Reflexology for the Spirit is an Attitude, not a Technique, Part 1 of 2
There are diseases requiring conventional allopathic medical therapy, complementary therapy, as well as healing therapy which touches the soul.
Not all reflexology sessions and not all reflexologists are spiritual.
A reflexology session and a reflexologist enter the realm of Reflexology for the Spirit healing when the intention is placed, when the medical condition requires it, and when your client partner is willing to cooperate.
Occasionally, you will have a client partner who seems to be on board with Reflexology for the Spirit but, for whatever reason, is unable to accept the healing balance (homeostasis) that this modality offers. So, you are then back to basic, mechanical reflexology. When a person rejects the spiritual aspect of reflexology, it’s because s/he is too sensitive for the work, the spiritual path of the disease does not permit this effort, the client is not ready to receive it, or it is not needed.
Not all reflexology sessions are spiritual in nature even if the reflexologist has been trained to provide Reflexology for the Spirit to client partners.
Reflexology for the Spirit is called for when the client has an unresolved physical, emotional, or spiritual issue.
Often a person will come to the Reflexology for the Spirit practitioner with a physical or other issue which has not been resolved by a health care practitioner.
(Please note, there is a big difference between a person explaining to you that the MD wanted to do A, B, and C and s/he just didn’t want to go there and someone explaining to you that s/he has gone to several MDs, and tried everything they offered and, still, no one has been able to resolve the issue.)

Swollen Ankles and Feet can be Troublesome to Your Client Partners
Focus warm ups on the swollen areas in addition to your regular warm ups. Schedule appointments later in the day when edema sufferers seem to have the most problems.
Try to get your client partner to consult a medical professional. Often, people don’t realize these issues can be symptoms of systemic problems needing medical attention. You’ll offer relief and solace to the spirit and you are going to reduce swelling but
a physician needs to give a diagnosis.
The underlying cause of edema needs to be addressed.
SYSTEMS TO WORK: warm ups to the swollen areas, urinary system, immune system, nervous system, digestive system with emphasis on the liver, circulatory system, and the solar plexus.
ESSENTIAL OILS: tangerine, geranium, German chamomile, wintergreen, peppermint, lavender, grapefruit, helichrysum.
Thanks again for reading the blog. Our next post is the final one in this portion of the book/blog. It will focus on Thickened Nails and Skin. After the post on the Thickened Nails and Skin, we’ll be shifting gears to focus on other factors important to a Reflexology for the Spirit practitioner.

Sweaty Feet can be very “trying” for a Reflexologist.
For starters, the natural inclination is to just not touch the feet. Don’t worry. Use an antibacterial spray on the feet to clean them off. Wear gloves if you are worried that you’re going to “catch” something.
Remember this: A person with sweaty feet is a person whose Adrenal glands are in serious passing gear.
There are several things your client partner can do. We can’t prescribe these things but it’s nice to know what they are: soak the feet in salt water to change the bacteria, rub the feet with alcohol and let it dry, change shoes and socks often, and spritz with cleansing spray whenever possible.
Suggest a visit to a podiatrist to make certain there are no infections, etc. Whatever the condition, you still have a person with serious spiritual conditions needing your attention regularly.
SYSTEMS TO WORK: adrenals, nervous system, immune system, urinary system, digestive system with emphasis on the liver and the solar plexus.
ESSENTIAL OILS: bergamot, Roman chamomile, frankincense, lavender, marjoram, wintergreen, myrrh, rosemary, sandalwood, thyme, ylang ylang, and spruce.
Thanks again for reading the blog. Our next post will focus on Swollen Ankles and Feet.

Heel Spurs – They Can Be Quite Painful
You aren’t going to offer lasting relief from heel spurs in one visit. However, with regular visits, you’ll see some real improvement. Heel spur sufferers tend to be resistant to both change and moving forward. Life events may be moving forward at an uncomfortable pace for your client partner.
AREAS TO WORK: Reflex the areas around the spur as well as the entire endocrine system, digestive system, lymphatics, nervous system, liver, solar plexus. Reiki therapy is appropriate here.
ESSENTIAL OILS: wintergreen, spruce, pine, Idaho balsam fir, helichrysum, peppermint.
The next post will offer information about indigestion.
Because there’s a little space here, I’m offering a peek at information which will be covered in future posts. We’ll cover contraindications, how Reflexology for the Spirit” works, practical applications. In short, we’ll be covering a lot of information you’ll want to know if you’re interested in reflexology.
Please contact me with any questions you may have.

