Shingles – a Painful, Viral Infection we can all do without.
Shingles definitely has a spiritual aspect. As with some other spiritual afflictions, shingles is a response to fear and tension. People with this problem need to work on believing in the process of life, that all is well.
Physically, Shingles is a painful infection of the nerve endings. It manifests itself as a rash lasting from 2 to 4 weeks and usually appears on one side of the face or body. This rash can be quite painful.
This affliction occurs when a person has had chicken pox many years before. And, finally, in later life it resurfaces. Shingles is not contagious.
One thing everyone can do to prevent this very painful disease is get a shingles vaccine. I realize that vaccines are very controversial but I also feel strongly that Shingles is one disease I never want to experience. Better the shot. Research tells me that of the shingles vaccines administered, no serious problems have been identified.
Also, please note: Research tells me that a shingles vaccine is not administered to anyone under 50 years of age.
WORK THE FOLLOWING SYSTEMS WHEN ADDRESSING SHINGLES: Work the nervous system focusing on the solar plexus and diaphragm reflexes. Work the skeletal system focusing on the spinal reflexes. Work the immune system, focusing on the lymphatic system.
Reflexology for the Spirit is a real help with shingles because the body goes out of balance as it works to fight infection. Reflexology for the Spirit to encourage homeostasis is helpful.

Reflexology Blog – Menopause: Many See This as a Disease. For me, Menopause is a Rite of Passage
Actually, there is not that much known about menopause.
Menopause is a strong spiritual event in a woman’s life. Many women in our culture experience, in addition to the physical symptoms, a fear of no longer being wanted. They face fears of aging. They experience self-rejection. They feel that they are no longer good enough…whatever that means.
Menopause is a time to honor yourself, your body, your life. It is a time to bless yourself and encourage love.
Honor your inner goddess! You have now graduated. You are a crone.
You now have an opportunity to become a respected elder. Go Girl!
SYSTEMS TO WORK WHEN OFFERING REFLEXOLOGY FOR THE SPIRIT SESSIONS TO WOMEN EXPERIENCING MENOPAUSE: Focus on the endocrine system, the most spiritual system in the body. Also work the muscular system, the liver and the solar plexus. These sessions will encourage homeostasis, a very important part of one’s health

Nausea is Extremely Unpleasant. Its Causes are Innumerable.
Nausea is the feeling we all experience prior to vomiting. The causes include digestive problems, stress, balance problems, infectious disease, endocrine disorders, cardiac problems. Nausea accompanies some kinds of drug therapy, surgery, and radiation.
Spiritually, nausea represents fear. The nausea sufferer needs to do things to feel safe.
The homeostasis offered by reflexology sessions can really help.
WORK THE FOLLOWING SYSTEMS WHEN ADDRESSING NAUSEA: Work the nervous system as you focus on the brain reflexes. Also work the endocrine system, circulatory system, urinary system, digestive system, lymphatics, liver and solar plexus.

Dizziness Erodes the Confidence of its Sufferers. They Never Know When the Loss of Balance is Going to Return.
Dizziness has many causes. The flighty, scattered thinking which accompanies dizziness has spiritual effects. People suffering with dizziness will do well to seek a safe outlook on life.
Dizziness has many causes: infections of the inner ear, sudden movements, reactions to certain drugs, and nervous disorders which affect the liquid in the inner ear. These disorders control the equilibrium in the body.
Like other conditions with spiritual aspects, the results are not going to be achieved in the first session. Work toward regular visits for awhile. The client partner needs time to regain confidence in the ability to overcome the dizziness. Homeostasis, after all, is not a pill. It’s a process.
WORK THE FOLLOWING SYSTEMS WHEN YOU ADDRESS DIZZINESS: Concentrate first on the brain reflexes, then work the sinus reflexes, the ear reflexes, the eye reflexes. Finally, work the solar plexus.

