Reflexology Blog – Depression: How Reflexology for the Spirit Can Help.

“Being depressed is the most unsung source of suffering in the world. It is a disease of the soul and chemicals alone cannot heal it.” – Deb Shapiro
Depression has many causes: anger, confusion, death of a loved one, exhaustion, failure, hormone imbalance, hurt, loneliness, old age, rage, stress, trauma, unresolved feelings.
Depression becomes an overwhelming problem as a person struggles to survive and make ends meet in an increasingly complex society.
Depression can be an underlying cause of many other diseases: respiratory diseases affecting the chest and lungs, alcoholism, compulsive eating, and many other ailments.
It depresses the body as well as the mind. So it’s important to move…arms, legs, joints. Keeping the body moving when suffering with depression is important.
Incidents can trigger depression such as loss of a job, divorce, death in the family, having to move, financial worries.
A person suffering with depression needs to go to a therapist for regular visits. S/he needs to get a physical to determine what underlying causes might be involved. S/he needs to have the diet carefully scrutinized to learn what nutritional imbalances exist.
Regular Reflexology for the Spirit sessions can definitely help. Reflexology sessions work to return the body to homeostasis
When offering reflexology to a person suffering with depression, begin by working the solar plexus and diaphragm reflexes. Work the endocrine system with emphasis on the pituitary gland reflexes, the thyroid and parathyroid reflexes. Work the respiratory system with emphasis on the lung reflexes. Work the urinary system with emphasis on the kidney reflexes. Finally, work the spinal reflexes.

Reflexology Blog – Bursitis Has a Strong Spiritual Component.

Bursitis is a painful inflammation of the fluid-filled sacs surrounding joints. Joints affected by bursitis include elbows, shoulders, knees, hips, and ankles. Think tennis elbow.
Reflexology for the Spirit can offer relief.
When addressing bursitis, work the following reflexes: work the endocrine system with a focus on the adrenal gland reflexes. Work the urinary system focusing on the kidney reflexes. And work the affected joint reflexes: hip, thigh, leg, arm, shoulder. Finish up the session with a focus on the liver and solar plexus.
Bursitis has a strong spiritual component because the joints affected are the same ones that move us forward in life. When a person has a bursitis issue, questions arise:
What events in your life are making you feel stuck?
Are you having difficulty moving beyond your comfort zone?
Do you feel powerless?
Are you experiencing a loss of direction?
How overwhelming is the fear that you are experiencing?
Do you feel that you are not appreciated?
Do you need a time out?

Reflexology Blog – Arthritis: Seeking a Spiritual Solution

Arthritis is inflammation of a joint. I wrote a long post about arthritis early in this blog/book. This post will focus on the spiritual aspects of the diseases called Arthritis.
Joints are very important to us. They enable us to move through life. We move in many ways throughout the day: walking, running, jumping, pushing, pulling, carrying. Just think: without our joints we could not hug one another.
And, of course, that’s what happens when we suffer with arthritis. Arthritis reflects stiffness, rigidity, an inability to give.
For my thinking, arthritis reflects anger and criticism.
Joint inflammation tells me the sufferer is conflicted, resistant, angry with life patterns and events. The person is unable to do the things s/he wants to do and is becoming angry and frustrated.
Persons with joint stiffness are unable to express themselves the way they need to.
When I think of inflammation, I think of the build-up of toxins. So…when toxins build up in the joints, what are they exactly? Joint toxins include anger, critical attitude, frustration, bitterness, resentment.
This doesn’t mean you abandon efforts to cure these diseases. What it DOES mean is that you do everything necessary to remain active and well. You do everything possible to bring about homeostasis…including the return to a positive mental attitude. So, while you are visiting the doctor, physical therapist, yoga class, reflexology for the spirit practitioner, you need to ask yourself questions which will help you return to your normal, positive self:
What in your life is making you angry?
Is your life out of control? Who or what is controlling your life?
What can you do to make your life more receptive to positive influences?
What can you do to lessen the anger in your life?
Is forgiveness possible?
Have you lost direction or purpose in your life?

5 Improvements are to be expected from sessions to the skeletal system:
They alleviate arthritis as well as other diseases and issues.
Tension and stress are reduced, sometimes quite dramatically with repeated sessions.
Aches and pains are relieved.
Regular sessions work to restore mobility.
Because many bone issues are spiritual in nature, regular Reflexology for the Spirit sessions help heal the skeletal system on the spiritual level.

Reflexology Blog on the Skeletal System – Bottom Line Information and Essential Oils You Can Use

“There is an intimate and dynamic relationship between what is going on in your life, with your feelings and thoughts, and what happens in your body.” – Deb Shapiro
The bones in the body are interconnected. If one of them is injured the others will be affected. If a client has back, neck or shoulder pain, work all of the skeletal reflexes.
Back injuries and illnesses are strongly connected to spiritual and emotional events.
Broken bones are often highly spiritual events in the life of a person. This is especially true of broken feet, ankles, hands, wrists, etc. It’s our hands, wrists, feet, and ankles, that move us forward in life. when a person is having trouble moving forward in life or is having problems resolving a destiny issue, the result is often a broken or sprained ankle or wrist. This event allows the person a “time out” to rest, reflect, rejuvenate, before getting on with the task at hand.
Essential oils to use with the skeletal system include basil, clove, copaiba, cypress, frankincense, Idaho balsam fir, marjoram, myrrh, nutmeg, peppermint, pine, rosemary, spruce, thyme, wintergreen.
For the spiritual issues connected with skeletal injuries, diseases, Idaho balsam fir, frankincense, myrrh, and pine are good choices.