When You Work Hammertoes, You May See a Real Change in the Person Extending Beyond the Feet.
Regular sessions can offer relief for persons suffering with hammertoes. This spiritual affliction is caused when a person is in a long tern situation where independent thought is being stifled. The person creates a protective shell with the curling toes. Hammertoes are sometimes seen with bunions. When you observe hammertoes, please work them early in the session.
When a person comes to you with hammertoes, you have a situation with the person’s feet and, indeed, life, that is probably not going to be cleared up in a week. It may take several weeks (at least) or months before any permanent change occurs. Your regular sessions during this time will offer the needed encouragement and support so that change will occur.
AREAS TO WORK: Work the toes so they are encouraged, and allowed to straighten. This translates to working the neck areas, the brain, the sinuses, and doing a lot of warm ups and warm downs focusing on the toes and the neck ridge. This carries an extra importance because hammertoes can sometimes be caused by a chronic lack of oxygen. Include the nervous system, skeletal system, muscular system, lymphatics, digestive system, liver and solar plexus.
ESSENTIAL OILS: Idaho balsam fir, douglas fir, cypress, vetiver, Frankincense, lavender, geranium, palo santo, myrrh, patchouli, pine, rosewood, sage, or white fir.
The next post will focus on heel spurs.
The list of spiritual afflictions which respond to Reflexology for the Spirit sessions is very, very long. If you want to see a particular issue highlighted in this section of the blog, please contact me and I’ll add that one to the list.
When we complete the section of the book covering how to work spiritual afflictions, we’ll go on to cover a variety of subjects dealing with all aspects of your practice as a Reflexology for the Spirit practitioner.

Arthritis and Reflexology for the Spirit
The next two posts will concentrate on the issues of Arthritis.
Arthritis is a word used to describe over 100 diseases causing joint pain. It’s definitely a spiritual disease. It’s important for a person who seems to be suffering from arthritis to get a diagnosis from a rheumatologist. That’s the first step in going down the path to proper treatment.
An example of this would be that some arthritis sufferers (as with rheumatoid arthritis, for example) are dealing with an autoimmune condition and the Reflexology for the Spirit practitioner would reflex the feet a certain way based on the autoimmune disorder.
The most common form of arthritis is osteoarthritis. It’s a leading cause of pain and disability in older adults. This is caused by loss of articular cartilage in joints. The joints most affected are hands, wrist, neck, lower back, hips, knees. Risk factors include obesity, heredity, and improper diet.
The best way to combat arthritis, regardless of the kind, is to use a team approach. The arthritis sufferer’s team should include a rheumatologist, Reflexology for the Spirit practitioner, physical therapist, nutritionist, acupuncturist, and a primary medicine practitioner.
The next post will continue with the emphasis on arthritis.

Anxiety and Reflexology for the Spirit
Anxiety sufferers are often adults who feel they experienced emotional neglect and trauma as children. Anxiety can also “run in families”. Sometimes, people on certain long term prescriptive drugs exhibit anxiety symptoms. Anxiety is present when a chemical imbalance exists in the brain. It’s diagnosed by symptoms. And, some experts feel that anxiety affects more women than men.
Offer your anxiety sufferers an opportunity to enjoy the benefits of essential oils and Reiki therapy in addition to Reflexology for the Spirit sessions.
AREAS TO WORK: solar plexus, nervous system, digestive system, urinary system, endocrine system, adrenals, liver and solar plexus.
Always offer a few moments with a solar plexus hold if you feel a person is suffering with anxiety. Reflexing the solar plexus offers the body an opportunity to achieve deep relaxation and grounding. If your client partner is taking prescriptive drugs, herbs, or other medications for a medical condition, please work the body systems that apply.
ESSENTIAL OILS: orange, Roman chamomile, ylang, ylang, lavender

The next two or so posts will deal with arthritis.