Reflexology for the Spirit: Backaches are Very Definitely Spiritual Events.
The kind of spiritual event that creates a backache depends on whether the pain is in the lower, middle or upper back.
People with back issues in the lower back are dealing with money and financial issues. They’re also dealing with core beliefs. These sufferers need to work to feel safe, cared for.
Mid-back issues deal with guilt. These mid-back problems focus on the need to leave the past behind. This person is trying to move forward.
Upper back issues deal with things like emotional support, love. The person needs to feel supported and loved.
When we refer to these issues and their physical causes, it’s good to remember that backache can be caused by injury, poor posture, muscle strain, pinched nerves, stress or other conditions.
Middle and lower-back problems result from injury, poor posture, standing or sitting for long periods of time, tension, improper lifting.
WORK THE FOLLOWING SYSTEMS WHEN ADDRESSING BACKACHES: Begin with the sciatic nerve reflexes. Work the endocrine system, circulatory system, urinary system, muscular system, skeletal system, liver and solar plexus.
As you offer these sessions, you are encouraging homeostasis, relieving stress and tension. The person on your table also needs to go to a medical health care professional for a diagnosis and possibly treatment. Visits to a chiropractor, acupuncturist, physical therapist can supplement your visits.

So, you actually have two lists here. The first list is the list of food which are good for your nervous system.
The second list is the list of foods which are considered to be most nutritious foods on that list.
Please let me know if having the two lists is too complicated. After all, there’s no sense in offering information if it can’t be used.
IMPROVEMENTS TO BE EXPECTED FROM REFLEXOLOGY FOR THE SPIRIT SESSIONS TO THE NERVOUS SYSTEM INCLUDE:
Regular Reflexology for the Spirit sessions create a strong feeling of wellbeing. Over time, they also promote mental function.
Homeostasis, encouraged by these sessions, helps strengthen the ability to concentrate. Because the nervous system is a booster system, it’s helpful to work it to facilitate healing throughout the body.
Encouraging homeostasis through the nervous system include both spiritual and emotional aspects of the body.
Thanks for reading this blog/book. The next few posts will be offering some specific protocols for addressing several nervous system issues.

Reflexology Blog – 22 Essential Oils to Use When Working the Nervous System
Appropriate oils for the nervous system include basil, black pepper, cardamom, cedarwood, clarity, clove, eucalyptus radiate, fennel, frankincense, ginger, helichrysum, juniper, lavender, marjoram, myrrh, patchouli, peppermint, rose, rosemary, sage, valerian, ylang ylang.
When selecting an essential oil for a specific issue, it’s important to consider the entire person: physical, mental, emotional, spiritual. Although essential oils can be very powerful therapies in and of themselves, it’s important to realize that they are not the total solution. Essential oils work best when combined with other therapies.
A first step in encouraging homeostasis is to cleanse the body. A colon cleanse followed by a liver cleanse will often take care of the problem itself.
People trying to address health issues should include proper diet, exercise, supplements, meditation/yoga, and working to achieve a stress free lifestyle.
Efforts should be made to rebuild and nourishing the intestinal system as well as remineralizing the blood and tissues.
When using essential oils, it’s always important to increase fluid intake because essential oils often accelerate the detoxification process. Without adequate hydration, toxins begin to recirculate in the body and cause nausea, headaches, etc.
If your client partner experiences a reaction to an essential oil, temporarily discontinue it use and start an internal cleansing program.

