Eye Infections and Reflexology for the Spirit

Physically, eye infections are caused by viruses and bacteria. Infections usually are found on the surface of the cornea, the lining of the eyelid, or in the sebaceous glands.
When the left eye is affected, I feel that the person has a lack of joy, fun, and creativity. Instead, the person is finding life to be hard, challenging, and a struggle. As these things happen, the sufferer begins to focus on the negativity and “Loses sight” of the positive things in life.
When the Right eye is affected, I feel that the person is experiencing challenges in abundance, relationships, moving forward in life. The person becomes irritated with him/herself and is unable to “see how the situation can be changed for the positive”.
With eyes, of course, it all boils down to how things are perceived. So, with our eyes, we see far more than just the object…unless we don’t want to see. And, our perceptions are all colored by our upbringing, education, learned biases, life experiences.
When offering reflexology to a person suffering with an eye infection, work the urinary system with a focus on the kidney reflexes. Work the sense organs with a focus on the eye reflexes. Work the spleen reflex. Work the liver and solar plexus. End the session by working the lymphatic system.

Reflexology Blog – The Common Cold is Very Spiritual Indeed

So, what makes up a common cold? Sneezing, runny eyes, muscle aches, coughing, maybe some fever.
Work the endocrine system with emphasis on the pituitary gland the adrenal gland reflexes, work the sense organs with emphasis on the ear reflexes, work the respiratory system with emphasis on the lung and sinus reflexes, work the lymphatic system reflexes. Finish the session with the liver and solar plexus holds.
Colds have a very spiritual side. We usually get colds because of of one or more of the following elements in our lives:
People come down with colds when they have suffered some sort of shock: death or other emotional shock in which grief cannot be acknowledged.
Colds are common in people who are in the midst of change. Too much is going on in a person’s life. A cold allows the sufferer to have a few days to slow down.
Overwork is a popular element in the lives of cold sufferers. People become scattered. They have no time for themselves.
When you think of a cold, think of the phrase “too much”. Cold sufferers have too much work, too much fatigue, too much on the To Do list.
Reflexology sessions really help with this “Too Much” issue. They offer a short period of rest, an opportunity to return to homeostasis, a chance to stop physically running around for a few minutes. Reflexology sessions allow a person’s mind to relax and be at peace. When the mind relaxes, there is an opportunity for words like clarity and simplicity to become a reality.

Insomnia – 10 Things You Can Do To Sleep Better.

According to Michael Murray, N.D., and Joseph Pizzorno, N.D., thirty percent of us suffer from insomnia. The main causes of insomnia are depression, anxiety, stress, foods, drinks, and medications.
There are things you can do to sleep better:
Reflexology for the Spirit sessions definitely help.
Cut out the caffeine.
Limit the alcohol.
Ask your healthcare professional if any of the drugs you take can inhibit your sleep cycles.
Look around your bedroom. Is there too much going on: TV? Computer?
Is your bed comfortable?
Make sure you have the correct pillows: Are there enough of them? Are they comfortable? Are you allergic to the pillows themselves? Are they clean?
What about the room temperature? Is your bedroom too hot or too cold?
For me, the best sedative I know of is Reiki therapy. When I go to bed at night, if I can’t sleep, I offer myself a Reiki session. I’m always asleep before I finish the session.
If you don’t know Reiki therapy, find yourself a teacher and learn. No one ever fails a Reiki class. The classes are usually no more than a day long. You probably won’t need more than Reiki 1. However, if you can work in a Reiki 2 class, so much the better for you.
WORK THE FOLLOWING SYSTEMS WHEN ADDRESSING INSOMNIA: Work the endocrine system focusing on the pituitary gland reflexes, the thyroid and parathyroid gland reflexes; work the respiratory system focusing on the lung reflexes; work the urinary system, focusing on the kidney reflexes; work the nervous system, focusing on the spine reflexes. End the session by working the solar plexus and liver.

