8 Easy Tips for Losing Weight
When you were a child, did you ever hear “Eat everything on your plate. Hungry children need this food.” ?
I certainly did. It never occurred to me that I was never going to help a hungry child get enough food by eating everything on my plate.
As an adult, I found a better way to help alleviate hunger. I donated food to a food pantry or soup kitchen. (And, that led to a whole new career path!)
Leaving food on my plate has no impact on whether another person a block away or around the world gets enough to eat. Donating food to a food pantry or soup kitchen will help.
Do you see that extra serving of lasagna sitting on a shelf in your refrigerator as something you don’t need? Toss it in the garbage instead of eating it. Better yet, toss it before it even gets to the refrigerator.
It’s better to throw the food away before you feed yourself something you don’t need. Eating too much food is bad for your health and well being.
Instead of eating that extra slice of apple pie, get it out of your life.
There are things you can do to prevent overeating:
Tip 1
Schedule a weekly healing reflexology or Reiki session. You will be calmer. Your life will be less stressful. The homeostasis offered by regular reflexology sessions will help make your diet experience easier.
Tip 2
Learn a new hobby: painting, knitting, boxing, walking, singing. Your choices are endless.
Tip 3
Join a gym. When you work out at the gym, you’ll feel better, meet new friends, and look better too.
Tip 4
Learn some healing skills to use on yourself, friends and family. Both Reiki and Reflexology are fun to learn and use.
Tip 5
Replace your hunger for food with water. Your body may be telling you it’s thirsty – not hungry. The moment you feel hungry or thirsty, drink something.
Water is the most important fuel you can give your body. Drink water at the first sign of fatigue. Why? Your body is about 60% water.
Tip 6
Have a water bottle you like and carry it with you everywhere.
Tip 7
There are several hydration apps to remind you to drink water throughout your day, all day. Add one to your smart phone. One example: Waterlogged.
Tip 8
Don’t like the taste of water? Add lemon, lime, sliced cucumbers, frozen berries to your water.

Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner
What are the most important meals of your day? Breakfast, lunch, and dinner!
Why?
When you eat something every three-to-four hours, you provide energy to your body. You’ll be less likely to overeat.
I begin each day with a 5-ounce serving of nonfat plain yogurt which has about 90 calories. I mix the yogurt with a 1/4 cup serving of Trader Joe’s Muesli which has about 125 calories. This mixture is delicious, nutritious, and a good breakfast because it prevents hunger until noon.
Meals don’t all have to be large. The goal is to give yourself nourishment so you’ll be less likely to overeat.
When you plan your meals so that you schedule something every 4 hours, you can choose what you’ll eat in advance. This scheduling not only prevents overeating, it minimizes your chances of grabbing a candy bar.
For lunch, I may have a nourishing smoothie or 1/2 an avocado, or sliced tomatoes.
When you plan your meals, you’ll also be able to avoid pizza, Chinese food or other fast foods.
Another choice is a meal replacement shake with a protein powder base.
This shake will ideally have 20-30 grams of protein powder and a maximum of 5 grams of carbohydrate. There are several brands and flavors on the market. Try them out until you find one with the flavor and texture you prefer.
Sample both pre-made shakes and the protein powder mix. Use unsweetened almond milk or water to make your own shake.

