“Should I Accept Clients Who Smoke?”

Be Free Heart wings

What a question!

“Of course.  Yes.”

“But, what if they smell of tobacco?  I find it very offensive.  And, besides, I don’t want my healing space reeking of smoke.”

Well, I stick to my guns here.  Cigarette smoking is an addiction.  It is a disease.  You accept the client and offer assistance, support, guidance as  s/he struggles to give up smoking.

Encourage the person to cut down on the number of cigarettes smoked in a day.  If you can get him/her to cut back to 5 or fewer cigarettes a day, the final push will be very easy.

When people think of diseases smokers contract,  they always come up with the same usual suspects:

lung cancer

throat cancer

COPD

Emphysema.

In reality, the diseases caused are many more and the health damage done is much greater.

Smoking and exposure to second hand smoke is really hard on the immune system. Smoking ages the body faster.  This results in

wrinkled skin

clogged arteries

emphysema

cancer

impotence.

The most important reason for not smoking is what it does to the immune system.  Smoking wrecks the immune system causing it to become overactive.  And, the effects are often easily seen.

It’s not necessary to see a person smoking to know you’re looking at a smoker.  It’s also not necessary to smell a smoker either.

The effects of smoking can be seen in the skin, hair, nails, eyes, posture.

The effects of smoking can be heard in the classic smoker’s cough.

You cannot help your client partner stop smoking.  What you can do is help with the cravings and other discomfort while they go through the 5-6 week withdrawal process.  Reflexology for the Spirit, Reiki therapy, and encouragement can go a long way to support during this time.

Help your client partner become dramatically healthier.  Nicotine patches are available.  CVS sells a smoking cessation program which helps.

After the 6-week period, you can help your client partner do a cleanse and you can offer support choosing  a physical fitness program.

Water, Water – What are we to do?

DSCN0187

It’s really hard to find clean water.  Our water is so filled with toxins that our bodies have become toxic waste dumps.

So, what are we to do?  We need it to live.

There are 2 issues here, really.  The 1st issue is getting clean, pure water.   The 2nd issue is using it:

drinking,

bathing,

nourishing our planet.

So, what are we to do?  We need it to live.

Getting clean water can challenging.

For starters, filter it.  The filter you choose depends on your budget and your water issues.  Filters come in several different varieties:

pitchers/carafes

faucet-mount systems

under-the-sink systems.

To learn about your water toxin issues,  use your local county water quality report and advice from local water quality experts.

In the past, I used an under-the-sink  system and was very pleased with it.

Now I buy my drinking water.  Water in the Hudson River Valley is so special.  The product I choose is New York Springs USA water, a natural spring water sourced in the Catskill Mountain area of New York State.

If New York Springs USA is not available, I reach for Mountain Valley Spring Water which comes from the Hot Springs National Park in Arkansas.

It just so happens that these 2 waters are spring fed.

If I’m working or traveling or shopping out of the area and need to drink a bottled water, I’ll go for  an ultra purified brand I know and recognize over a spring fed water which I am unfamiliar with.

When in New York City, I drink water offered to me at the restaurant table.  Make no mistake about it.  New York City water is the best available anywhere.  I know this.  I live and work in the area.  New York City water comes from the Ashokan Reservoir, an extremely well protected and guarded body of water.   Catskill Mountain residents love, honor, and are proud of their water.  Nothing but the best is good enough for us.

Although we can’t list things like the vitamins or calories found in water, it’s important for our overall health to keep  hydrated.

Water offers a natural detox as it cleans toxins out of the body which collect in the urinary tract.  Drink enough water often enough to urinate every 2 hours.

Hydration fights fatigue..something we all battle.  There are many tired people wandering around right this minute who are not really fatigued.  They are thirsty.  At the 1st sign of fatigue, drink water and then give yourself a few minutes for your body to react to the needed hydration.

Water helps the body break food into nutrients as it travels through the digestive system.

Sufficient hydration prevents kidney stones.

Water helps strengthen the adrenal glands.

I offer a glass of New York Springs USA to each of my client partners at the end of the reflexology or Reiki therapy session.

As a reflexologist, please encourage your client partners to keep hydrated.  Help them choose the best water for their health and lifestyle needs.  They will feel better.

Colon Cleanses and Liver Cleanses: What do They Have to do With Reflexology?

Colon and liver cleanses are referred to throughout this blog/book.  They’re important to one’s overall health if the goal is homeostasis.  It’s very hard to achieve homeostasis with a toxic body.  Diseases and health issues are easier to deal with when the body is clean.

