Tinnitus is a Spiritual Event
One way we perceive our world is through sound. This perception is influenced by our emotions and spiritual reactions to life events. We hear things and we also listen to what we’re hearing. We interpret the things we hear and listen to. We not only hear and listen to events happening around us but we also hear and listen to our inner voice.
My conclusion here is that hearing and listening is both highly emotional and spiritual. Reduced to it’s lowest common denominator, the concepts we hear can touch our core beliefs in ways that go straight to the heart and soul. Our attitudes, opinions, and feelings about what we hear may or may not be based on facts, or statistics, or even what’s real. Often, our attitudes cannot be changed by facts, statistics, or information.
Our feelings, beliefs, educational background and training, life experiences, all influence what we feel, see, and hear. Our responses include these influences.
Tinnitus is a ringing, hissing, or buzzing in the ears which has no external origin.
In my opinion, Tinnitus occurs when a person no longer trusts his/her own voice. Tinnitus occurs when your body tells you it’s time to pay more attention to your inner voice, to your feelings, to your inner self.
Reflexology for the Spirit sessions are important in the life of a Tinnitus sufferer.
Work the respiratory system with emphasis on the sinuses, work the sense organs with emphasis on the ears, work the entire endocrine system and finish up the session with working the liver and the solar plexus. Homeostasis is very important here and that is exactly what your sessions will offer.

Ear Disorders are Both Physical and Spiritual
Physically, ears have many disorders.
Outer ears have infections, cuts, burns, frostbite, ruptured eardrums.
Middle ear problems go with upper respiratory infections. Young children suffer with ear infections. Some of these infections are connected with respiratory-tract infections as well as infections resulting from water or other foreigh substances entering the outer ear.
Inner ears suffer with allergies, infections, reactions to medications.
Spiritually, people have health issues with the ears when a person has difficulty coping with what s/he is hearing. Our ears help us maintain our balance. Listening is very challenging if the subject matter causes pain or discomfort.
At times, it is difficult to hear one’s inner voice. Listening to one’s inner voice may, at times, be more difficult than listening to someone else’s voice.
When offering Reflexology for the Spirit sessions to a person with ear disorders, it’s the goal to offer the client partner an opportunity to experience grounded listening.
Begin the session by working the sense organs focusing on the ear reflexes. Focus on the spleen and liver reflexes. Move to the lymphatic system, and finish the session with a focus on the solar plexus.

Reflexology Blog – The Common Cold is Very Spiritual Indeed
So, what makes up a common cold? Sneezing, runny eyes, muscle aches, coughing, maybe some fever.
Work the endocrine system with emphasis on the pituitary gland the adrenal gland reflexes, work the sense organs with emphasis on the ear reflexes, work the respiratory system with emphasis on the lung and sinus reflexes, work the lymphatic system reflexes. Finish the session with the liver and solar plexus holds.
Colds have a very spiritual side. We usually get colds because of of one or more of the following elements in our lives:
People come down with colds when they have suffered some sort of shock: death or other emotional shock in which grief cannot be acknowledged.
Colds are common in people who are in the midst of change. Too much is going on in a person’s life. A cold allows the sufferer to have a few days to slow down.
Overwork is a popular element in the lives of cold sufferers. People become scattered. They have no time for themselves.
When you think of a cold, think of the phrase “too much”. Cold sufferers have too much work, too much fatigue, too much on the To Do list.
Reflexology sessions really help with this “Too Much” issue. They offer a short period of rest, an opportunity to return to homeostasis, a chance to stop physically running around for a few minutes. Reflexology sessions allow a person’s mind to relax and be at peace. When the mind relaxes, there is an opportunity for words like clarity and simplicity to become a reality.

Reflexology Blog – 8 Reasons to Call a Professional Healthcare Provider if You Have Back Pain
Not all pack pain problems need immediate medical attention. Many times a Reflexology for the Spirit session can offer relief and/or healing. Massage is helpful also. Sometimes a chiropractor or acupuncturist can offer relief. Because of the spiritual aspect surrounding back issues, time itself can offer healing. Reflexology works well with other modalities. Back discomfort is no exception.
However, it’s nice to know when you need to contact a professional about your discomfort. The following symptoms require attention:
Back pain following an accident or other injury
Constant pain which is not relieved by changing position
Pain that continues when resting, especially at night
Fever
Unexplained weight loss
Muscle weakness in arms, hands, legs, or feet
Sciatic pain felt below the level of the knee
Swelling and/or joint pain
Loss of sensation in buttocks/thighs
Urinary retention

