Reflexology For The Spirit

Getting to the Heart of the Matter.

Seriously, are you getting enough rest?  Sometimes, getting to the heart of the matter needs rest.

Frankly, I don’t know anybody who will admit to getting enough rest.  Actually, that’s okay.  At least, they aren’t lying.

The thing is…when we rest, we recuperate, recover, and heal.  Right now, we’re coming off of a three-year stress-a-thon.  For some of us, this was a nightmare that didn’t end.

A story in the local newspaper tells me that Biden is about to declare the end of the Pandemic.  HURRAH!  That’s wonderful.  But what about the fallout?

Millions died of Covid-19.

School closings, masks, and vaccines upended and disturbed our children’s education, possibly permanently.

Careers and employment situations changed.  Work will never be the same again.  For some of us, employment was then, and is now, a horror and nightmare we may never recuperate from.

We watched a black man die as an officer kept a knee on his neck for nine minutes while he cried out he could not breathe.

Social isolation changed our culture, maybe long term or forever. Some of us are unable to leave their homes yet.  Others of us experienced loneliness, distance, and abandonment.

For many, this pandemic brought heartbreak, pain, sorrow, and loss.  Truths we held strong were changed or lost.  Our emotions are raw and we need healing.

The pandemic turned our emotional world upside down and inside out.

During this time, political division drove apart families, religious communities, and committees.

School shootings and mass shootings occurred seemingly every week.  They continue.

Finally, we watched tanks and planes attacking Ukraine.

Has the time come for you to rest up and recuperate after the past few years?

Are you ready?  Frankly, several people I know aren’t.  They are not yet prepared to leave the safe space they created during the ordeal.

Your soul will tell you whether you are ready, not ready, or whether you are somewhere else in between.

If you are not yet ready to move forward, you have received a sign that you still need to recuperate and contemplate.  A message for you may be to examine your options further.  Meditating on your situation a bit longer may be a good path for you right now.

Now is not a good time for you to rush to a decision.

Now is a good time to schedule some regular reflexology and Reiki sessions.  When you make your appointments for these sessions, think clearly about your intentions.

You may want to select a special intention for each session.  Or, you may want to set one intention for all the sessions.  Either way, use these sessions as a platform to quiet your mind and give yourself permission to explore your possibilities.

Ultimately, you will explore peace and healing.

You may also want to choose a day in which you do nothing at all.  Sit around.  Catch up on your sleep.  Drink some calming tea or water. This can be a day of spiritual convalescence.

.Do you feel that the storm is over and the air is clear for you?  Do you feel your wounds are beginning to heal?

This is a good time to assess the damage and move on.

Do you feel you are not ready to move on.  Was the experience too painful?  Are you afraid that moving on will hurt even more?

Take some deep, cleansing breaths and send yourself love – as much love as possible.

If if seems comfortable for you, visualize yourself back in action.  See your life getting busy again.  You’ll know you are ready to move forward when You’re ready to get back into the world.

Self-Care: Choose You

Are you fried?

Have you nothing left to give?

Does your energetic body (which usually feels wondrous and fluffy), feel dried and flat like crushed cotton candy?

It doesn’t have to be that way.

There’s more in your soul – you just can’t find it right now because you’re running on empty.

It’s time to choose YOU – your whole you.  Honor your entire body – physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, energetic.

Your balanced whole body is ready for you to claim it.  It’s waiting.  Everything is connected.  Nothing operates independently.  Authentic balance comes from within and is different for everyone.

Your entire body has a shaggy footprint which includes everything – physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and energetic.

This includes your memories also.  Include your muscle   memories, your mental memories, your past-life memories, your emotional memories – everything.

When you discuss caring for your body, include diet, exercise, sleep.  Include choices, thought patterns, stress management, drugs.

Include meditation on your balance journey.  Focus on experiencing your self – your whole, entire self, which wants you to get to know it better.

Read this meditation as often as you want.  Allow your self to enjoy it.

Find a quiet, safe, and comfortable place to sit where you won’t be interrupted for a few minutes or so.  Allow your body to be supported by the chair, bed, or floor you have chosen.

