Getting to Know the Tower

The Tower is dreaded and often misunderstood.  You’ve been stopped on the spot and are now in the midst of  huge shift. It’s time to change the way you have been living.

When some kind of upheaval or collapse from an outside source occurs, you have a chance to rebuild your life.  This event, while disturbing or even traumatic, is your opportunity to change.  While you cannot avoid the event, you have been given a gift to move on to a better place.

Know this:  The system, building, or relationship that collapsed wasn’t working very well to begin with.

Look at it this way:  The disaster you’re looking at is no longer sustainable.    This event was coming.  For all the confusion and stress, you are at a moment in time of liberation.  Go for it.

Trust this:  Your event is happening for a reason. Bring on the resurrection!

Because this is a moment of awakening, take a few days to figure out the best way to move forward.

It’s time to find your new place – either physically or spiritually or both  – if progress is a goal.

You may think you’ll never recover – but you will.  Think of it this way:  You’ve just been liberated.  Caution have been thrown to the winds and your boundaries are exploded.

This is your time of personal development, happiness, and spiritual growth.

Accept this powerful event.  The benefits are real even though you don’t yet understand them.   It’s time to rebuild!  Align and stay in the present tense.

Story

About the time Nixon plotted Watergate, my husband Tony found, and married a really cute little nineteen-year-old in a whirlwind romance.  When this happened, I was upset.

After a few weeks, I realized I was young and felt my daughters and I would be better off in Texas anyway.  I put Jennette, Michele, and myself and the clothes on our backs aboard a green bus carrying people, chickens, and pigs.  And, actually, it was pretty easy to leave the cook books, the furniture, and china behind.  We headed for San Antonio, Texas, and I never looked back.  In Laredo, we switched to an American bus without the farm animals.

While I packed my daughters off to Texas, my Mexican in-laws rejoiced.  They had a few parties to celebrate my departure.  After all, I just wasn’t the right person for them.  I didn’t drink enough and didn’t gamble at all.

And, in my heart of hearts, I never figured a Mexican divorce to be worth the paper it was printed on.  Why should I even bother?

Decades later, I look back on this phase of my life and believe I did the right thing.  I brought my daughters back to Texas and raised them as Americans.  This was important to me and was probably my primary reason for returning home.

Energetic Balance

In the midst of a Tower event, check in with yourself.  Ask yourself:  How are you doing?  This is also a good time to practice some slow, relaxing, rejuvenating yoga.  The idea is to keep your muscles calm.  Take yourself outside every day, even for a few short breaths.

Meditation

Go to your safe, private meditation place.  Sit in a comfortable place where you keep your spine straight, and your shoulders relaxed.  Your feet make contact with the earth, and allow the chair to support your body.

Close your eyes.  Focus on your breath. Begin to relax as you breathe in and out.  Observe your breath as you inhale and exhale.

You inhale and exhale more deeply.  As this happens, your breathing becomes deeper, slower.

As you inhale and exhale, move your breath to focus on other body parts.  As your breathing moves to different body parts, you find tension. Wherever you find this tension, exhale the stress.

As your attention moves to your arms and hands, you inhale in appreciation for all they do.

Your arms and hands relax.

As you focus your attention on your shoulders and neck, they relax.  Breathe in appreciation and breathe out stress.

Take a few in-and-out breaths as you enjoy this relaxation.

Focus now on your chest area. Inhale gratitude for your heart and lungs.  Exhale stress, tightness.

Move on to your abdomen.  Encourage it to soften.  Exhale deeply as this happens.

Notice your buttocks now.  Breathe in relaxation.  Allow toxins to release.  .

Send gratitude to your legs, thighs, knees, lower legs, ankles.  Appreciate the work they do today as they carry you where you need to go.

Focus on your feet and toes now.  Send gratitude to the many bones and muscles in your feet and toes.  Acknowledge the support they give and the work they do.

Encourage your breath to scan your body, removing any tension that remains.    Let each breath relax you more and more.

Finally, focus on your mind and emotions.  Notice your burdens:  your activities, your work, your errands, your cares.  As you exhale deeply, allow them to dissipate and disappear.

Send these burdens on their way.

You are in your present moment now.  You are in the here and now.  You feel lighter, refreshed, relaxed.  Your body and mind feel free now.

Take a few inbreaths and outbreaths now.  Move gently now.  Let your body stir.

Open your eyes now.  Look around.

