7 Ways the Brain is Enhanced in a Reflexology Session
The brain is the control center for the body. As with other organs of the body, very little is known about what the brain actually does. We know that it houses memories, tells the heart to beat, processes sight and hearing. Scientists are discovering exactly how the brain works.
The brain and the mind are different things. No one knows how the mind works.
When the brain reflex point is worked, several things happen:
The body’s sense of equilibrium begins to activate itself.
The neurological functions become energized.
Both physical and emotional reactions seek balance.
The physical and emotional activities are more controlled.
Organic functions are regulated.
Emotional stress is calmed.
Sleep activities are balanced.
Brain reflex points are located on the tips of the toes on both feet – especially the tips of the big toes.

8 Ways the Eye Reflexes are Enhanced in a Reflexology Session
The eyes expose the central nervous system to the external world. Most of the raw data making up our knowledge bank is processed through the eyes. It is said by many that the eyes are the mirror of the soul.
When the eyes are worked, several thing happen:
The seeing functions of the eyes begin to improve.
The body begins to fight vertigo and distortion.
Blood and lymph circulation are stimulated.
Tired and irritated eye tissues are refreshed.
Toxic wastes are removed.
Optic nerves receive better circulatory action.
Eye tissues are flushed.
Irritants are removed.
The eye reflexes are located on the ridge of the food located where the toes join the foot.

The pituitary gland enhances a reflexology session many ways as it controls the endocrine system.
The pituitary gland is located in almost the center of the brain. As manager of the endocrine system, it sends messages to the other glands. The pituitary gland also releases hormones which trigger physical and emotional actions.
When you work the pituitary gland reflex, several things happen:
The pituitary gland secretes hormones controlling, coordinating, and regulating the function of endocrine glands throughout the body.
The glands of the endocrine system include:
thyroid gland
parathyroid glands
pancreas
adrenal glands
ovaries/testes
The pituitary gland reflexes are found on both feet in the center of the pad of the big toe.

4 Ways the Gallbladder is Enhanced in a Reflexology Session
The gallbladder digests food and processes nutrients. It also stores bile from the liver. The gallbladder is a small pear-shaped organ which can be found in the body behind the liver. The gallbladder and the liver work together very closely.
When the gallbladder reflex points are worked, the following things happen.
The gallbladder releases bile in the intestines, which offers a mild laxative.
As Bile is released, food breaks down.
The gallbladder flushes itself out.
Bile storage is regulated.
The gallbladder point is found on the sole of the right foot. This point is beneath the 2 small toes about 1/4 of the way down the foot.

10 Ways the Liver Reflex Enhances a Reflexology Session
The liver is the largest organ inside the body. It’s a chemistry laboratory which helps keeps the body healthy. I don’t think anyone really knows exactly what the liver does. However, physiology and anatomy books tell us it does over five hundred different things.
Reducing liver activities to the lowest common denominator, the liver produces bile used to break up fat and absorb vitamins. The liver is a detoxing machine, filtering waste products.
The liver reproduces itself when necessary if it’s healthy enough.
The liver reflex point is on the right foot. It’s located on the sole of the right foot about one third of the way down between the toes and the heel. VerticaIly, it is below the line between the third and fourth toes.
When you reflex the liver, several things happen:
Working the liver reflex stimulates it to store and release copper, iron and vitamin B12.
Toxic wastes are filtered. This detoxing action is extremely important. Antibodies are produced as well.
Digestion is enhanced as bile is released. This breaks down food into usable nutrients.
Antibodies are produced which boost infection-fighting action if necessary.
Vitamin A is released to assist night vision.
Energy producing nutrients help fight fatigue.
Fresh bile manufactured regularly flushes out the gall bladder.
Fresh bile aids proper digestion which combats constipation.
Blood circulation heals damaged tissue.
Blood clotting is regulated.

8 Ways the Shoulder Reflexes Enhance a Reflexology Session
The shoulder is one body part always under stress. Almost everyone has problems with the shoulder/arm/elbow. The shoulder suffers with broken bones, bruises, torn ligaments, sprains, and dislocations.
Our shoulders carry much weight physically, emotionally, spiritually. They’re important in a reflexology session.
The shoulder reflex points are found on both feet. They are just below the smallest toe.
When you reflex the shoulder points, several things happen:
Blood circulation is increased.
Muscles are toned up.
Nerves around the muscles receive healing energy.
Muscles surrounding the shoulder, arm, elbow, and wrist relax.
The joints are stimulated.
Wastes are removed in a mild detox action.
Muscles relax, decreasing tension in the torso.
Strain is removed from neck muscles.

4 Ways the Spleen Enhances a Reflexology Session
The spleen is another of our body parts whose function is, for the most part, a mystery.
It’s divided into 2 parts:
the white pulp portion has immunological functions
the red pulp portion cleans and recycles red blood cells.
It is one organ which we can live without. When the spleen is damaged and subsequently removed, its functions seem to be duplicated in the liver, bone marrow, and lymph glands.
When you address the spleen points, the following things happen:
Hemoglobin, from damaged or dead red blood cells, is recycled.
Antibodies are released to fight infection.
Uric acid production is regulated.
Lymph is filtered.
The spleen reflex point is found on the left foot only. It is located about halfway down the sole between the toes and the heel and under the fourth and little toes. The liver reflex point is found in the same place on the right foot.