Drink a glass of water.

Quiet your mind and check in with your self.

When thoughts enter your mind, encourage them to comfortably come and go.

Notice how you breathe for the moment.  Are your breaths shallow or deep?  It doesn’t matter, really.  Just notice your breath. – Notice how each each breath  brings in a pure white light.

This white light is perfect and healing.  It will stay with you.  It’s job is to heal and nurture.

This white light knows where the need is greatest.  It knows where to go.

As you breathe in, feel the healing energy riding on each breath.  Feel this energy spreading out from your lungs to every artery and vein in your body.  This white light  is healing and regenerating every cell in your entire body.

Now, take a deep breath.  Inhale and feel yourself relaxing.  Notice whether you are becoming  quiet.  Are you becoming still?

Where is your body tight?

What’s happening with your energy level?  Continue breathing in and out.  Allow your self to become relaxed, still.

Now, move your hands along your body, beginning at the crown of your your head.  Hold your hands several inches above your body.  What do you feel as you move your hands along your body?  Heat.  Cool. Quickly moving energy.  Slowly moving energy.  Stuck energy.

Is something stressing you?  What does this smell like?  How does it feel?  Do you hear stress?  Where does this stress feel comfortable?

How do your senses react to your stress.  What do you feel as you move your hands along your body?

(You can repeat this meditation many times as your hands become  comfortable with what they find.)

When you notice a stressed or stuck area of energy, communicate with this particular place using nurturing feelings, and thoughts.

Speak directly with this stressed place.  Tell this place that you love it, that you want it to be perfect.

Breathe in an extra breath of white light and focus it directly on the stressed place.

This process of sending white light to stress points and communicating with specific points using nurturing feelings and thoughts changes much. When you do this, you encourage your total self to release blockages, erace mistakes, and create perfect images.

See your self in perfection.  Your breaths, sending white light to your whole body, release feelings of health, alertness, and relaxation.

Etch this feeling in your mind now  so you can return to this feeling whenever  you want.

It is time to return to your room now.  Gently bring your awareness back to your day.  Remember that you can return to this place any time you want.

Thank you for including this journey in your day.

Boost Your Energy With an Autumn Detox!

I love autumn and I love to celebrate the season with a detox.

When September rolls around, I know a detox will put sparkle in my eyes, and  boost my energy.

One reason I like an autumn detox is because I’m a reflexologist and I know that one of the things a reflexology session does best is encourage a mild detox.

So, I begin my autumn detox with three days of reflexology sessions right in a row.

My next step is to eliminate.  After all, that’s what a detox is all about.  My autumn detox is a little different from any other detox, though.  I’m not looking to eliminate everything – just the foods and drinks that weigh me down and make me feel sluggish.  That means I’m going to ditch the junk and processed foods.

Because of the foods I eliminate, this detox is different from all the other detoxes that I do.  Junk food and carbs top the list.

This season’s detox focuses on eating fruits for one day.  Use them to rebalance your system.  Because fruits always make me feel so good and energetic, I’ll probably stretch the one day out to two or three.

Each year, when I schedule my detox, I always schedule a few days of elimination when I cut out the junk foods, carbs, processed foods and the caffeine.  (If you smoke, this is a good time to offload the nicotine.)

It’s never more than a couple days before I notice that my body is energized.

While I’m getting rid of the toxins and replacing them with good nutrients, I feel lighter, cleaner, and more energetic.

That’s when I take time to walk, schedule a yoga session, or go for a swim.  The idea is to participate in activities which relax and rejuvenate your body.

An autumn detox is not  new in my life.  I remember autumn detox events dating back to my childhood in the South.

As the days grew cooler, a neighborhood mother prepared her special concoction and gave everyone a giant spoon full.  To this very day, I have no idea what was in it.

This I do know:  It tasted terrible!  And, our bodies smelled terrible for several days afterward.  If I ever smell that aroma again, I’m going to ask whoever is walking around with it to talk to me.  I want to know everything!