Reflexology Blog – 10 Ways to Sit More Comfortably. Sitting is More Difficult Than Standing.
The inspiration for this, and the next series of posts, is a book I read by Constance A. Bean: “The Better Back Book” It’s available through Amazon and is probably available through your favorite bookstore as well. I like the way she listed information to make it easier to read, understand, and use.
Avoid sitting on unstable, soft surfaces such as a very soft chair or a bed.
Always try to sit in a chair with armrests and always use the armrests. This way, you remove weight from your lower back. Use the armrests to shift your weight occasionally if you become uncomfortable.
Rocking chairs relieve back pain as you rock back and forth because your muscles are not held in one position.
The angle on the chair is changed as you rock back and forth.
The chair you sit in should support your lumbar spine.
The front part of the seat should be higher than the back part to make your back more comfortable. Your feet should rest flat on the floor. If you can find a chair low enough to the floor so that your knees are raised higher than your hips, you’ll be even more comfortable. If this isn’t possible, place your feet on a small stool or several phone books to raise your knees. The chair seat should be deep enough to support the entire thigh.
Using your armrests for support, get up out of your seat and walk around frequently.
When sitting for long periods, raise your shoulders and tighten your abdominal muscles and buttocks for a few moments. Then release the muscles and take 2-3 deep breaths.
Balance chairs align the spine correctly.
Car seats and airplane seats are very stressful for spines.
Do not slump in your chair because this habit stresses your spine.
When driving a car, position your car seat forward to make sure the leg is extended as little as possible. This will help you keep your pelvic tilted.

Reflexology Blog – Regular Sessions Promote Homeostasis for the Osteoporosis Sufferer.
Osteoporosis has physical components because it is a thinning of the bones. However, it is a spiritual disease. Reflexology for the spirit is good with osteoporosis if sessions are begun when in its early stages. I believe that some menopausal women are suffering with osteoporosis and are not aware of having the condition.
Spiritually, this disease occurs when a person begins to lose a purpose in life. Sufferers of this condition need to try to strengthen core feelings to prevent fading of the spirit. Sometimes, as people age, they begin to feel lost, isolated, weak, unsupported, vulnerable. They no longer feel comfortable taking responsibility for actions. They become unwilling to speak up and ask for things they need.
Regular sessions can offer stress relief and promote homeostasis.
When addressing osteoporosis issues, work the entire skeletal system reflexes. Also work the muscular system, nervous system, liver, and solar plexus.
Encourage the client partner to take up hatha yoga. Some people, who don’t know about yoga, don’t realize just how therapeutic this modality can be for the osteoporosis sufferer.
Diet is extremely important with osteoporosis. It’s important for your client partner to work with a nutritionist to treat osteoporosis.

Reflexology Blog – Depression: How Reflexology for the Spirit Can Help.
“Being depressed is the most unsung source of suffering in the world. It is a disease of the soul and chemicals alone cannot heal it.” – Deb Shapiro
Depression has many causes: anger, confusion, death of a loved one, exhaustion, failure, hormone imbalance, hurt, loneliness, old age, rage, stress, trauma, unresolved feelings.
Depression becomes an overwhelming problem as a person struggles to survive and make ends meet in an increasingly complex society.
Depression can be an underlying cause of many other diseases: respiratory diseases affecting the chest and lungs, alcoholism, compulsive eating, and many other ailments.
It depresses the body as well as the mind. So it’s important to move…arms, legs, joints. Keeping the body moving when suffering with depression is important.
Incidents can trigger depression such as loss of a job, divorce, death in the family, having to move, financial worries.
A person suffering with depression needs to go to a therapist for regular visits. S/he needs to get a physical to determine what underlying causes might be involved. S/he needs to have the diet carefully scrutinized to learn what nutritional imbalances exist.
Regular Reflexology for the Spirit sessions can definitely help. Reflexology sessions work to return the body to homeostasis
When offering reflexology to a person suffering with depression, begin by working the solar plexus and diaphragm reflexes. Work the endocrine system with emphasis on the pituitary gland reflexes, the thyroid and parathyroid reflexes. Work the respiratory system with emphasis on the lung reflexes. Work the urinary system with emphasis on the kidney reflexes. Finally, work the spinal reflexes.

