Reflexology For The Spirit

No Section Covering the Nervous System is Complete Without a Post Focusing on Fear

Fear is very definitely an emotion impacting the nervous system. People fear the future based on their past experiences and, for some, this includes past life experiences.
Fear is an emotion locking a person into negativity.
Fear prevents us from moving forward.
Fear is a component in issues involving our first and second chakras.
Fear prohibits trust.
Fear is a component in the saboteur archtype.
Fear does not permit a person to love.
Everyone experiences fear.
Many people visiting a Reflexology for the Spirit practitioner are suffering with fear. It manifests itself in illnesses such as back pain, insomnia, sciatica, ulcers.
So, what do we as practitioners do when we recognize fear on our table?
We do five things:
We encourage the person to seek competent medical care to treat the physical condition.
We work to make the person feel safe while on the table. When the person feels safe, homeostasis will begin to occur.
We offer guided meditations in addition to the reflexology.
We offer Reiki therapy.
As the person achieves homeostasis and begins to feel less fearful, we encourage them to keep coming to our tables – a safe haven.
Eventually the person is going to realize where the fear is coming from. Eventually the person will be ready to overcome fear.

Reflexology for the Spirit sessions can offer relief for pain’s many causes. 8 Questions to Ask the Pain Sufferer.

Pain in any part of your body is a signal that you are off balance somehow. Homeostasis needs to be returned to your body. Do not ignore your pain. It has something to say to you. Let it have a voice.
There are several questions which a Reflexology for the Spirit practitioner needs to ask the client partner:
Where is the pain?
How long have you had this pain?
How does it manifest itself? Does it “come and go”? Does the pain appear when you move a certain way?”
What color is this pain?
What does the pain feel like? Is it sharp? Is it like “pins and needles”? Is it a dull throb?
What does this pain look like?
Does this pain have a voice? What does it say?
What do you need to do to release this pain?
As a reflexology for the spirit practitioner, work the feet in such a way as to nurture the whole person: the physical, mental, spiritual, emotional, genetic person.
We know there is pain when we encounter resistance anywhere in the foot. Our job as a practitioner is to support the client partner on the journey to finding the cause, and dealing with the issues, not only physically but spiritually. We also need to help our client partners release the pain as they release the past which may be causing the pain.
The client partner needs to address the physical issues: seeing a physician, physical therapist, massage therapist is very important. As those physical issues are dealt with, the reflexologist works with mental, emotional, spiritual issues.

Reflexology Blog – Migraine Headaches Respond Favorably to Reflexology for the Spirit

A migraine is a severe headache usually affecting only one side of the head. It’s often preceded by flashes of light, a spot, or a flickering in the center of the field of vision. Nausea and dizziness often accompany migraines. Even though the causes are still unknown, a migraine is believed to be brought on by allergies, cardiovascular problems, disturbances in blood circulation in the brain, exhaustion, high blood pressure, glandular imbalance, and stress.
Migraines definitely have a spiritual component. Persons suffering with migraines are resisting the daily events of life. There is also a sexual fear inherent in persons with migraines. Learning to “go with the flow” is an important lesson here.
WORK THE FOLLOWING SYSTEMS WHEN ADDRESSING MIGRAIN HEADACHES: Work the endocrine system focusing on the pituitary gland and adrenal gland reflexes, work the nervous system focusing on the brain reflexes, work the circulatory system focusing on the heart reflex, work the urinary system focusing on the kidney reflexes.
Regular sessions will promote much needed homeostasis.
Work the solar plexus and the liver.

Insomnia – 10 Things You Can Do To Sleep Better.

