{"id":3217,"date":"2020-04-04T19:33:31","date_gmt":"2020-04-04T19:33:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/reflexologyforthespirit.com\/blog\/?p=3217"},"modified":"2020-04-04T19:33:31","modified_gmt":"2020-04-04T19:33:31","slug":"a-crisis-toolkit-for-your-mind-body-and-spirit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/reflexologyforthespirit.com\/blog\/2020\/04\/04\/a-crisis-toolkit-for-your-mind-body-and-spirit\/","title":{"rendered":"A Crisis Toolkit for Your Mind, Body, and Spirit."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/reflexologyforthespirit.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Page00091.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-641\" src=\"http:\/\/reflexologyforthespirit.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Page00091-300x226.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"226\" srcset=\"https:\/\/reflexologyforthespirit.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Page00091-300x226.jpg 300w, https:\/\/reflexologyforthespirit.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Page00091-1024x770.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>For years and years, I&#8217;ve carried around a crisis toolkit to use whenever a friend, family member, client, coworker, or complete stranger entered my life in a crisis situation.\u00a0 Do you have a healing tool kit?<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m betting\u00a0 you do.\u00a0 After all, we&#8217;re all healers. \u00a0\u00a0 We all carry one around, even if we don&#8217;t call it that.\u00a0 So my question is this:\u00a0 What&#8217;s in it?<\/p>\n<p>My toolkit has things to help with\u00a0 fear as well as death and with the dreaded coronavirus.\u00a0 But it also has to help with all the other diseases and aches and pains\u00a0 we encounter in addition:\u00a0 colds, fever, rashes, asthma attacks, arthritis, heart attacks, cancer&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Maybe you\u00a0 feel your toolkit is not ready for today&#8217;s situation. It&#8217;s probably filled with all sorts of things you can use.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some things I&#8217;m sharing with you.\u00a0 Maybe you have things in your toolkit you can share with me.<\/p>\n<p>When it comes to supporting your mind, body, and spirit during these challenging times, I TURN FIRST TO YOGA.\u00a0 I recommend restorative yoga.<\/p>\n<p>When you are stressed, a weekly session is important.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t know how it is in your area, but I&#8217;m in Upstate New York which is a new hot spot for Coronavirus.\u00a0 I take a restorative yoga class via Zoom every week with Carolyn Abedor.<\/p>\n<p>Carolyn is a physical therapist\/yoga instructor.\u00a0 I come away from her class restored, renewed, and recharged for the coming\u00a0 week.\u00a0 I would take her class twice a week but I work on the other day she teaches it.<\/p>\n<p>Do you have a yoga teacher?\u00a0 If not, make finding one a priority.\u00a0 Today&#8217;s challenges call for restorative yoga.\u00a0 But, if you find a different yoga that you prefer&#8230;go for it.\u00a0 Use what works for you.<\/p>\n<p>REIKI CANNOT BE OVERESTIMATED. \u00a0 Do you practice Reiki therapy?\u00a0 If so, don&#8217;t forget to use this tool every chance you get.<\/p>\n<p>Use your Reiki when you walk into a building.\u00a0 Use it when you walk down the street.\u00a0 Use Reiki when you encounter other people.\u00a0 Everyone is stressed out.\u00a0 We can all use Reiki&#8217;s healing, calming energy.<\/p>\n<p>If not, now is the best time I know of\u00a0 to learn Reiki.\u00a0 Reiki is essential in stressful times.\u00a0 And, frankly, no time can be more stressful than now.<\/p>\n<p>If you don&#8217;t practice Reiki and you can&#8217;t find a teacher, book some sessions with a practitioner.\u00a0 Begin with 5 sessions.<\/p>\n<p>Whether or not you practice Reiki,\u00a0 or visit a Reiki practitioner regularly, now is a good time to organize a Reiki circle or\u00a0 Reiki share.\u00a0 Gather several\u00a0 friends together and let the Reiki practitioners offer healing to everyone in the room.\u00a0 Reiki is not one bit intimidated by the requirements of social distancing.<\/p>\n<p>DON&#8217;T FORGET\u00a0 REFLEXOLOGY. \u00a0 Reflexology sessions are extremely grounding.\u00a0 If you are stressed out or if you have health issues, Reflexology sessions\u00a0 can help.\u00a0 Gloves and face masks will not negatively impose on Reflexology.<\/p>\n<p>HEALING MUSIC HAS BEEN AN IMPORTANT PART IN MY TOOL BOX FOR YEARS.\u00a0 I use it during healing sessions, classes, or whenever I feel the need.<\/p>\n<p>Through the years, I&#8217;ve learned that healing music can be all sorts of sounds.\u00a0 Beauty is in the ears of the beholder.\u00a0 I tend to favor Deuter,\u00a0 Halpern, Ken Davis, Anugama.\u00a0 Your favorites may be totally different.\u00a0 Because of my experiences, I prefer the older musicians.\u00a0 But, there are many kinds of healing music available today.\u00a0 Explore them until you know what works best for you.<\/p>\n<p>GUIDED MEDITATIONS are essential.\u00a0 I began reading those written by others and now create my own.\u00a0 I suggest that you go with someone else&#8217;s until the time is right for you.\u00a0 The goal of a guided meditation is to awaken, transform, or heal.\u00a0 For years, I relied on the meditations compiled in books by Larry Moen.<\/p>\n<p>BEDSIDE TABLE BOOKS are essential.\u00a0 They are the books I read when my tanks need refilling.\u00a0 These books vary with the need.\u00a0 Sometimes escape is the only route.\u00a0 Other times, I need to know what other people have to say about the situation I&#8217;m dealing with.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m often hungry for the wisdom others offer.\u00a0 To prevent empty tanks, I try to read about an hour a day.<\/p>\n<p>When I\u00a0 fed hungry and homeless people in a food pantry, I found solace in the statistics of hunger.\u00a0 At any given moment I could tell you what percentage of children in our country went to bed hungry.\u00a0 I knew the difference between resource poor and generational poor and struggling poor.\u00a0 I knew all about dumpster diving.<\/p>\n<p>Now, I&#8217;m attracted to\u00a0 memoirs.\u00a0 It&#8217;s not the problems that attract me.\u00a0 It&#8217;s how the writer tackled the problem that counts.<\/p>\n<p>Fear, and forgiveness are big on my list.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, when I need to veg out,\u00a0 I go for whatever catalogue is in my mailbox.<\/p>\n<p>The important thing is to know when\u00a0 to fill your own tanks.\u00a0 Your toolbox won&#8217;t be worth much if you&#8217;re stretched too thin.<\/p>\n<p>Your toolkit may be totally different.\u00a0 It probably is different.\u00a0 After all, we are