It’s been said that health begins and ends in the colon.  For me, this statement is true.

Colon cleanses are neither expensive nor complicated.  Basically, you go to your local health food store, select an item from the  colon cleanse products on the shelf, take it home and follow the direction.  Cleanses involve taking pills or powders for a specific period of time such as a week.

For the most part, cleanse product are gentle and easy to take.

Liver cleanses are usually found on a different shelf.  You do the same thing with liver cleanses that you do with the colon cleanses:  Select a product, follow the directions.

Remember:  Complete the colon cleanse before you begin the liver cleanse.  If you take the liver cleanse before the colon cleanse, you may not feel well during the cleanse.   This is also true if you take both the colon cleanse and the liver cleanse together.  The uncomfortable feeling occurs when too many toxins are released at the same time.

You need to have the colon clean before you begin the liver cleanse because when the liver releases toxins, you need a clean colon to wash the toxins from the body.

That’s it.

Thanks again for reading this post.  Our next post will focus on the many benefits of a Reflexology for the Spirit session.  Hope you’ll join in on this post  as well.  As always, this post comes to you from my healing space in Woodstock, NY

Reflexology for the Spirit is an Attitude, not a Technique, Part 1 of 2

There are diseases requiring conventional allopathic medical therapy, complementary therapy, as well as healing therapy which touches the soul.

Not all reflexology sessions and not all reflexologists are spiritual.

A reflexology session and a reflexologist enter the realm of Reflexology for the Spirit healing when the intention is placed, when the medical condition requires it, and when your client partner is willing to cooperate.

Occasionally, you will have a client partner who seems to be on board with Reflexology for the Spirit but, for whatever reason, is unable to accept the healing balance (homeostasis) that this modality offers.  So, you are then back to basic, mechanical reflexology.  When a person rejects the spiritual aspect of reflexology, it’s because s/he is too sensitive for the work, the spiritual path of the disease does not permit this effort, the client is not ready to receive it, or it is not needed.

Not all reflexology sessions are spiritual in nature even if the reflexologist has been trained to provide Reflexology for the Spirit to client partners.

Reflexology for the Spirit is called for when the client has an unresolved physical, emotional, or spiritual issue.

Often a person will come to the Reflexology for the Spirit practitioner with a physical or other issue which has not been resolved by a health care practitioner.

(Please note, there is a big difference between a person explaining to you that the MD wanted to do A, B, and C and s/he just didn’t want to go there and someone explaining to you that s/he has gone to several MDs, and tried everything they offered and, still, no one has been able to resolve the issue.)

Thanks again for reading this post.  This subject will be completed  in the next post.

Thickened Nails and Skin – Spiritual Protection Issues Need to be Worked Through

This is protection, pure and simple.  So, what is being protected?

Secrets?  Thoughts?  Actions?  Beliefs?

It’s not important to know.

So, what are you seeing?  Whatever you observe, no matter how unsightly, or benign it appears, you need to persuade your client partner to visit a podiatrist to treat the physical issues.  As feet age, podiatrists become more important.  There comes a point at which the nails need to be professionally trimmed regularly and the issues presenting themselves in the nails must be addressed.

Spiritual protection issues need to be worked through…especially in the older person because issues affecting the nails don’t heal overnight.  It takes regular visits in addition to what the physician or podiatrist has prescribed to work through them.

Encourage your client partner to cleanse the colon and then the liver.  As always, begin with a colon cleanse first before proceeding to the liver.  These cleanses are important because your client may not see any improvement for months and a colon and then liver cleanse can speed up this process somewhat.  Cleaning out the body is the first step in a journey to healthy skin and nails.

Where the thickness occurs on the foot offers  clues to the issues beyond the physical disease.  Look at the foot.  Where is the thickened skin?  What body part or system is represented?  For example, if a person’s thyroid is out of balance, there will be a thickened place or a callus in that reflex area.

Finally, as a person’s life (lifestyle, beliefs, health)  begins to change, you may see feet with peeling skin.  Hurray!  (Providing this is the change s/he wants.)

When working the feet of a person with thickened nails and skin, reflex the points that represent the problem area.  For example, if the thickened skin is in the area of the thyroid, work that area as well as the endocrine system.

SYSTEMS TO WORK:  Work the systems related to whatever diagnosis the primary medical care person has given to your client partner.  Work the immune system, nervous system, urinary system, endocrine system, digestive system, liver and solar plexus.