4 Ways the Solar Plexus Enhances a Reflexology Session
The solar plexus is a nerve hub located in the muscles and nerves which divide the chest cavity and the abdominal cavity. The solar plexus is in the area of the third chakra in the body. We often refer to the third chakra as the adrenal glands. The solar plexus is between the adrenals. This is where we feel “butterflies.”
Information traveling between the brain, the nerves and the organs travels through the solar plexus.
I’ve written repeatedly in this blog/book that the solar plexus should be worked in all reflexology session. This is because the solar plexus is critical to the processing of stress and relaxation.
When you reflex the solar plexus point, several things happen:
The solar plexus tells the nerves to relax. This helps lungs regulate breathing patterns. As this happens, the body relaxes and is able to overcome panic reactions and anxiety. Breathing functions are balanced and enhanced, offering support to the respiratory system.
When you reflex the solar plexus point, you encourage the abdominal muscles to relax. The body is then able to destress.
Rotations to the solar plexus point activate the abdominal organs so they can work better.
Solar plexus point rotations soothe and relax the entire body. This offers grounding and calm.

Reflexology Blog – Spiritual/Emotional System
THIS SYSTEM IS COMPOSED OF THE MIND, HEART, EYES, SOUL, CHAKRAS, AND ENERGETIC LAYERS SURROUNDING THE PHYSICAL BODY, AND THE ENTIRE ENDOCRINE SYSTEM
As the journey goes, recognizing one’s spirituality varies from person to person. The differences aren’t important. What’s important is we understand the value of our spiritual well being relative to the overall health of the whole body.
Try to understand and respect the spiritual differences in each client partner. Spiritually, everyone is different with no wrongs or rights. Make every effort to support the client’s spiritual beliefs to help the client achieve good spiritual health.
THE QUESTION ARISES: WHAT IS THAT?
We can’t address the question without understanding the cultural, religious, and ethnic differences in our client partners. These should always be respected and acknowledged when appropriate.
With a client partner from a different culture, please try to learn more about cultural behaviors and communication styles within that culture.
GOOD SPIRITUAL HEALTH INCLUDES A CONNECTEDNESS WITH ONE’S INNER SELF AND WITH OTHERS. It can include a life with meaning and purpose. It can include faith, hope, peacefulness, love, forgiveness, and worship.
For many, the most elusive word is forgiveness. Many health care providers offer forgiveness prayers for their clients. Some healers feel healing is impossible without forgiveness. Your job is to assist your client partner to achieve and maintain spiritual balance and health.
Reflexing the nervous system can be a very spiritual experience for your client partner. For many, it facilitates a communication flow between the brain and the divine.
RECOGNIZE WHEN A CLIENT IS WORKING THROUGH LOSS AND GRIEF. Your sessions can assist and support the client in this journey.
The endocrine system is the foundation of the Spiritual/Emotional System. This is the primary system that Reflexology for the Spirit addresses.
The Endocrine system and the chakras are very closely aligned and influence one another.
Balanced chakras are a necessary component of good spiritual and emotional health. That’s what Reiki therapy does best. Have you learned Reiki therapy yet? It’s easy to learn. It’s fast, incorporated easily into a Reflexology for the Spirit session and brings homeostasis. As your client reaches and maintains homeostasis, the spirit becomes healthy, too. Once the chakras are balanced and the spirit begins to achieve good health it will become the driving force in the journey to homeostasis. You can assist your client partner on this journey without Reiki therapy but it’s easier with it.
The question arises: What is Reiki therapy? At its lowest common denominator, Reiki therapy is the laying on of hands. The practitioner calls in the Reiki energy (universal life force) and offers a light touch to a clothed body as healing is offered.

Reflexology Blog – Ulcers
ULCERS ARE PHYSICAL CONDITIONS WITH STRONG SPIRITUAL INFLUENCE. Ulcers can develop on the walls of the stomach, on the upper part of the small intestine. Wherever they develop, they can be quite painful.
IT’S IMPOSSIBLE TO DISCUSS DIGESTIVE ULCERS WITHOUT DISCUSSING DIET. People suffering with ulcers should avoid black pepper, chili powder, chocolate, coffee, meat extracts, mustard, and spicy foods for starters.
Ulcers require the attention of a medical professional. some lifestyle changes, and the realization that the spirit is talking loud and clear.
Lifestyle changes include:
Eat food in moderation. A stretched stomach with an ulcer can be quite painful.
Choose to eat apples, cranberry juice, onions.
Avoid coffee and alcohol
Quit smoking. If you haven’t been smoking, now is not the time to begin this habit.
Avoid aspirin and other NSAIDs.
Wash your hands after every bowel movement.
REDUCE THE STRESS IN YOUR LIFE. People dealing with ulcers are usually very stressed. They may be under too much pressure and are possibly worried by financial, work, relationship, guilt, or shame problems. The goal here is to get to the point where it’s not necessary to worry so much. People dealing with these situations feel a need to be soothed, nurtured somehow.
And, this is where reflexology for the spirit enters the picture offering not only soothing relaxation but homeostasis.
When offering reflexology for the spirit to an ulcer sufferer, begin the sessions by working the solar plexus and diaphragm.
Work the digestive system with emphasis on the stomach and duodenal reflexes.
Work the endocrine system with emphasis on the adrenal gland reflexes.
Work the intestinal reflexes focusing on the entire Intestinal tract.
Finish the session by working the liver and solar plexus.