According to Michael Murray, N.D., and Joseph Pizzorno, N.D., thirty percent of us suffer from insomnia. The main causes of insomnia are depression, anxiety, stress, foods, drinks, and medications.
There are things you can do to sleep better:
Reflexology for the Spirit sessions definitely help.
Cut out the caffeine.
Limit the alcohol.
Ask your healthcare professional if any of the drugs you take can inhibit your sleep cycles.
Look around your bedroom. Is there too much going on: TV? Computer?
Is your bed comfortable?
Make sure you have the correct pillows: Are there enough of them? Are they comfortable? Are you allergic to the pillows themselves? Are they clean?
What about the room temperature? Is your bedroom too hot or too cold?
For me, the best sedative I know of is Reiki therapy. When I go to bed at night, if I can’t sleep, I offer myself a Reiki session. I’m always asleep before I finish the session.
If you don’t know Reiki therapy, find yourself a teacher and learn. No one ever fails a Reiki class. The classes are usually no more than a day long. You probably won’t need more than Reiki 1. However, if you can work in a Reiki 2 class, so much the better for you.
WORK THE FOLLOWING SYSTEMS WHEN ADDRESSING INSOMNIA: Work the endocrine system focusing on the pituitary gland reflexes, the thyroid and parathyroid gland reflexes; work the respiratory system focusing on the lung reflexes; work the urinary system, focusing on the kidney reflexes; work the nervous system, focusing on the spine reflexes. End the session by working the solar plexus and liver.

Shingles – a Painful, Viral Infection we can all do without.

Shingles definitely has a spiritual aspect. As with some other spiritual afflictions, shingles is a response to fear and tension. People with this problem need to work on believing in the process of life, that all is well.
Physically, Shingles is a painful infection of the nerve endings. It manifests itself as a rash lasting from 2 to 4 weeks and usually appears on one side of the face or body. This rash can be quite painful.
This affliction occurs when a person has had chicken pox many years before. And, finally, in later life it resurfaces. Shingles is not contagious.
One thing everyone can do to prevent this very painful disease is get a shingles vaccine. I realize that vaccines are very controversial but I also feel strongly that Shingles is one disease I never want to experience. Better the shot. Research tells me that of the shingles vaccines administered, no serious problems have been identified.
Also, please note: Research tells me that a shingles vaccine is not administered to anyone under 50 years of age.
WORK THE FOLLOWING SYSTEMS WHEN ADDRESSING SHINGLES: Work the nervous system focusing on the solar plexus and diaphragm reflexes. Work the skeletal system focusing on the spinal reflexes. Work the immune system, focusing on the lymphatic system.
Reflexology for the Spirit is a real help with shingles because the body goes out of balance as it works to fight infection. Reflexology for the Spirit to encourage homeostasis is helpful.

Fibromyalgia – a 21st Century Disease: 3 Things That Help & 3 Things To Avoid

Fibromyalgia sufferers have a whole list of symptoms: fatigue, headache, swollen joints, irritable bowel syndrome, numbing/tingling sensations, sleeplessness, etc.
As if that’s not enough, people with fibromyalgia often suffer with depression because their daily lives are such a struggle. They complain of lacking the strength to keep going.
And, as if that’s not enough, many people suffering with fibromyalgia have made the rounds in the medical community and at least one medical professional has told them their problems are not real; that their disease is totally in their head.
Fibromyalgia is the new kid on the block as diseases go. That’s how it goes when you’re suffering with a disease that’s the new kid on the block.
I have some opinions about fibromyalgia. It may be that many of you will disagree with them. That’s perfectly okay. In fact, I invite you to comment.
My opinions are these:
Fibromyalgia is a real disease.
One component of the disease is the sensitivity the sufferer has toward the toxins in our daily lives. I feel that Fibromyalgia sufferers are sensitive to things like unclean air, unclean food, unclean water.
Three things help in the battle with Fibromyalgia: Swedish massage, restorative yoga, Reflexology for the Spirit.
In my opinion, there are three things to avoid: Deep massage of any kind, all forms of yoga except restorative, and the depressive thoughts accompanying this struggle which is Fibromyalgia.
One effort in its own category is cleaning up one’s diet and environment. This clean up effort takes both time and effort.
Fibromyalgia is definitely a spiritual disease. Reflexology for the Spirit sessions offer a return to homeostasis and a positive time for the sufferer. Both things are badly needed.

Headaches Can Be Spiritual Events – 8 Things to Do.

