Swollen Ankles and Feet.

Heel Spurs – They Can Be Quite Painful
You aren’t going to offer lasting relief from heel spurs in one visit. However, with regular visits, you’ll see some real improvement. Heel spur sufferers tend to be resistant to both change and moving forward. Life events may be moving forward at an uncomfortable pace for your client partner.
AREAS TO WORK: Reflex the areas around the spur as well as the entire endocrine system, digestive system, lymphatics, nervous system, liver, solar plexus. Reiki therapy is appropriate here.
ESSENTIAL OILS: wintergreen, spruce, pine, Idaho balsam fir, helichrysum, peppermint.
The next post will offer information about indigestion.
Because there’s a little space here, I’m offering a peek at information which will be covered in future posts. We’ll cover contraindications, how Reflexology for the Spirit” works, practical applications. In short, we’ll be covering a lot of information you’ll want to know if you’re interested in reflexology.
