{"id":2601,"date":"2017-06-23T19:34:30","date_gmt":"2017-06-23T19:34:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/reflexologyforthespirit.com\/blog\/?p=2601"},"modified":"2017-06-23T19:34:30","modified_gmt":"2017-06-23T19:34:30","slug":"trouble-sleeping","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/reflexologyforthespirit.com\/blog\/2017\/06\/23\/trouble-sleeping\/","title":{"rendered":"Trouble Sleeping?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/reflexologyforthespirit.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Page0004-11.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-611\" src=\"http:\/\/reflexologyforthespirit.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Page0004-11-218x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"218\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/reflexologyforthespirit.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Page0004-11-218x300.jpg 218w, https:\/\/reflexologyforthespirit.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Page0004-11-743x1024.jpg 743w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 218px) 100vw, 218px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>More and more people seem to be suffering from lack of sleep. \u00a0Stress is \u00a0 overtaking our lives, it seems. \u00a0About a third of the people I encounter are battling insomnia. \u00a0But, stress isn&#8217;t the only cause of insomnia. \u00a0Low levels of estrogen and thyroid can rob you of your sleep. \u00a0Adrenal imbalances prevent sleep. \u00a0Nutritional deficiencies contribute to insomnia. \u00a0And on and on and on&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>With this article, I offer \u00a0the first in a series of posts dedicated to suggestions you can use to assure you a better night&#8217;s sleep. \u00a0You may have some client partners \u00a0to share this information with also.<\/p>\n<p>Some suggestions may be things you already know about. \u00a0That&#8217;s okay, it&#8217;s always nice to review and update information you may have forgotten \u00a0you know.<\/p>\n<p>Other \u00a0suggestions will be new. \u00a0That&#8217;s good, too. \u00a0It&#8217;s always nice to add new skills to your tool box.<\/p>\n<p>But, whether they&#8217;re tried and true, or brand new, give them a try.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\u00a0<strong>Simplify your bedroom<\/strong>. \u00a0By that, I mean: \u00a0Move all your electronic devices out of your sleep space. \u00a0 Computers, phones, TV&#8217;s, etc., emit signals as well as lights which can disturb a good night&#8217;s sleep.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hide your alarm clock<\/strong> \u00a0under your bed or in your closet. \u00a0The last thing you need on a sleepless night is to be continually reminded of how quickly or slowly time is passing.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Regular Exercise <\/strong>\u00a0is important. \u00a0Try to get at least twenty minutes of exercise daily. \u00a0This habit\u00a0will not only \u00a0help you sleep better, \u00a0but it \u00a0will help you feel better during the day, too.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Avoid caffeine, alcohol, and tobacco in the evenings. <\/strong>\u00a0 I know this sounds super boring, but this suggestion is both real and completely spot on. \u00a0 As evening approaches, drop the coffee, and go for other\u00a0foods and beverages which are relaxing. \u00a0One of my favorite bedtime snacks is a small container of plain Greek yogurt topped with whipped cream. \u00a0 It&#8217;s nutritious, delicious, and it never keeps me awake. \u00a0If I wake up in the middle of the night, I eat this as a snack to help me go back to sleep.<\/li>\n<li>Then, there&#8217;s the old tried and true <strong>Usui Reiki Therapy. \u00a0<\/strong>When a client complains of insomnia, offer to teach him\/her Reiki. \u00a0I find Reiki to be one of the best sleep aids out there. \u00a0When I use Reiki as as way of going to sleep, I never make it through a session. \u00a0I&#8217;m always asleep in less than 20 minutes.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Develop<\/strong> <strong>winding down habits<\/strong> to help you prepare to be sleepy as you go to bed.