You are now ready to  move on in this day.

Where Are You Hiding?

I admit it….. Volunteering changed my life.

The message here is this:  Don’t read this article if you’re happy where you’re at.

And…..

Skip this article if you don’t want to change your life.  Or, maybe, even ruin it forever.  Because, it’s just possible that, like myself, you’ll never again ignore the plight of people living on the margins.

It’s also possible you’ll find a community.  Everywhere I go, I encounter people living in new surroundings they discovered during the pandemic.  They live in the new place but are not yet a part of the location.

To put it bluntly:  They haven’t yet found a community.  To do that, they need an activity which calls them to do something beyond themselves.

People in this situation are homesick for a past which is not going to join them in the future.

To feel good about your home and your life in the present moment, find a place, a job, a hobby, a community which feeds you physically and spiritually.

This is where volunteering comes in.  When I began working at the food pantry,  I had no inkling that my old life was gone forever.  I had no clue that what would replace it was a  much richer tapestry.

I didn’t know I was being given an opportunity to do something great beyond myself.  Why was I hiding?

I simply immersed myself  in my community doing what needed to be done.  This brought a pivot in my life.

So, I ask you:  Are your curtains up?  Have you got the sofa where you want it in the living room?  If the answer to these two questions is “YES”, then where are you hiding?  Go for it!

You’ll soon be motivated to a more positive attitude because your self-image and social esteem are improved.  You’ll feel better about yourself.

Don’t know where to go?  Look around you.  Opportunities are all over the place.

Think about something you like:  dogs and cats, art, reading, children, politics.

When you find your volunteering place, you’ll see change.  You’ll discover what the word “impact” means.  You’ll write a new chapter in your life.

But, what if you don’t want to involve yourself in life on the margins?

What ifs are all around you.  But, they are not everywhere.  Scout around and find yourself a Reiki Master Teacher and go for it!  New horizons wait for you in Reiki, that’s for sure.  Your inner self is calling out.

ENJOY!

3 Healing Anchors & Spiritual Weight Loss Over the Holidays

Three  healing anchors and spiritual weight loss over the holidays really help the situation.  Really.

Welcome to the holidays – December 2023 edition.  They come around every year.  Are you feeling “burned out” by all the activities, not only in your life, but in the lives of those around you?

There are things you can do – things we can all do:

We know ahead that the holidays are coming – with all their frustrations, confusions, and time crunches.

WEEKLY HEALING SESSIONS

Schedule some weekly healing sessions.  If budget is a factor, learn Reiki and exchange sessions with a fellow practitioner.

I always recommend Reiki therapy and reflexology sessions but there are many different modalities to choose from.  Whatever you choose – go for it.

You aren’t pampering yourself.  You’ll get through the holidays much better with some healing attention to your inner self.

MORNING WAKE-UP CALL

Whatever your wake-up activities, your attitude and outlook are the determining factors.  When you go to bed at night, spend a few moments reviewing things  you want to do tomorrow.  Plan at least one positive activity for each morning.

When you wake up the next morning, review all the positive things to do today – for yourself – for those around you.  Plan your successful day when you wake up.

WHEN THINGS GET HECTIC – JUST BREATHE!

Take a deep breath.  This will energize and empower you.  Taking a deep breath is taking a short time out.  Deep breathing means you stop, and take a deep breath inhaling from your stomach.  Inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth.

When you inhale from your stomach through your nose, your lungs will fill completely with air.  Hold this breath for 1 or 2 seconds and then exhale through your mouth.

Repeat.

If you are alone, go for 10 repetitions.  If you are in a crowd, 1 repetition can do a lot for you.

LET IT GO

Spend a few moments each day just letting go of negativity.  What is holding you back?  Let it go.

When you finally learn to release all these negative and less-than-useful events, thoughts, and habits weigh us down.

One thing I love to do is “Cut the Cord”.  This is not a new thing and it was not new when I learned it from Helaya Priest.

This is what Helaya Priest taught me to do:

Pay attention to the negative thoughts, events and habits and how they attach to ourselves.  They attach with energetic cords. Using your hand, slice the cords one-by-one.

The cut cords can now leave you and your energetic space.

Now, visualize all those thoughts, events, and habits floating away.

This is a good exercise for anything you are releasing.  You can also send blessings to go along with the things you are getting rid of.

Now, and this important, take a moment to celebrate.  You are releasing much into the universe.  These things can no longer drag you down.  You are setting yourself free.

