Use the reflexology you keep in your toolbox – Part 6

One nice thing I like about reflexology:  it’s adaptable.

You don’t have to do a lot to prepare for a reflexology  session.  Don’t get me wrong.  Your session preparation can be as elaborate as you can imagine and desire.  It can include music, incense, essential oils, enfolding comforters, gentle lighting, and anything else you want to add to support your client partner.

But when the going gets tough, all you have to do is gently touch a person’s hands or feet for a few moments.  Reflexology warm-ups and warm-downs are powerful.  And there are few to no contraindications to touch a person.

And, a person doesn’t have to be lying by the side of the road to qualify for a gentle touch and nothing more.

Reflexology works well with other modalities.  I love to add Reiki therapy and chakra healing but there are many more modalities that work fine.  The choice is up to you.

On a gurney or roadside, I would certainly add Reiki but, honestly, it’s not necessary.  Reflexology will do the job quite well.

Popular reflexology holds which are appropriate for gurney or roadside situations include simply holding the person’s hands  or feet.

If I can’t make contact any other way, a hand placed on a shoulder can be effective.

I like to begin a session with a gentle solar plexus hold.  After that, I might hold the person’s heels to offer comfort and support.  Gently holding a person’s lymphatic reflexes for a  minute can bring calm.

And, truthfully, Reflexology’s job is to bring about homeostasis.  This  happens in a session, no matter the circumstances.

At your table, reflexology will generate a different result during each session.  That’s because your client is different every day on a cellular level.   This daily difference produces a unique outcome at every session.

But, no matter the circumstance, reflexology is a heavy lifter in your toolbox.  It will not let you down.  After a session, don’t waste even a minute thinking you should have done something else or touched the person’s feet or hands another way.  Your hands did the right thing at the right moment for this person.

Ear Infections are Spiritual Events

Spiritually, ear infections represent your need to not hear.  Ear infections surface where there is anger.  What is happening is that what you hear is getting to you.  What you hear is making you angry.

Bacteria, fungi, and viruses cause ear infection.  They can be excruciatingly painful.  Get medical help if your earache causes a fever and if there is a discharge.  Start treatment you experience pain in your ear.  Your goal is to ease any pain and clear up the infection.

Colds, sinus infections, and throat infections block the eustacian tuber which enable middle ear infections which can be painful.  You may feel dizzy.  You may have a discharge from your ear.  You may have a temperature.  Your glands and tonsils may be swollen.

There  are several things you can do to prevent ear infections.  Avoid second hand smoke.  Keep ear wax cleaned out of your ears.  Treat your nasal and sinus allergies and treat infected tonsils and adenoids.

Reflexology, Reiki therapy, and chakra healing sessions offer homeostasis to minimalize inflammation and normalize body systems.  Reiki therapy help with pain management and nausea.  Chakra healing is grounding.

Ear infections are a sixth chakra imbalance.

Allergy injections can reduce the number of ear infections.    In some cases, ear tube surgery helps.  Don’t smoke around people with ear infections.  Vaccinate you and your family members against the flu.

Eczema is both a spiritual disease and a way of hiding.

Spiritually, you have negative attitudes about unpleasant events in your life.  You want to hide yourself and how you feel.

Eczema is a fairly common skin condition which is become even more common.  Your skin becomes inflamed, red, and itchy, as you react to soaps, detergent, household chemicals, food, house dust, and other environmental irritants.

Eczema’s itchy patches appear on your skin before the redness.  Allergies, immune system overload and stress cause Eczema.  Flaking skin and a rash appear on your legs, hands, face, neck.

Eczema likes inner knees and elbows of children.

If the condition doesn’t improve within a week, or if it becomes infected, you need to see a medical professional.

Regular reflexology, Reiki, and chakra healing sessions will help manage its side effects during treatment.  Regular sessions will also encourage homeostasis as your body normalizes itself when immune system overload is minimized as you clean up your environment.

Eczema triggers which cause outbreaks include animal dander, anger, cleaning products, drugs, foods, fragrances, poor circulation, stress.  One of your tasks with Eczema is to identify which products are your own personal triggers.

The most common foods provoking Eczema attacks include milk, eggs, wheat, fish, and foods with soy.

A journal may help you.  Keep a diary and pinpoint some potential food and environmental triggers.  This will make your eczema experience easier for you.

Eczema happens when your immune system is overloaded so a clean environment is critical.  This includes air, your body, car, home, work place, and the water you drink and wash with.

When you clean out the toxins, your health will have a chance to improve.  When this happens, your reflexology sessions will be more effective, and you will have a better chance to manage Eczema’s side effects.