Reflexology Blog: Nervous System Bottom Line – 6 Important Things To Remember

The nervous system is a booster system in Reflexology for the Spirit sessions and should be worked whenever you seek to resolve an issue for a client.
Reflex the brain and spinal column within the first few minutes of a session.
Combining a focus on the nervous system and the immune system in a session can result in powerful things happening.
When you reflex the nervous system, you communicate with the energetic body. The spiritual implications of this can be profound.
People with nervous system issues sometimes overload the channels of communications. When they open their hearts to loving communications, they can feel safe and well.
Working the toes and arches and arches has a calming effect on the nervous system, offering soothing feelings to the nerves. This encourages homeostasis.
Working the nervous system facilitates a change of mind and a better attitude toward life.
When people are nervous, they feel fear, anxiety, rushing thoughts. In this state, it’s hard to trust the processes of life. Working the nervous system allows people to communicate with their hearts.
In our next post, we’re going to focus on essential oils used in sessions for the nervous system.

Reflexology Blog – The Nervous System is a Powerful Spiritual Communication Tool.

nervous system chartThe nervous system, made up of the brain and the spinal cord, gathers information, stores it, and controls what is done with it.
The brain controls our personality, judgment, speech, some movement, sound memory, temperature control and pain.
The peripheral nervous system connects the central nervous system to muscles, glands, and sensory receptors.
The autonomic nervous system controls muscles in the internal organs, intestines, sweat glands, airways, heart and blood vessels. It’s divided into 2 parts: the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems.
The sympathetic nervous system deals with energy, speeding up things like heartbeat. The parasympathetic nervous system slows thing down. The parasympathetic system has other functions as well. For example, once your food is chewed and swallowed, it moves through the body under the direction of the parasympathetic nervous system.
The central nervous system and brain serve all organs and functions of the body including actions like walking and talking.
Work the part of the spine corresponding to a body function or part that your client is having trouble with. For example, if a person comes to you with a neck problem, work the part of the spine that corresponds to the neck.
These nerves are found along the spinal reflexes because they’re housed within the vertebrae. So, while all these descriptions may seem complicated, all you need to do is work the spinal column which is inside the vertebrae.
Working the nervous system reflexes help the body overcome stress and increase blood flow. When this happens, the body functions in a more balanced way. This assists homeostasis.
Thanks for reading this post. Tomorrow’s post will focus on how to use the nervous system in a reflexology session. We’ll also discuss essential oils and foods that nourish the nervous system.

Reflexology Blog: Is It a Cold or the Flu?

We’ve all had this happen to us:  We wake up one morning with nasal congestion, sneezing, runny eyes, muscle aches, coughing, maybe even fever.

The first thought is this:  “Am I coming down with the flu or a common cold?

There are differences.

FEVER AND HEADACHE are  rare in colds.   Headaches, on the other hand, are common in flu as well as a high fever which can last 3 to 4 days.

ACHES AND PAINS are only slight or mild in colds.   Flu creates severe aches and pains.

FATIGUE:  Colds make people tired sometimes.  Flu, however, makes people tired for up to 2 to 3 weeks.

EXHAUSTION:  Colds are never exhausting.  Flu is usually extremely exhausting.

STUFFY NOSES, SNEEZING, and SORE THROATS are common in colds.  They’re fairly rare in flu.

The list you just read is somewhat complicated.  Especially if you just woke up and are trying to figure out which “side of the aisle” you belong on.  Would you like to ask yourself one question and make everything easy?

Well, here is the question:

“Do I feel so bad I can’t get out of bed”?  If the answer to that question is “yes”…

YOU PROBABLY HAVE THE FLU

“Do I feel so bad I can’t get out of bed”?  If the answer to that question is “no”…

YOU PROBABLY HAVE A COMMON COLD

So, now what do I need to do?

If you have a cold, stick with antihistamines, decongestants, and  nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories.

With the flu, you may want to see your doctor.