Enjoy the sense of lightness you experience when you release anything that holds you back.

Now, see your way ahead through the holidays.

I discovered Archangel Gabriel just a few years ago, in December right before Christmas.

.  My Friday show, “Let’s Live with Thurman Greco”, on Woodstock’s educational TV channel 23 needed a guest.

Nobody would come on my show that week.  What was I going to do?  In desperation, I decided to read the age-old story of the birth of the baby Jesus.

This need for a guest on my Christmas Week show changed my life.  How?

Well, for sure I had read and heard the story of the birth of the Baby Jesus throughout my life.  As a “cradle Episcopalian” .  It was impossible to avoid.

There’s a difference between hearing the story at a religious Christmas service and reading it for a live audience.

Many questions surfaced that evening.  And, as I sought answers, I found even more questions.

Then, of course, I actually read the story in a different way because I knew I would be reading it for a live TV audience.

The annunciation came alive for me.

Archangel Gabriel walked up to Mary and changed the world.  “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God.  You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus.”  (Luke 1:30-31).

Then, having changed the future of the world, Archangel Gabriel left her.

Many questions and answers later, the story is now an ebook.  The paper version is on its way now.

This story has many characters beyond Archangel Gabriel, Mary, and Jesus.  The cast includes Joseph, John the Baptist, and others.

I hope you’ve had a chance to visit this YouTube channel.  “Let’s Live with Thurman Greco is a positive, entertaining series of interviews which I’ve conducted throughout the last 15 or so years.  There have been a few intermissions, but not many.

My guests enjoy being on the show and many ask to return.  One thing they all have in common:  we’ve all met each other in Woodstock, NY.

Healthy Lunch

Do you sometimes have trouble getting through the afternoon?  Maybe it’s time to invest in a healthy lunch.

A healthy lunch doesn’t have to be just an extension of an already over packed morning.  A healthy lunch should be a  respite from the confusion and stress of the morning leading up to the lunch hour.

TAKE A WALK – Whether you work in an office, factory, retail outlet, or home, walking  is a good way to make your lunch a bit more enjoyable and healthy.  Your lhealthy lunch walk doesn’t have to be long.  Nor is it a substitute for  food.  It is a chance to change your environment and move your muscles for a few minutes.

TAKE A POWER NAP – Five or ten minutes devoted to putting one’s feet up and closing one’s eyes can change your life.  No kidding.  A few minutes sleeping in the middle of the day makes a lot of difference in the remainder of my day.  And, it can make the same difference in yours.

MAKE YOUR LUNCH HEALTHY.  Healthy, clean food can make a world of difference in how you function in the afternoon.  Basically, that means you eat foods that are food.  Boycott  chemical laden lunches which are low in nutrition and high in calories and toxic additives.

GET AWAY FROM YOUR DESK.  No matter how stressful things are, physically remove yourself from your desk for at least fifteen minutes.  Take a walk.  Chat with a couple of working colleagues.  Make a personal call or two.  Your goal is to take yourself away from the desk physically, mentally, emotionally for a few moments.

DO YOU RUN ERRANDS?  Walk them if  you can.  The exercise you get on your lunch break will refresh you physically, mentally, and emotionally.

ARE YOU ON A DIET?  Start a lunch group where you eat with other colleagues who are also interested in weight management, health, and nutrition.  You can enjoy the group socially as well as support each other as you lose weight.

YOUR HEALTHY LUNCH BEGINS WITH A HEALTHY BREAKFAST.  It’s much harder to eat a healthy lunch if you’ve skipped breakfast and are hungry and craving high-fat, high calorie, high carb foods.  A good breakfast which includes whole grains and lean proteins will serve you well throughout the morning.

INCLUDE A HEALTHY SOUP.  A healthy soup will include the protein and fiber you’ll need to get through the afternoon.  The ideal soup will be broth based and will make you feel full while  not wasting calories.

LEAVE YOUR BUILDING.  GET OUTSIDE.  Whether you are running errands, power walking, or visiting with friends, make sure you walk outside your building for a few minutes.  Take a few deep breaths.  Be outside.  Is it raining?  Snowing?  Broiling hot?  Whatever is happening outside your building, spend a couple of minutes experiencing this day.  Enjoy a couple of minutes of this escape to recharge!

No matter how stressful your day, consider how best to use your lunch time.

Go for it!