Want to Stay Healthy? Treat Yourself to a Power Breakfast Everyday
And, what might be a power breakfast?
Starting your day each day with a bowl of oatmeal can add years to your life.
When you begin your day with oatmeal, you’ll have energy for hours before feeling hungry. And, more than that, oatmeal is packed with nutrients that fight disease.
Some nutritionists believe that oatmeal has powerful anti-cancer antioxidents.
Heart specialists believe that oatmeal contains chemicals that stop blood vessels from sticking to your artery walls, thus helping prevent the onset of heart disease. Oatmeal is also believed to reduce the need for blood pressure medication as well as reduce cholesterol levels.
Diet and fitness experts claim that oatmeal fights obesity because people who eat it for breakfast experience less hunger throughout the day.
Diabetes specialists love oatmeal because it is a slowly digested food, thus reducing the need for insulin.
Gastroenterologists love oatmeal because it’s a good source of probiotics – the fighters of toxic bacteria in our colon.
Longevity specialists believe that anyone wanting to live longer should eat oatmeal regularly.
All these claims made by health professionals make oatmeal a miracle food!
People really like oatmeal because there are many ways to dress it up each morning:
You can put a couple of tablespoons of yogurt on the top of a serving.
Drizzle honey on the top of the oatmeal.
Flavor your oatmeal with cinnamon or grated nutmeg.
Serve your oatmeal the “warrior way” with dried apricots and nuts.
But, however you enjoy your oatmeal…the important thing is just to enjoy a serving of it every day.

7 Levels of Disease – a New (Very Old) Way to Think About Disease
So often, when we visit a healthcare professional, we want the whole body, the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual, to be considered. Instead, a portion of the body is considered.
Fortunately, this attitude is changing. More and more people are receiving healthcare for the whole person.
Healthcare for the whole person requires a different outlook, attitude. It sometimes requires that we return to a much older model of wellness or illness, as it were.
I offer here a 7-point scale:
Level one is the lowest on the scale. The word for level one is fatigue. If your client partner comes to you complaining of fatigue or loss of appetite only, this person is experiencing the lowest level of disease. As you offer a Reflexology for the Spirit session, try to find out why the person is tired. Has s/he been burning the candle at both ends? What is happening here?
Level two is fever. Try to find out what is causing the fever. Does your client partner even know? How does the person know s/he has fever? How long has it been high? What times of the day is it high? When is it lowest?
Level three is irritation. The operative words here are: headaches, itching, feeling jumpy or uneasy, coated tongue, halitosis. What are the best ways to deal with these conditions?
Level four is inflammation to include colitis, sinusitis, gum disease, etc. Is s/he doing anything to treat these conditions?
Level five is ulceration. As in stomach ulcers or canker stores.
Level six is induration. That is an encapsulated group of toxins. An induration is a health issue that a person’s body has built a wall around. Essentially, the body is saying: “Toxins, I’m not going to deal with you now. I’m going to close you in and deal with you later.”
Level 7 is cancer. So…we go from fatigue to cancer. All these levels are important. The issues at each level must be addressed and treated…not ignored. They are all connected.
Through regular Reflexology for the Spirit sessions, we can address these issues to facilitate homeostasis. And, these conditions are all valid reasons to visit a physician. The reflexologist works on a regular basis to address the whole person and facilitate homeostasis.

Introducing the Immune System
We’re beginning a new section with this post. For the next few posts, we’ll be discussing the different body systems. The first system to be explored is the immune system.
The immune system is the group of organs and glands working together to protect you from colds, flu, infections, slow-healing wounds, as well as more serious diseases.
The major parts of the immune system include the lymphatics, thymus, tonsils, appendix and spleen. The thymus is actually an endocrine gland but works with the immune system.
Think of the lymphatics as the sewer system of the body. If you are to stay healthy and not have colds, flu, infections, etc., it’s important to keep the lymphatic system clean and functioning properly. The lymphatics are a system of vessels located throughout the body running parallel to the circulatory system. They collect toxic waste that seeps out of the blood vessels, control the fluid levels in body tissue, and absorb fats from the digestive system.
They drain the toxins into the lymph nodes which are located throughout the body. If you look at a map of the lymphatic system, you’ll see that there are more nodes located closer to the head and heart than lower down on the body. This leads many professionals to believe that one of the jobs of the lymphatic system is to protect the brain.
The lymph glands don’t have a pump. (The circulatory system has a pump: the heart.) As we move our bodies, we move the lymph.
In the next post, we’ll continue with the lymphatics as well as the other parts of the immune system.