ESSENTIAL OILS:  myrrh, lemon, frankincense, tea tree, lemongrass, oregano, wintergreen, peppermint, tangerine, lavender.

Many conditions exist for which Reflexology for the Spirit is appropriate.  However, there is much more information to share with you.  When a client partner comes to you with an issue which you feel may have spiritual layers, contact me and I’ll write about it in a post for you.

Thank you for reading this blog.  It is an honor and a pleasure to serve you in this way.  As always, this post comes to you from my healing space in scenic, downtown Woodstock, NY.

Skin Peeling is an Important Symptom in a Person’s Spiritual Life

Skin peeling on the feet or hands is a sign that the person is taking on a new life.  Things are changing and this is reflected in the peeling.

Reflexology for the Spirit sessions offer support as your client partner has new experiences and takes on new beliefs.  Because changes are drastic enough to encourage the skin of the feet and/or hands to peel, this is a good time for colon and liver cleanses.  Encourage your client  partner to take the colon cleanse first and then take the liver cleanse.

SYSTEMS TO WORK:  nervous system, immune system, endocrine system, sense organs, digestive system, circulatory system, respiratory system, skeletal system, muscular system, liver and the solar plexus.  Reiki therapy is called for here also.

ESSENTIAL OILS:  lavender, lemon, tea tree, orange, geranium, rosewood, helichrysum, spikenard, ylang ylang, German chamomile, cypress, frankincense, myrrh, and oregano.

The next post will be a bit longer because it will deal with Stress.

Psoriasis is an Affliction of an Overactive Immune System

People with systemic infections and a stress sensitivity can suffer from psoriasis.  When a sufferer has a flare-up, the skin cells begin to replace themselves too rapidly.  Scaly patches result.  Several things can be done to alleviate the situation.  regular Reflexology for the Spirit sessions in which the immune system is worked are a good first start toward achieving homeostasis.

It’s appropriate to combine Reiki therapy and Reflexology for the Spirit for psoriasis sufferers.

Violet Flame Reiki therapy or Lightarian Reiki therapy are good choices for psoriasis sufferers if you know either of them.  If not, Usui Reiki therapy will definitely do the job.

It’s helpful for the sufferer to clean out the home, the car, the body, and workplace with pure, environmentally friendly products.  as the cleaning process continues using non-toxic cleansers, it’s time to include an internal cleanse.

Encourage the daily use of body lotions.  Pure products should also be used to shampoo the hair.

Encourage  your client partner to work to achieve a good Ph balance.  Drinking at least a quart of water daily is recommended.

SYSTEMS TO WORK:   immune system, digestive system, nervous system, endocrine system, liver and solar plexus.

ESSENTIAL OILS:  German or Roman chamomile, tea tree, patchouli, helichrysum, rose, and lavender.  Helichrysum is a very important oil here.

Thanks for reading this post.  The next few posts will focus on peeling skin, stress, sweaty feet,  and swollen ankles.

Eczema is an Itchy, Red Skin Irritation which Itches Before the Redness Appears

The eczema skin irritation first appears in itchy patches.

Several factors bring about eczema:  stress, immune system overload, and allergies, all of which will respond positively to regular Reflexology for the Spirit sessions.  However, your client partner needs to identify what triggers the outbreaks and to adopt self-care strategies to control the problem.

Many eczema sufferers also have asthma.

Often, an eczema sufferer struggles with negative attitudes toward events in his/her life.  When these occur, you see an eczema outbreak.

Typical things which set off an eczema bout include certain foods, drugs, animal dander, some metals, fragrances, cleaning products.  Emotional stress, anger, poor circulation, and weather changes can compound the problem.

A little sun daily (10 minutes or so) can be helpful.

As with all immune system disorders, a clean environment is critical.  This includes the home, car, air, water, body, workplace.  Once a person begins to clean out the toxins, the body will have a chance to improve.  Cleaning out involves discarding all the toxic cleansers and cosmetics in the home and replacing them with non-toxic cleansers and cosmetics which aren’t going to exacerbate the eczema.

Your client partner will be embarking on a journey of clean living which includes a diet free of toxins, chemicals, etc.

Since real health begins and ends in the colon, the next step is a colon cleanse.

Once the environment is cleaned up and the body is cleaned out, it will be easier to cope with stressful issues.

A hypoallergenic moisturizer is essential.

AREAS TO WORK:   immune system, liver, lymphatics, digestive system, solar plexus

ESSENTIAL OILS:  lavender, frankincense

Thank you for reading this blog which is coming to you from my healing space in Woodstock, NY
