If a man lives long enough, he&#8217;ll either die with prostate cancer or because of it.\u00a0 So, prostate cancer is in the future for many men.\u00a0 Prostate cancer is a lifestyle disease, not a genetic one.<\/p>\n<p>So, what can you do?\u00a0 Vitamins are important prevention habits &#8211; especially selenium.\u00a0 Seafood instead of beef is a good choice.\u00a0 Fruits and vegetables are important.\u00a0 To summarize this, a good diet is necessary for longevity wellness.<\/p>\n<p>NEVER WORK BEFORE BREAKFAST &#8211;\u00a0 A good breakfast, eaten every morning can reduce the risk of heart disease, diabetes, cancer and obesity.\u00a0 If you&#8217;re\u00a0 interested in wellness, breakfast is on the menu &#8211; every day.\u00a0 First thing.<\/p>\n<p>This is your chance to load up on high-fiber grains, antioxidant-laden fruits,\u00a0 and whole grain cereals.<\/p>\n<p>A favored breakfast is the world-famous Muesli breakfast.\u00a0 This will stay with you for hours until it is time for lunch.\u00a0 And, it&#8217;s yummy, too!<\/p>\n<p>BREAST CANCER &#8211;\u00a0 This is a challenge for many women.\u00a0 Breast cancer has a definite spiritual component.<\/p>\n<p>Reduced to its lowest common denominator, this means\u00a0 you should do everything possible to keep from running on empty.\u00a0 I wrote more about this in my book &#8220;A Healer&#8217;s Handbook&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>A good thing to do is go with early diagnosis and every medical treatment offered whether allopathic, complimentary, or integrative.\u00a0 Fight breast cancer with every tool offered to you.<\/p>\n<p>Early diagnosis means getting mammograms and breast exams regularly.\u00a0 No cancelling.\u00a0 Early detection and treatment is important to your continued wellness.<\/p>\n<p>Keep up with research on cancer preventing diets and exercise.\u00a0 This means, at the very least, eating lots of fruits and vegetables and exercising regularly.<\/p>\n<p>STRONG LEGS are your best insurance policy for a long, active life.\u00a0 Two of the best exercises are pedaling the stationary bike and using the leg press machine.<\/p>\n<p>Climb stairs for five minutes every daily.<\/p>\n<p>Balance yourself on one leg daily:\u00a0 Stand on one leg for fifteen seconds, then alternate legs.<\/p>\n<p>And, finally,\u00a0 stand up and sit down twenty times in succession.<\/p>\n<p>LOAD UP\u00a0 &#8211; on vegetables, fruits, legumes, and grains every day.\u00a0 Go for as much variety in texture,\u00a0 and color, possible.\u00a0 \u00a0Avoid processed foods as much as possible.<\/p>\n<p>Try not to eat any foods loaded with chemicals and artificial anything.\u00a0 Chemical laden foods are not good for wellness.<\/p>\n<p>TAKE THE RISK &#8211; Eat cold water fish one to three times a month.\u00a0 This means you should eat about one serving of salmon, trout, herring,\u00a0 or sardines per week.\u00a0 Unfortunately, the accumulated heavy metals make eating the fish more often\u00a0 a health risk.\u00a0 However, on the plus side, eating the cold water fish once a week can offer real\u00a0 wellness health benefits.<\/p>\n<p>Avoid farmed fish if you can.\u00a0 No doubt some\u00a0 farms are clean but many are not and you have no way of knowing without visiting.<\/p>\n<p>AVOID ALZHEIMER&#8217;S &#8211; Alzheimer&#8217;s is one disease which we all want to avoid at all costs.\u00a0 There are some things you\u00a0 can do to prevent the onset of this disease.<\/p>\n<p>Reduce your intake of saturated fats.<\/p>\n<p>Make physical\u00a0 activity a part of every day.<\/p>\n<p>Spinach and other dark leaf vegetables are said to help prevent the onset of the disease.<\/p>\n<p>Antioxidant rich foods are important.<\/p>\n<p>Turmeric is an important spice to add to your arsenal.<\/p>\n<p>Maintain an active social life .<\/p>\n<p>Learn new things .<\/p>\n<p>WATCH YOUR BACK &#8211;\u00a0 Statistics tell us\u00a0 that most of us will experience back pain at some point in life.\u00a0 This can be a problem for you if you&#8217;re not focused on your wellness.<\/p>\n<p>Back pain has a spiritual component which you can&#8217;t ignore.\u00a0 \u00a0Stress is often involved in back pain.\u00a0 I wrote about this in &#8220;A Healer&#8217;s Handbook&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Back pain impacts on your wellness and longevity expectations when it brings on depression,\u00a0 immobility, and\u00a0 disability.<\/p>\n<p>One thing you can do is work to maintain strong core muscles.\u00a0 Strong muscles in the stomach and back will go a long way to a better recovery if you do experience back injury and pain.<\/p>\n<p>Posture is important.\u00a0 Take yoga classes with a teacher\u00a0 interested in your posture.<\/p>\n<p>Maintain a good weight.\u00a0 Obesity is a strain on your back which you don&#8217;t need.<\/p>\n<p>Drink plenty of water to maintain joint hydration.\u00a0 This may seem like a silly suggestion but your joints\u00a0 use a lot of water and need you to continually\u00a0 replenish it throughout\u00a0the\u00a0 day &#8211;