Another neighborhood mother put herbs in asperfidity bags which she personally prepared for us.  We wore them around our necks like necklaces.  The only thing I remember was garlic.  After that, my memory grows hazy.

Well, now is the 21st century and I prefer my autumn detox.  It’s practical and easy.  There are no smelly asperfidity bags to wear through the winter.

The power you will achieve by getting junk foods out of your life and your body encourages good things for you.

Several days worth of reflexology sessions bring bliss!

Adding exercises like walking, tai chi, or yoga are ideal for autumn rejuvenation and relaxation.

Complicated changes are not always necessary to promote wholistic health improvement and a longer life.

I hope you’re planning to join me and take the autumn equinox detox challenge!

10 Steps to Inner Fitness and a Life That Unsticks Itself.

We’ve all got a lot on our plates these days.  All of us.

We’re at a point where it’s time to return to normal.

The question is this:  What is normal anyway?

Certainly it’s not what we had before.  It’s time to make way for a better life..

Whether we’re interested or not, our spiritual centers need encouragement, support, and protection.  Inner fitness smoothes out the bumps in our travels through life.

I don’t know if I speak for everyone, or even anyone, but I find myself embracing this new normal while experiencing grief.

With a grounded inner core,  a new normal is easier to find and recognize.  Essential requirements for inner fitness include encouragement, support, safety, and self-confidence.

There are things you can do:

Think Positively.

Positive thoughts are essential – even before you get out of bed.  When you wake, ask yourself “How can I be happy today?”

Happiness is the great equalizer.  You are never too young or too old for happiness.  Happiness doesn’t need education.  Happiness doesn’t need good health.  Happiness is the only thing I know that is available to everyone.

All happiness needs is for you to “be happy.”

Listen to Your Body.

When you listen, your body will talk to you.  It will never lie to you as healing  begins.  Inner fitness is real.

Are you trying to adjust to your new reality?  Do you want to change your life?  Is something wrong, and are you trying to find out what?

Tune in to your body several times a day.  Do you have pain anywhere?  Is your spine aligned?  What is your energy level?  Are you hungry?  Thirsty?  Tired?  Joyful?

Good Health is a Priority.

When you value your good health, you become a valuable person.  You love yourself.  When you expect excellent health, your thinking changes.  Life unsticks itself.

Claim your wellness!

Respect Your Emotional Self

Your feelings are opportunities to grow.  Emotions are messages from your body which will help set you free.  Your emotions can help you understand pain, extra weight, sorrow, fear.

When you remove these feelings, you make way for joyful health, peace, grounding.

A better life emerges.

Connect with Your Community.

Get a part time job.

Or a full time job.

Read a newspaper.

Use your library.

Volunteer at a food pantry.

Join your local church or synagogue.

Teach someone to read.

Include Exercise Every Day

In 1513, Ponce de Leon discovered the Fountain of Youth in what is now St. Augustine, Florida.  The Fountain of Youth still exists and keeps people everywhere healthy.  There is at least one branch of it in your neighborhood, located on a sidewalk or roadside where you can walk every day.

If that’s not convenient for you, another nearby branch is in your local fitness center.  You’ll be healthier when you visit it regularly.

Take a Grounding Break

Try meditation, walking your dog, giving your cat a massage, or staring out the window into nothingness.

The activity isn’t so important.  What’s important is that, when you complete this small task, you’ll have given yourself a refreshing, grounding break.

You’ll continue with your day feeling more positive, relaxed.  Your fresh new take on the day will ripple out to those around you.

Review Your Situation

Now might be a good time to write about important moments in your life.  You don’t  have to focus on what happened in your life.  Focus, instead, on what you did about what happened to you.

Write short stories, essays, poems, or keep a journal.

Whatever you choose, if you need help, you may find it at your library.

Reflexology and Reiki

Do not overlook a weekly session.  Both these modalities bring homeostasis which is crucial these days.  Both these modalities are adaptable to many different situations.

Do you practice Reiki?  No?  Find a teacher.  If you do…have you thought about a Reiki circle for your area?

We all need more Reiki.  We all need more reflexology.

When I think about Reiki and reflexology, my heart sings!
