{"id":592,"date":"2014-05-12T07:47:05","date_gmt":"2014-05-12T12:47:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/reflexologyforthespirit.com\/blog\/?p=592"},"modified":"2014-05-12T07:47:05","modified_gmt":"2014-05-12T12:47:05","slug":"in-the-kitchen-what-are-some-of-the-best-healthiest-foods-to-have-on-hand","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/reflexologyforthespirit.com\/blog\/2014\/05\/12\/in-the-kitchen-what-are-some-of-the-best-healthiest-foods-to-have-on-hand\/","title":{"rendered":"In the Kitchen &#8211; What are Some of the Best, Healthiest Foods to Have on Hand?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hippocrates is believed to have said that our food should be our medicine and our medicine should be our food.<\/p>\n<p>As we work to stay healthy and live long lives, this statement cannot be overdone.<\/p>\n<p>What are some of the best foods we can eat as we work to stay healthy? \u00a0An important component in this statement is that we tend to eat what we keep in our kitchens. \u00a0So the question isn&#8217;t what are some of the best foods to eat but, rather, what are some of the best foods to keep in our kitchen?<\/p>\n<p>Begin with leafy greens: \u00a0spinach, kale, watercress, and arugula. \u00a0These leafy jewels help clear our arteries of cholesterol, reduce blood pressure, and lower our risks of cancer.<\/p>\n<p>Cancer fighting greens include broccoli, kale, cabbage, Brussel sprouts.<\/p>\n<p>If we&#8217;re concerned about heart disease, some forms of cancer, and immune system power, onions and garlic top the list.<\/p>\n<p>Big cholesterol fighters include nuts.<\/p>\n<p>Yogurt is important for its probiotics, \u00a0important for digestion. \u00a0For vegetarians, yogurt is a good source of protein as well. \u00a0It&#8217;s also a fermented product which we don&#8217;t get enough of.<\/p>\n<p>Yellow and orange foods strengthen our blood vessels, cartilage, tendons, and ligaments. \u00a0They also \u00a0help prevent allergies, inflammation, and strengthen veins and arteries. \u00a0Yellow and orange foods include oranges, tangerines, lemons, limes, gratefruit, papaya, pineapple, and nectarines.<\/p>\n<p>White and green foods are anti-inflammatory, anti cancer, fight allergies and asthma. \u00a0Again, think onions and garlic.<\/p>\n<p>Green tea has powerful anti cancer properties. \u00a0Green tea is believed to be more powerful than Vitamins C and E.<\/p>\n<p>An important concept to remember is that your body is made up of whatever you put in your mouth.<\/p>\n<p>When asked if we eat a healthy diet, the most popular \u00a0response is usually \u00a0&#8220;Yes.&#8221; \u00a0But, for three days, step back from your diet and look at each food you cook with, serve, and eat as if you had never seen it before. \u00a0Read the labels. \u00a0Ask yourself objectively: \u00a0is this food really good for me? \u00a0If the answer is &#8220;no&#8221; or &#8220;I&#8217;m not sure&#8221;, do some research. \u00a0Eliminate from your diet those foods \u00a0which are not good for you.<\/p>\n<p>The goal is to not get caught in the trap of eating products manufactured to be eaten which are, in fact, not food. \u00a0The goal is to eat the food.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you for reading this blog\/book<\/p>\n<p>Please share this article with your preferred social network.<\/p>\n<p>Please send a comment.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks.<\/p>\n<p>Thurman Greco<\/p>\n<p>This is the only post for most of this week. \u00a0Thank you for reading this blog\/book. \u00a0Thank you for your support. &#8211; TG<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hippocrates is believed to have said that our food should be our medicine and our medicine should be our food.