Foods nourishing the skeletal system include:
apples, beans, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, butternut squash, canned salmon with bones, collard greens, endive, flaxseed oil, fresh vegetables, green beans, green tea, kale, leafy greens, legumes, low-fat yogurt, mackerel, milk, mustard greens, nonfat cheeses, nuts, onions, oranges, oysters, peppers, pineapple, pomegranate juice, pumpkin, salmon, seafood, seeds, spinach, strawberries, sweet potatoes, tea, tofu, turnips, whole grains, yogurt.
Of those foods, the following list includes those on Johnny Bowden, Ph.D.’s list of the 150 Healthiest Foods on Earth:
apples, beans, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, collard greens, endive, flaxseed oil, green beans, kale, mackerel, milk (raw, organic), mustard greens, onions, oranges, oysters, peppers (hot), peppers (sweet), pineapple, pomegranate juice, pumpkin, salmon (wild Alaskan), strawberries, sweet potatoes, tea, turnips, whole grains, yogurt
So, you’ve actually got two lists here. The top list is the list of foods nourishing the skeletal system. The second list is those foods which are on Johnny Bowden’s list. It’s a little complicated but I feel the information is worth knowing. Please let me know if you disagree.
5 Improvements are to be expected from sessions to the skeletal system:
They alleviate arthritis as well as other diseases and issues.
Tension and stress are reduced, sometimes quite dramatically with repeated sessions.
Aches and pains are relieved.
Regular sessions work to restore mobility.
Because many bone issues are spiritual in nature, regular Reflexology for the Spirit sessions help heal the skeletal system on the spiritual level.

A Meditation: Journey to the stars. Find an angel.
Turn off the phone.
Close the doors.
Turn on some quiet, meditative music.
Get comfortable and relax. Breathe deeply as your entire body settles down.
You are in a very ornate elevator now…riding up. Count the floors. One. Two. Three. Four. Keep counting. Allow your breathing and body to relax. Just let go. Feel yourself relaxing and letting go. Feel yourself becoming lighter.
PAUSE
Now, as you are becoming more and more relaxed, you realize that you are not in an elevator anymore. You are in a beautiful bubble…this beautiful bubble has an iridescent shine. This bubble protects you and propels you up and up into the sky. This bubble is filled with energy of the cosmos…of heaven.
You look down below you and see tree tops, roof tops, busy highways, beautiful green meadows, patches of forest…As you travel higher and higher, you know that you’ll return to earth when you are ready.
You find yourself traveling higher and higher through puffy clouds.
PAUSE
Soon you can see the earth. You see it with a soft glow. You continue to float up, up, and away. You climb higher and higher and higher in this bubble and you begin to see stars and planets.
You begin to hear a faint sound…the sound of angels singing. You notice that you have never heard such beautiful music in your entire life. Your surroundings in the bubble are taking on a special light. You feel that you are surrounded with love, happiness, harmony, peace. You want to stay here. You feel you have come home.
Take note of what this space looks like. What colors do you see? The sounds of the angels singing and playing music are becoming more and more clear.
You begin to notice you are seeing wings and faces of angels that you feel as if you know and have known for ages. One angel steps up to you. This angel has a message for you. Quietly listen and remember what the angel has to say to you. Take note of how this angel looks to you. What are the colors surrounding this angel? How does the space inside the bubble look now? What feelings are you experiencing now?
PAUSE
This event: the angels – the message – the music – the colors – the feelings have been a blissful homecoming. You have encountered a holy space. You will remember this space to return to in the future for strength, nourishment.
You have been blessed. You accept the gifts of love, light, happiness, health, that have been given to you here.
Your bubble begins to slowly descend toward the earth. You travel through the stars and planets and clouds.
Once again you see the earth. You realize this planet needs healing and you begin to send healing thoughts, prayers, energy to the planet earth. You choose a spot on the earth and focus the energy there.
As you send energy, you envision health, wholeness, wellness, balance, unconditional love. Just as the Mother Earth has nurtures all living things, you send a healing intention to the planet earth.
You continue traveling to the planet filled with a sense of calm and peace.
As you gently return to this room, you remember the message you received. You feel refreshed, healed, rejuvenated, happy to have received your angelic message and happy to share the healing with the planet.

No Section Covering the Nervous System is Complete Without a Post Focusing on Fear
Fear is very definitely an emotion impacting the nervous system. People fear the future based on their past experiences and, for some, this includes past life experiences.
Fear is an emotion locking a person into negativity.
Fear prevents us from moving forward.
Fear is a component in issues involving our first and second chakras.
Fear prohibits trust.
Fear is a component in the saboteur archtype.
Fear does not permit a person to love.
Everyone experiences fear.
Many people visiting a Reflexology for the Spirit practitioner are suffering with fear. It manifests itself in illnesses such as back pain, insomnia, sciatica, ulcers.
So, what do we as practitioners do when we recognize fear on our table?
We do five things:
We encourage the person to seek competent medical care to treat the physical condition.
We work to make the person feel safe while on the table. When the person feels safe, homeostasis will begin to occur.
We offer guided meditations in addition to the reflexology.
We offer Reiki therapy.
As the person achieves homeostasis and begins to feel less fearful, we encourage them to keep coming to our tables – a safe haven.
Eventually the person is going to realize where the fear is coming from. Eventually the person will be ready to overcome fear.