Regularly occurring headaches need to be checked by a medical professional. If you are having headaches, start a small headache diary. You need to be able to tell your healthcare professional the following information about your headaches:
where they occur on the head,
how long each headache lasts, how severe it is.
You need to be aware of the foods you are eating. Some people feel that two foods contributing to headaches are wheat and dairy products. If you feel food is a contributing factor, you can try totally avoiding wheat for six weeks and see what happens. After six weeks, try totally avoiding any dairy products for six weeks.
Keep a log of your feelings around a headache. There may be an emotional or behavioral component to your headaches.
What is your exercise level? People get headaches when they don’t get enough oxygen. Exercise brings oxygen into the blood and lungs.
Are you an over achiever? Over achievers have more headaches than their regular achieving buddies.
Are you spending too much time thinking, creating, talking, contemplating? This can sometimes create headaches.
The bottom line here is that people who spend time exercising as well as thinking seem to have fewer headaches.
The spiritual component to headaches is, most often, fear. If you are suffering from headaches and there doesn’t seem to be a physical cause, try to accept yourself positively. Try to move forward into the future.
By all means, reflexology for the spirit practitioners, encourage your headache sufferers to receive reflexology regularly. Regular sessions encourage homeostasis and relieve stressed muscles.
Beyond a certain point, all headaches have a strong muscular component which must be dealt with if the pain is to go away.

Forgetfulness Is One Issue Which Reflexologists Can Address.

Memory loss is experienced at one time or another by everyone. It is most often brought on by stress, exhaustion, or the inability to concentrate.
Memory loss is also experienced as we age.
Regular visits to the Reflexology for the Spirit practitioner’s table can definitely help because of the grounding factor. Homeostasis always helps one’s memory. And, of course, it’s difficult to have regular sessions and still be bothered by stress, exhaustion, etc.
One of the most important things a person can do to avoid forgetfulness is get a small diary type calendar and use it. Recognizing the need for this type of calendar is a big event in people’s lives and they all hate it. However, a well kept calendar that is referred to daily can save many an embarrassing moment.
The same goes for keys.
WORK THE FOLLOWING SYSTEMS WHEN ADDRESSING FORGETFULNESS: Work the endocrine system with emphasis on the pituitary gland reflex, the thyroid and parathyroid gland reflexes, the nervous system with emphasis on the brain reflexes. Work the solar plexus and liver.

Reflexology Blog – Menopause: Many See This as a Disease. For me, Menopause is a Rite of Passage

Actually, there is not that much known about menopause.
Menopause is a strong spiritual event in a woman’s life. Many women in our culture experience, in addition to the physical symptoms, a fear of no longer being wanted. They face fears of aging. They experience self-rejection. They feel that they are no longer good enough…whatever that means.
Menopause is a time to honor yourself, your body, your life. It is a time to bless yourself and encourage love.
Honor your inner goddess! You have now graduated. You are a crone.
You now have an opportunity to become a respected elder. Go Girl!
SYSTEMS TO WORK WHEN OFFERING REFLEXOLOGY FOR THE SPIRIT SESSIONS TO WOMEN EXPERIENCING MENOPAUSE: Focus on the endocrine system, the most spiritual system in the body. Also work the muscular system, the liver and the solar plexus. These sessions will encourage homeostasis, a very important part of one’s health

Reflexology Blog: Sciatica is an Inflammation With a Spiritual Foundation.

Sciatica is an inflammation of the sciatic nerve caused by injury, constipation, cold temperatures, arthritis.
There is a spiritual component to sciatica. There are safety issues involved here as there are in all lower back afflictions. Persons suffering with sciatica have a fear of moving forward into the future. Core beliefs are also in question.
Persons suffering with sciatica often have a tendency to impose limitations on themselves. And, of course, money is involved. Sciatica is often slow to repair.
Your client partner may need to also visit a physician, physical therapist, massage therapist, chiropractor, or other health care professional. Sometimes healing takes time in addition to everything else tried. Homeostasis works on its own clock…even with reflexology for the spirit. But don’t give up.
WORK THE FOLLOWING SYSTEMS WHEN ADDRESSING SCIATICA: Endocrine system with emphasis on the adrenal gland reflexes, digestive system with emphasis on the intestinal reflexes, the spine reflexes, hip, thigh, and leg reflexes, and the sciatic nerve reflexes. Finish the session with the liver and solar plexus.
As always, this post comes to you from my healing space in scenic downtown Woodstock, NY.