Eczema is both a spiritual disease and a way of hiding.
Spiritually, you have negative attitudes about unpleasant events in your life. You want to hide yourself and how you feel.
Eczema is a fairly common skin condition which is become even more common. Your skin becomes inflamed, red, and itchy, as you react to soaps, detergent, household chemicals, food, house dust, and other environmental irritants.
Eczema’s itchy patches appear on your skin before the redness. Allergies, immune system overload and stress cause Eczema. Flaking skin and a rash appear on your legs, hands, face, neck.
Eczema likes inner knees and elbows of children.
If the condition doesn’t improve within a week, or if it becomes infected, you need to see a medical professional.
Regular reflexology, Reiki, and chakra healing sessions will help manage its side effects during treatment. Regular sessions will also encourage homeostasis as your body normalizes itself when immune system overload is minimized as you clean up your environment.
Eczema triggers which cause outbreaks include animal dander, anger, cleaning products, drugs, foods, fragrances, poor circulation, stress. One of your tasks with Eczema is to identify which products are your own personal triggers.
The most common foods provoking Eczema attacks include milk, eggs, wheat, fish, and foods with soy.
A journal may help you. Keep a diary and pinpoint some potential food and environmental triggers. This will make your eczema experience easier for you.
Eczema happens when your immune system is overloaded so a clean environment is critical. This includes air, your body, car, home, work place, and the water you drink and wash with.
When you clean out the toxins, your health will have a chance to improve. When this happens, your reflexology sessions will be more effective, and you will have a better chance to manage Eczema’s side effects.
In the middle of this, try to get a little sun every day.
This information may be a bit daunting. However, cleaning up your body and the environment where you live and work is easier than you might think. For starters, throw out all your cleaning supplies and cosmetics. Replace them with non-toxic products which won’t worsen your situation.
Then, clean up your diet by cooking and eating only foods which have no artificial colors, flavors, preservatives. Eat nothing with additives.
It has been said that health begins and ends in the color. You may decide to have a colon cleanse followed by a liver cleanse. The important thing is to treat your digestive disorders.
When you clean up your environment and clean out your body, it will be easier for you to cope with stressful situations.
I cleaned out my body and my home and my car and my workplace. It was an effort but much easier than it seems.
First, I identified the products I felt were the least threatening to my body. I did my research and identified Dr. Bronner’s soap as my household cleanser. I chose my creams from three companies: Dr. Hauschka, Jurlique, and Weleda. I chose Jurlique and used it for years. I finally switched to Weleda because I could buy it locally at Woodstock Apothecary.
But, I never replaced the cosmetics I threw out. I decided I didn’t need them. I’ve saved myself many hours and much money by not wasting money on or time applying make-up to my face every day. I saved the cosmetics for parties.
Dr. Bronner’s soap worked well for me because my body liked the product. I chose the peppermint formula and still use it every day My transition to Dr. Bronner’s was easy because the company has a “cheat sheet” with all the recipes I needed. Dr. Bronner’s is also on You Tube. I also liked Dr. Bronner’s because I could buy it everywhere.
I chose my first recipe when I bought a small, glass dropper bottle and filled it with Dr. Bronner’s. I use one drop of Dr. Bronner’s soap when I brush my teeth. (Yes, it tastes just like soap!)
My clothes experienced a transition, too. For starters, I really now have very few pieces in my wardrobe that need dry cleaning. (Non-existent dry cleaning bills were a nice surprise!)
I use Dr. Bronner’s to clean every room in my house. The Cheat Sheet had all the recipes.
CHAKRA
Eczema is a fourth chakra imbalance.
REFLEXOLOGY SYSTEMS TO WORK
immune system, nervous system, lymphatics, digestive system, circulatory system, liver solar plexus
ESSENTIAL OILS
bergamot, carrot seed, frankincense, geranium, helichrysum, juniper, lavender, myrrh, peppermint, sweet orange, tea tree, yarrow
FIELDS OF HEALING
Conventional medicine, Traditional Chinese medicine, Naturopathy, Homeopathy, Herbalism. Eczema responds well to many types of healing. Begin with conventional medicine and then branch out to alternative, complimentary, and integrative medicines.
PREVENTIVE MEASURES
Keep damaged skin moist using an oil-based cream. Apply emollients liberally and frequently, preferably twice daily. Use a humidifier to moisturize dry, indoor air.
TREATMENT GOAL
If you can avoid the itch-scratch-itch cycle and prevent potential infection, your situation will improve.
OTHER THINGS YOU MAY TRY
Bathe in lukewarm water using soaps that don’t contain perfumes or dyes. After you bathe, pat your skin dry. Follow this with a rich, thick, moisturizing cream.
Reduce your exposure to allergens. Allergy shots may be appropriate.
Treat yourself to about fifteen minutes of sun every day.

Anxiety Attacks – a Spiritual Event
Spiritually, an anxiety attack happens when fear takes over the situation. Fear is a huge spiritual issue which can overcome your ability to cope. You feel you are worthless, helpless, and cannot trust life. You feel stuck and limited in life but don’t want to make changes. Stress can be a factor. Fear looms large.
Anxiety attacks usually begin suddenly and peak within a few minutes. Symptoms include a rapid heart rate, sweating, trembling, shortness of breath, hyperventilation, chills, and a sense of impending doom.
For starters, anxiety attacks require professional help. If you visit a Chiropractor, massage therapist, psychotherapist, yoga teacher, schedule your sessions within twenty-four hours to forty-eight hours for maximum benefit of both.
The synchronicity of your sessions (which should include Reiki, chakra healing, and reflexology) will boost the benefits of these modalities. Your sessions will calm some side effects of drugs taken during treatment.
Do you take prescriptive drugs, herbs, or other medications for a medical condition? Make sure everyone on your medical team knows about all drugs, herbs, oils and other medications you take. Ask your bodyworkers to work body systems that apply to your medications, drugs, and herbs.
Bodywork sessions during treatment can balance your chakras, encourage homeostasis, ground your systems, and support your healing process.
SUGGESTED HEALING SYSTEMS
Conventional medicine, Traditional Chinese medicine, Naturopathy, Homeopathy, Herbalism.
Anxiety attacks are a valid reason to seek medical help. They are hard to manage without professional help but they may worsen without treatment. The main treatments include psychotherapy and medications.
Although many things contribute to anxiety attacks, one which is important overall is nutrition. A qualified nutritionist can support your path toward a stress-free environment because what you eat or don’t eat directly affects your day-to-day health.
CHAKRA:
Anxiety attacks are a seventh chakra imbalance.
REFLEXOLOGY SYSTEMS TO WORK: endocrine system, digestive system, nervous system, liver, and solar plexus.
Work all systems which apply to any other health issues you experience.
ESSENTIAL OILS:
frankincense, lavender, orange, Roman chamomile, rose, ylang ylang
THINGS TO DO
Learn a breathing technique to ground yourself in your body. Learn stress management techniques to calm yourself and overcome the stress you experience.
QUESTIONS TO ASK:
Why do I feel so powerless? Why is fear interfering with my daily life?

