What to do When it all Gets to be Too Much: Switch Off The Day

The times are overwhelming.  It’s as if everyone is “always on”.  I find that when I’m always connected, things can quit working.  When I’m always connected, I find myself staring at screens, answering every door bell and phone ring.

When things quit working, one of the most effective  things I do is switch everything off.  This includes me.  I switch off – both physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

I turn off electronic devices.  The phone goes off.  The computer shuts down.  The TV is off.  I turn off all the lights.

And, you know what?  almost everything works better after I’ve unplugged it for a few minutes.  And, that includes me.

And, then, I get in my most comfortable chair and  give myself a Reiki therapy session.

I begin the session with the symbols and three hand positions to my head.  My intention is to relax so that I won’t be so fatigued and overwhelmed.

Now…I know that switching everything off can be difficult.  In some cases, it’s impossible. I also know that there comes a time when saying “no” is not selfish.

An important lesson I had to learn as an adult is that when everybody is getting oxygen masks, we sometimes each need to get our own oxygen mask first so we can make sure everyone else is being properly cared for.

So, becoming comfortable with “no” and “off” is something that I had to learn in life.

A life lesson I had to learn was that some people stress me out.  Learning to recognize  stressor people and situations was (is) important.  Once stressors are are recognized, it is easy to avoid them.

Life is more pleasant, less complicated,  and easier when stressors are recognized and minimized.

Reiki sessions help.  Both Reiki and reflexology promote relaxation and a more positive outlook.

Emergency Reiki sessions are a dramatic improvement.  They work even better when they are a supplement to regularly scheduled Reiki therapy sessions.

What is Your Superpower?

Your superpower is present, right now, in your life.  Sometimes you may not be aware of it.  At other times, you definitely know it.  Or…maybe you don’t.

Whether you recognize your superpower is irrelevant.

It’s there when you make the right decision and then follow through with action.

It’s there when you begin a new project.

It’s there when you align yourself with a higher purpose.

One thing to understand about your superpower:  You tap into your superpower when you are developing yourself.

When you engage your superpower, you communicate better.  You use your intuitive skills, receive flashes of insight and use your intellect and tap into your spiritual pool.

Ask yourself some questions:

What does my superpower mean to me?

How does it weave itself into my life?

Where do I look for my superpower?

How do I know when I have found it?

What are some ways I can use my superpower to the best of my abilities?

One way to incorporate your superpower into your daily life is to see your potential in a project or situation, and then take action.  This can be transformational.

You use your superpower when you see a present situation and are able to understand how it is likely to develop as it matures.

Your superpower works when it reinforces your creative energy and clear mind.

If you aren’t sure how to use your superpower, set a goal for yourself and then stay focused on it until the end.

Beginning with a small project is a good way to enjoy your superpower.  When you make it real, it will carry you through to the end.

Your superpower helps you discern the difference between illusion and reality in a situation.  When you do this, you are strengthening your intellect, your intuition, and your observation skills.

Finally, with your superpower, magic is present in a small way.

Learning to access your superpower regularly is a deeply personal process of regaining your physical, spiritual, mental, and emotional balance.

Whenever you feel stressed, this is a good time to receive a Reflexology, Reiki therapy, or other bodywork session.

It’s time to ask yourself “Is there something I know I need to do?”

This channel is a good place to learn more about Reiki therapy and Reflexology.

Healthy Lunch

Do you sometimes have trouble getting through the afternoon?  Maybe it’s time to invest in a healthy lunch.

A healthy lunch doesn’t have to be just an extension of an already over packed morning.  A healthy lunch should be a  respite from the confusion and stress of the morning leading up to the lunch hour.

TAKE A WALK – Whether you work in an office, factory, retail outlet, or home, walking  is a good way to make your lunch a bit more enjoyable and healthy.  Your lhealthy lunch walk doesn’t have to be long.  Nor is it a substitute for  food.  It is a chance to change your environment and move your muscles for a few minutes.

TAKE A POWER NAP – Five or ten minutes devoted to putting one’s feet up and closing one’s eyes can change your life.  No kidding.  A few minutes sleeping in the middle of the day makes a lot of difference in the remainder of my day.  And, it can make the same difference in yours.

MAKE YOUR LUNCH HEALTHY.  Healthy, clean food can make a world of difference in how you function in the afternoon.  Basically, that means you eat foods that are food.  Boycott  chemical laden lunches which are low in nutrition and high in calories and toxic additives.

GET AWAY FROM YOUR DESK.  No matter how stressful things are, physically remove yourself from your desk for at least fifteen minutes.  Take a walk.  Chat with a couple of working colleagues.  Make a personal call or two.  Your goal is to take yourself away from the desk physically, mentally, emotionally for a few moments.

DO YOU RUN ERRANDS?  Walk them if  you can.  The exercise you get on your lunch break will refresh you physically, mentally, and emotionally.

ARE YOU ON A DIET?  Start a lunch group where you eat with other colleagues who are also interested in weight management, health, and nutrition.  You can enjoy the group socially as well as support each other as you lose weight.

YOUR HEALTHY LUNCH BEGINS WITH A HEALTHY BREAKFAST.  It’s much harder to eat a healthy lunch if you’ve skipped breakfast and are hungry and craving high-fat, high calorie, high carb foods.  A good breakfast which includes whole grains and lean proteins will serve you well throughout the morning.

INCLUDE A HEALTHY SOUP.  A healthy soup will include the protein and fiber you’ll need to get through the afternoon.  The ideal soup will be broth based and will make you feel full while  not wasting calories.

LEAVE YOUR BUILDING.  GET OUTSIDE.  Whether you are running errands, power walking, or visiting with friends, make sure you walk outside your building for a few minutes.  Take a few deep breaths.  Be outside.  Is it raining?  Snowing?  Broiling hot?  Whatever is happening outside your building, spend a couple of minutes experiencing this day.  Enjoy a couple of minutes of this escape to recharge!

No matter how stressful your day, consider how best to use your lunch time.

Go for it!