How could you have prevented this thing in the first place?  There are several things you can do to prevent a common cold and the flu – wash your hands often, stay away from those who are sick, and take your annual flu shot.

With a cold, you want to get rest so that you avoid the complications of a sinus congestion, a middle ear infection, and asthma.  Don’t forget to call your reflexologist and schedule an appointment.

With flu, you want to get rest so that you avoid the complications of bronchitis or pneumonia.

SYSTEMS TO WORK WHEN ADDRESSING THE COMMON COLD:

Work the immune system.  Then go to the pituitary gland reflexes, the sinus reflexes, the ear reflexes, the lung reflexes, and adrenal gland reflexes.  Finish the session by working the lymphatics.

Thanks for reading this post.  Hope you’ll find it’s helpful.

The Immune System Bottom Line: 4 Important Things to Remember

THE BOTTOM LINE

The immune system makes an important contribution to our wellness.  There are emotional and spiritual components to the immune system which cannot be ignored.

Some diseases offer challenges and struggles which insist that the ill person examine his/her lifestyle, core beliefs, and connection with the divine.

This whole path to wellness:  living with the disease or succumbing to it is facilitated with the homeostasis which Reflexology for the Spirit sessions bring about.

Work the immune system and the nervous system very early in the session.  The nervous system combined with the immune system becomes a booster system and they should always be used when you’re trying to resolve a health issue for someone.  These two systems combined facilitate homeostasis.  The two systems together can offer significant changes.

Thank you for reading this post and for reading this blog/book.  Please contact me if you have any questions.

The next post will focus on essential oils which benefit the immune system and will list the foods that nourish the immune system.  Following that, we will focus on some specific diseases such as the common cold, flu, bladder problems, etc.

Introducing the Immune System

We’re beginning a new section with this post.  For the next few posts, we’ll be discussing the different body systems.  The first system to be explored is the immune system.

The immune system is the group of organs and glands working together to protect you from colds, flu, infections, slow-healing wounds, as well as more serious diseases.

The major parts of the immune system include the lymphatics, thymus, tonsils, appendix and spleen.  The thymus is actually an endocrine gland but works with the immune system.

Think of the  lymphatics as the sewer system of the body.  If you are to stay healthy and not have colds, flu, infections, etc., it’s important to keep the lymphatic system clean and functioning properly.  The lymphatics are a system of vessels located throughout the body running parallel to the circulatory system.  They collect toxic waste that seeps out of the blood vessels, control the fluid levels in body tissue, and absorb fats from the digestive system.

They drain the toxins into the lymph nodes which are located throughout the body.  If you look at a map of the lymphatic system, you’ll see that there are more nodes located closer to the head and heart than lower down on the body.  This leads many professionals to believe that one of the jobs of the lymphatic system is to protect the brain.

The lymph glands don’t have a pump.  (The circulatory system has a pump:  the heart.)  As we move our bodies, we move the lymph.

In the next post, we’ll continue with the lymphatics as well as the other parts of the immune system.

As always, thanks for reading this blog/book.  Please contact me if you have any questions or comments.

A Canoe and an Angel – A Guided Meditation

Page0002 (2)This meditation is for you to use…to read to yourself, to use with your client partner at the beginning of a session…or whenever it feels like a good idea to have a guided meditation.

Make yourself comfortable.  Relax.  Imagine that you are lying in a beautiful canoe filled with cushions.  The small boat is just the right size for you.  There is no room for anyone or anything else in this canoe.  There is just room enough for you to just “be you”.  Nothing more.

You are lying in this canoe in the middle of a beautiful pond.  The water in the pond is still, clean, peaceful.  Let your body become heavy.  Sink into the cushions.  You are lying in your canoe in the middle of the pond.  Notice the space around you.  Experience the peace.  Feel the energy.

Look above you at the beautiful sky.  A few clouds are moving slowly and lazily across the sky.

A gentle breeze begins to move your canoe across the pond.  The breeze moves your canoe into a small opening of the pond which becomes a stream.  You float down the stream.