In the middle of this, try to get a little sun every day.

This information may be a bit daunting.  However, cleaning up your body and the environment where you live and work is easier than you might think.  For starters, throw out all your cleaning  supplies and cosmetics.  Replace them with non-toxic products which won’t worsen your situation.

Then, clean up your diet by cooking and eating only foods which have no artificial colors, flavors, preservatives.  Eat nothing with additives.

It has been said that health begins and ends in the color.  You may decide to have a colon cleanse followed by a liver cleanse.  The important thing is to treat your digestive disorders.

When you clean up your environment and clean out your body, it will be easier for you to cope with stressful situations.

I cleaned out my body and my home and my car and my workplace.  It was an effort but much easier than it seems.

First, I identified the products I felt were the least threatening to my body.  I did my research and identified Dr. Bronner’s soap as my household cleanser.  I chose my creams from three companies:  Dr. Hauschka, Jurlique, and Weleda.  I chose Jurlique and used it for years.  I finally switched to Weleda because I could buy it locally at Woodstock Apothecary.

But, I never replaced the cosmetics I threw out.  I decided I didn’t need them.  I’ve saved myself many hours and much money by not wasting money on or time applying make-up to my face every day.  I saved the cosmetics for parties.

Dr. Bronner’s soap worked well for me because my body liked the product.  I chose the peppermint formula and still use it every day My transition to Dr. Bronner’s was easy because the company has a “cheat sheet” with all the recipes I needed.  Dr. Bronner’s is also on You Tube.  I also liked Dr. Bronner’s because I could buy it everywhere.

I chose my first recipe when I bought a small, glass dropper bottle and filled it with Dr. Bronner’s.  I use one drop of Dr. Bronner’s soap when I brush my teeth.  (Yes, it tastes just like soap!)

My clothes experienced a transition, too.  For starters, I really now have very few pieces in my wardrobe that need dry cleaning.  (Non-existent dry cleaning bills were a nice surprise!)

I use Dr. Bronner’s to clean every room in my house.  The Cheat Sheet had all the recipes.

PREVENTIVE MEASURES

Keep damaged skin moist using an oil-based cream.  Apply emollients liberally and frequently, preferably twice daily.  Use a humidifier to moisturize dry, indoor air.

TREATMENT GOAL

If you can avoid the itch-scratch-itch cycle and prevent potential infection, your situation will improve.

OTHER THINGS YOU MAY TRY

Bathe in lukewarm water using soaps that don’t contain perfumes or dyes.  After you bathe, pat your skin dry.  Follow this with a rich, thick, moisturizing cream.

Reduce your exposure to allergens.  Allergy shots may be appropriate.

Treat yourself to about fifteen minutes of sun every day.

Constipation, a Spiritual Problem We all Have Occasionally (At Least)

Spiritually, you are stuck in the past, refusing to give up old ideas.  You hold onto safe beliefs.  Learning to release the past is an important process when you combat constipation on a spiritual level.  Fear of the unknown is definitely part of the mix.  As you move into the future, less worry and fear help.  Focus on deepening your contact with your power center.  Finally, develop feelings of self-respect.

Try to connect with your power center and respect yourself more deeply.

Some people feel three bowel movements a day is normal.  Others feel three movements a week is normal.  Infrequent bowel movements, hard stools, abdominal discomfort are common.

A low-fiber diet and dehydration contribute to constipation.  Other triggers include too much processed food, stress, not enough exercise.

Reflexology sessions comfort the digestive process.  People receiving reflexology sessions regularly claim to not have problems with bowel irregularity.

This claim is especially popular with parents of young children who have problems with bowel movements.  Children who receive reflexology sessions have a difficult time being constipated.

Constipation is a condition can require the attention of a medical professional.  isit your physician to rule out any underlying medical conditions.  This is especially true if your constipation comes on suddenly or if there’s blood in your stool.

Marge d’Urso, my reflexology teacher, taught us to expect fifty per cent of our client partners to have issues with constipation.  The good news is that the condition seldom continues as regular reflexology sessions progress.  This is true of both children and adults.  Her teachings make regular reflexology sessions the backbone of constipation resolution.

Cancer and Your Spirituality

Spiritually, few diseases have an impact as strong as cancer.  Grief eats away at your body.  Carrying past wounds makes you fearful, angry.  You attack yourself from the inside out.  Finally, you are running on empty.

Cancer is a complex and life-threatening disease.  It requires specially trained health care professionals.  Your journey to wellness will be easier and more effective if your medical knows about any and all alternative remedies you use.  Your recovery calls for conventional physicians and integrative medical techniques.  In other words, use every tool you feel will work.