The Fourth Chakra and Reflexology
The fourth Chakra reflex point is found on the ball of the foot. This is where we find the heart, lungs, breasts, thymus gland, shoulders.
Fourth Chakra issues include:
self esteem
personal power
intimacy
forgiveness
IT’S IMPOSSIBLE TO LEARN ABOUT FOURTH CHAKRA ISSUES WITHOUT QUESTIONING:
Are you able to express your emotions?
Do you need to protect yourself?
Do you have problems giving and receiving love?
Are you living a divided life?
Have you created a protective barrier around your heart?
Do you have trouble forgiving people?
Do you fear rejection?
Do you feel vulnerable?
Is it physically/emotionally painful to move forward in life?
Are you hiding your true self from others?
Grief is a fourth Chakra issue. We know as Reflexology for the Spirit practitioners that grief is housed in the ball of the foot – the heart – the lungs.
The fourth Chakra builds on the lower three Chakras as our thoughts and dreams take on language, expression. The fourth Chakra is where the moment of inspiration which took place in the first Chakra, now becomes entire paragraphs, both spoken and written.
The fourth Chakra links the spiritual and physical bodies as well as their issues. This is because the fourth Chakra is the our energetic center, working to fuse the physical and spiritual bodies.
When this happens, we are able to touch others as well as allowing them to touch our lives. The goal is unconditional love. A good way to get insight about unconditional love is to pay attention to cats and dogs, 2 creatures which practice unconditional love routinely.
Our heart Chakra pulls us into relationships involving
intimacy
risk
forgiveness
sensitivities
fear
grief.
Grief is an important fourth Chakra issue. Grief blocks fourth Chakra energy. Letting go of grief and wounding opens our hearts.
The state of the fourth Chakra is easily seen in one’s posture. People suffering with heart Chakra issues may be
round-shouldered
sunken-chested
stiff
rigid.
Unbalanced fourth Chakras can also been seen in people with heart and respiratory problems. Heart surgery can have a direct impact on the heart Chakra.
Meditations can be important. Meditations focusing on:
grief
heart opening
breathing
can help balance the fourth Chakra.
When you work with your client partner’s fourth Chakra, you offer the opportunity to help him/her release grief. It’s in the fourth Chakra that we find
an open heart,
the energy to give,
and a straighter body.

The Third Chakra and Reflexology
The reflex point for the third Chakra is the upper half of the instep, below the ball of the foot. This reflex point is found on both feet. Third Chakra issues include
anger
shame
victimization
self esteem
IT’S IMPOSSIBLE TO LEARN ABOUT THIRD CHAKRA ISSUES WITHOUT QUESTIONING:
How important is doubt in your life?
Can you make decisions?
How important is fear in your life?
Are you able to carry through decisions and plans to fruition?
Do you have to be right in every decision?
Do you always have to be the center of attention?
Do you lack willpower?
Do other people control your life?
Do you think for yourself?
Do you act on your own?
Can you survive on your own initiative?
Anger is a third Chakra issue because that’s where much anger is stored. Depending on how the Chakra is balanced, anger can range from no energy to excessive energy. Third Chakra anger focuses on self-esteem because the third Chakra governs our power.
We can feel this anger and need for power in our solar plexus, the home of the third Chakra in the body. This Chakra is where we feel “butterflies” when we are nervous as we develop our personal will.
The third Chakra is closely connected to Chakras one and two as energy moves up the spine from the base. As the energy reaches the third Chakra, it begins to take on a shape and a vocabulary as it finds its voice. The third Chakra is where we develop our own personal truth, formulate our own personal authority, and integrate personal power into our lives.
The third Chakra is the result of the development of the first and second Chakras. This is where we give voice to our truths.
Reflexology for the Spirit sessions offer homeostasis, the balance of all body systems.
Reiki therapy sessions balance the Chakras.
Meditation is important to a balanced third Chakra. An unbalanced third Chakra creates a person unable to manage power.
An unbalanced third Chakra affects one’s posture, body language, and spinal alignment. It’s difficult to separate the physical, emotional, and spiritual difficulties in this area. Yoga helps.
Physically, the third Chakra governs:
Stomach
Liver
Spleen
Pancreas
Gall Bladder
The third Chakra is a major power point. When you work with your client partner’s third Chakra, you offer an opportunity for the person to develop physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