Beautiful trees and greenery line the banks of this gentle stream.  You feel safe.  This is a protected area.  As you float along your eye is drawn to the lovely clouds in the blue sky overhead.  You see and hear colorful birds in the trees along the banks of the stream.

Breathe in the peace and gentleness of the stream.  Enjoy just being.  Appreciate the energy of the scene.  You don’t have to do anything.  Simply breathe.  Enjoy.

Slowly the canoe comes to the shore along the stream.  You look around and enjoy the beautiful trees, the greenery, the flowers, the birds.  You are very, very relaxed and enjoy being in this special place.

You look over to the shore and see a bench.  You are called to climb out of the canoe and sit on this lovely bench in a protected area on the shore under some trees.  As you sit down on the bench you realize you are not alone.

Coming to sit beside you is a lovely angel.  You feel comfortable, and reach out to the angel who touches your hand.  You know this angel has come to sit by your side and be with you.  You know this angel has come to answer a question for you.

As you sit next to the angel, you notice how the angel looks.  What colors surround this angel.  Is this angel tall, short?  How is this angel dressed?  What is the overall feeling you get from your angel?  Does your angel give you a name?  If so, what is it?  If not, it’s okay.  No matter.

You pause a moment and ask your special angel a question.

PAUSE

After a moment, this angel answers your question and offers you wisdom, comfort, love.

Then, a breeze stirs and you gently rise from the bench.  It is time to say “Thank you” and “Good bye” to this special angel.

You slowly return to the canoe, thankful for having met your special angel.

As you get comfortable in the canoe, you feel an enfolding warmth which is very healing.  You feel as if you are part of the earth.  You feel strong, healthy.  You breathe in peace, strength, health, happiness.  You feel very quiet.

You take these feelings into your solar plexus to keep and remember for any future time that you might need them.

Now…return to your body.  Become aware of your surroundings.  Move your fingers, toes, arms, legs.  Slowly open your eyes.

Become fully awake.  Know that you have the memory of this time in the canoe with you to return to when you need it.

What is the Practical Application? – Part 2

As you begin the warm ups, what do you find?  How cold are the feet?  How easily do the ankles rotate?  Ankles are important.  They move us forward through life.

If you encounter stiff ankles, the person is not moving forward easily.  If the feet and ankles are swollen, the person is suffering through a stressful situation.

Begin the actual session at the toes.  Rotating the toes is important because this is where most of the stress is located.

When you observe hammertoes, work on them early in the session.

The solar plexus is very important.   Offering rotations to the solar plexus is the single most important thing you can do for your client partner.

Work the nervous system early in the session.  It’s a booster system and should always be used when you are trying to resolve a health issue.  The nervous system becomes important to you as you facilitate homeostasis.

Your next step is to work the immune system.  Working the immune system in conjunction with the nervous system can offer significant changes.

Follow this with attention to the digestive system including a focus on the intestinal tract.  Because good health begins in the intestinal tract, work the intestinal tract as often as you can in your sessions whether or not the person has voiced complaints.

Then, work the systems you feel need attention.  If you have time and don’t feel drawn to a particular system or foot area, go for the endocrine system.  This is the system that is, really, the most responsive to spiritual work.

With any time remaining, give attention to the areas of discoloration, puffiness, mushiness, cold, etc.

Offer warm downs for about 5 minutes to return the client to the present.  Most people receiving regular work from a Reflexology for the Spirit practitioner go into a deep state encouraging healing and homeostasis.  This most often happens when the person does not engage in any conversation during the session.

There are many reactions which a client can exhibit during and after sessions.  Don’t elaborate on them because a certain percentage of people will experience reactions simply because you talked about them.

Let them occur naturally…if they are going to happen.

Thank you for reading this post.  This ends the section of practical application tips.

Tomorrow’s post will offer a guided meditation to use for yourself or read to someone else.

Peace and food for all