Include internists, physical therapists, nutritionists, bodyworkers, healers in your wellness team.  Everyone is needed to care for you and give you a better path to success.

As with arthritis, there are many different forms of cancer.  Your reflexology, Reiki, and chakra healing sessions, received 24 to 48 hours after chemotherapy help move the medication throughout your body more efficiently.

Regular sessions offer a deep sense of relaxation, homeostasis, pain relief, and reduce stress.  If reflexology is not available, try other bodywork modalities.  They can change your cancer experience.  Safe, effective healing bodywork therapies offer nurturing in tandem with cancer treatment.

Some professions believe cancers don’t need risk factors because many people get cancer who don’t have applicable risk factors or who are not exposed to them.  This makes cancer a more spiritual set of diseases.

The location of your cancer tells you which chakras are affected.  With cancer, the chakras need to be balanced.

Prostate and rectal cancer involve your root chakra.  Cancers of your cervix, ovaries, uterus, colon, unbalance your sacral chakra.  Cancers of your stomach, liver, intestinal tract, pancreas, unbalance your solar plexus chakra.  Your heart chakra becomes unbalanced by breast and lung cancers.  Lung cancer unbalances your throat chakra as well.  Finally, brain tumors affect your crown chakra.

Skip the alcohol.  The list, it seems, is endless.

If you read this section of the book, maybe you’re taking stock of your life.  Now is a good time to search your inner self and seek those lost parts you’ve ignored for a long time.  Move them onto your front row of attention.  Nourish those feelings and thoughts.  Put them in the spotlight.  Your goal is to feel safe so you  can heal.

IMPORTANT FOODS IN YOUR DIET

There’s a correlation between fat, meat, and cancer.  Fruits, vegetables, fiber are necessary for you if you are trying to prevent or treat cancer.  Nutrition is important.

Some well known cancer-fighting foods include green tea, garlic, soy, turmeric, and ginger.  No one food can cure cancer.  But a good diet can help your quality of life while you fuel your body.  At mealtime, fill your plate with fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.

DEFENSE STRATEGIES

Living well offers protection against many cancers.  Eat plenty of fruit and vegetables as part of a healthy diet.  Exercise regularly.  Avoid tobacco and alcohol to prevent many cancers.  Get a bit of sunlight every day.  There is, however, no magic bullet.

10 Easy Ways to Live a Longer Life

Living a longer life is a commitment to a specific lifestyle which promotes good health. Your first step to living a longer life is making this commitment to long-term good health and longevity.

You begin this path to live a longer life and have long term good health when you realize and understand  you can’t just blame your genes for your health.  Your continued good health depends on developing habits and practicing  useful  things regularly that  support your commitment.

Develop your plan for a longer life now.  Plan how your life will be when you are in your 80’s, 90’s, or even 100.  Will you be alert and active with friends?  Will you be living alone?  Will you be mentally alert?

Imagine yourself as a healthy person living  a longer life.  Focus on this goal.  Be ready to make changes in your lifestyle  to achieve the results you want.

Make regular reflexology sessions a part of your life.

For starters, review  your diet.  Are you consuming generous servings of  vegetables and fruits?  Do you eat lean protein every day?  Do you eat whole grain foods, brown rice, nuts, and legumes?   (I’ll cover the diet portion of  a longevity  lifestyle in future posts.)

Meanwhile…

Take care to prevent overeating.  If you eat a proper diet in the proper amounts, you should have energy, you will slow the aging process, and you will postpone or prevent chronic diseases.

If you can prevent overeating, your body will be able to handle more types of stress, something that’s important if you are concerned about living a long life.

Develop a daily walking routine.  Walking 10,000 steps each day will increase blood flow to the brain  resulting in an improved memory.  How can you do this?  Walk more.  Walk during your lunch hour.  Take the stairs instead of the elevator.  Make it a goal to get off your seat and on your feet.  Choose volunteer activities which require walking.

Take your vitamins!  But, not just any vitamins.  You don’t want to waste your money on nutrients you don’t need.  Do  some research.  Make your knowledge current before you decide which vitamins to take.  I’ll share more information about minerals and vitamins in future blog posts.  For now, I suggest you look into vitamin D3.  Find out for yourself if  that’s a vitamin you need.    When you take your vitamins, take them with food to promote absorption.

Take an aspirin a day…if your healthcare provider says it’s okay.  I believe  aspirin in moderation on a daily basis can help prevent diseases such as heart attack  and some form of cancer.  But, again, don’t take my word on this.
