that we need to take care of ourselves to function optimally in our lives.\u00a0 For many, self care is being selfish.\u00a0 This is simply not so.\u00a0 Eating properly, resting, getting proper exercise, smelling the flowers&#8230;these things are not selfish.<\/p>\n<p>Lower back pain?\u00a0 Try not to overdo the bed rest.\u00a0 One or two days seem to be the best amount of time. to be off your feet.\u00a0 Lower back pain is a spiritual situation.\u00a0 \u00a0Try to get up and about asap.\u00a0 Self care is needed when your lower back hurts.<\/p>\n<p>Are your cholesterol numbers less than ideal?\u00a0 Try to exercise regularly.\u00a0 Can you lose weight?\u00a0 That will help, too.\u00a0 Eating fish helps.\u00a0 And, finally, omega-3 fatty acids really help.<\/p>\n<p>Get your annual flu shot.\u00a0 \u00a0 Every year, I encounter people who come down with the flu.\u00a0 Most of the time, these people neglected to get their shot.\u00a0 And, getting a flu shot does not immunize a person for life.\u00a0 A flu shot must be repeated annually.\u00a0 This can be a bore.\u00a0 However, I&#8217;ve gotten a flu shot annually for the last 20 years or so and,\u00a0 somehow, don&#8217;t seem to get the flu.<\/p>\n<p>Worried about toenail fungus?\u00a0 Keep your feet clean and dry.\u00a0 Wear well fitting shoes and socks.\u00a0 Snug, poorly ventilated shoes and damp, sweaty socks are a breeding ground for athlete&#8217;s foot.\u00a0 Go barefoot if you can.\u00a0 If you do have toenail or foot fungus, and if it is painful, it&#8217;s time to see a dermatologist.<\/p>\n<p>To keep your teeth and gums clean and healthy, brush your teeth often.\u00a0 Brush your teeth after you eat with a soft bristled brush.\u00a0 Tooth brushing is essential for good self care.<\/p>\n<p>Do you have hay fever?\u00a0 Cut back on alcoholic beverages during pollen season.<\/p>\n<p>Do you chew gum?\u00a0 Chew sugarless gum to fight tooth decay.<\/p>\n<p>Concerned about carpel tunnel syndrome?\u00a0 Keep your wrists straight when working with your hands.\u00a0 When you work on a keyboard, make sure your fingers are lower than your wrists.\u00a0 Carpel tunnel doesn&#8217;t always require surgery.\u00a0 A good body worker or physical therapist can often help you.<\/p>\n<p>Buy your shoes in the afternoon when you&#8217;ve been on your feet for a few hours, and always have your feet measured.\u00a0 Know which foot is larger and fit your shoes to that foot.\u00a0 That way, you&#8217;ll have a more accurate shoe size and fit.<\/p>\n<p>Pinkeye and other eye infections can be extremely infectious.\u00a0 Use care.<\/p>\n<p>Always first on your list for self care is regular reflexology.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you for reading this article.<\/p>\n<p>Please refer this