Reflexology Blog – The Skeletal System

Our skeletal system is very important to us. Without our bones, we wouldn’t have any support to shape and protect our bodies and we wouldn’t have any protection for our internal organs. Our bodies would move in entirely different ways than they do with bones. Think jelly fish.
Our bones help produce blood cells and store minerals such as calcium and phosphorus. They release these minerals when we need them.
As we age, we become more aware of the importance of our bones and joints as they begin to wear out and/or become diseased. Lucky is the person who discovers the advantages of Reflexology for the Spirit before the skeletal system health issues become too advanced.
Bone and joint health are very important to a Reflexology for the Spirit practitioner because regular sessions can impact your client partner’s well being.
If a person comes to you with a skeletal injury (back or neck pain, for instance) your skills can have a positive effect provided the person is open to Reflexology for the Spirit. However, if a person comes to you in pain and you feel that s/he wants to see a doctor, chiropractor, massage therapist, etc., send him/her along with your blessings.
People with back or neck issues have ideas about which therapy will provide the best results. Often these ideas are emotionally and spiritually based. With spinal issues, these attitudes are very important. They often determine the outcome of the therapy.

A Meditation: Journey to the stars. Find an angel.

Page0002 (2)Turn off the phone.
Close the doors.
Turn on some quiet, meditative music.
Get comfortable and relax. Breathe deeply as your entire body settles down.
You are in a very ornate elevator now…riding up. Count the floors. One. Two. Three. Four. Keep counting. Allow your breathing and body to relax. Just let go. Feel yourself relaxing and letting go. Feel yourself becoming lighter.
PAUSE
Now, as you are becoming more and more relaxed, you realize that you are not in an elevator anymore. You are in a beautiful bubble…this beautiful bubble has an iridescent shine. This bubble protects you and propels you up and up into the sky. This bubble is filled with energy of the cosmos…of heaven.
You look down below you and see tree tops, roof tops, busy highways, beautiful green meadows, patches of forest…As you travel higher and higher, you know that you’ll return to earth when you are ready.
You find yourself traveling higher and higher through puffy clouds.
PAUSE
Soon you can see the earth. You see it with a soft glow. You continue to float up, up, and away. You climb higher and higher and higher in this bubble and you begin to see stars and planets.
You begin to hear a faint sound…the sound of angels singing. You notice that you have never heard such beautiful music in your entire life. Your surroundings in the bubble are taking on a special light. You feel that you are surrounded with love, happiness, harmony, peace. You want to stay here. You feel you have come home.
Take note of what this space looks like. What colors do you see? The sounds of the angels singing and playing music are becoming more and more clear.
You begin to notice you are seeing wings and faces of angels that you feel as if you know and have known for ages. One angel steps up to you. This angel has a message for you. Quietly listen and remember what the angel has to say to you. Take note of how this angel looks to you. What are the colors surrounding this angel? How does the space inside the bubble look now? What feelings are you experiencing now?
PAUSE
This event: the angels – the message – the music – the colors – the feelings have been a blissful homecoming. You have encountered a holy space. You will remember this space to return to in the future for strength, nourishment.
You have been blessed. You accept the gifts of love, light, happiness, health, that have been given to you here.
Your bubble begins to slowly descend toward the earth. You travel through the stars and planets and clouds.
Once again you see the earth. You realize this planet needs healing and you begin to send healing thoughts, prayers, energy to the planet earth. You choose a spot on the earth and focus the energy there.
As you send energy, you envision health, wholeness, wellness, balance, unconditional love. Just as the Mother Earth has nurtures all living things, you send a healing intention to the planet earth.
You continue traveling to the planet filled with a sense of calm and peace.
As you gently return to this room, you remember the message you received. You feel refreshed, healed, rejuvenated, happy to have received your angelic message and happy to share the healing with the planet.

No Section Covering the Nervous System is Complete Without a Post Focusing on Fear

Fear is very definitely an emotion impacting the nervous system. People fear the future based on their past experiences and, for some, this includes past life experiences.
Fear is an emotion locking a person into negativity.
Fear prevents us from moving forward.
Fear is a component in issues involving our first and second chakras.
Fear prohibits trust.
Fear is a component in the saboteur archtype.
Fear does not permit a person to love.
Everyone experiences fear.
Many people visiting a Reflexology for the Spirit practitioner are suffering with fear. It manifests itself in illnesses such as back pain, insomnia, sciatica, ulcers.
So, what do we as practitioners do when we recognize fear on our table?
We do five things:
We encourage the person to seek competent medical care to treat the physical condition.
We work to make the person feel safe while on the table. When the person feels safe, homeostasis will begin to occur.
We offer guided meditations in addition to the reflexology.
We offer Reiki therapy.
As the person achieves homeostasis and begins to feel less fearful, we encourage them to keep coming to our tables – a safe haven.
Eventually the person is going to realize where the fear is coming from. Eventually the person will be ready to overcome fear.

Reflexology for the Spirit sessions can offer relief for pain’s many causes. 8 Questions to Ask the Pain Sufferer.

Pain in any part of your body is a signal that you are off balance somehow. Homeostasis needs to be returned to your body. Do not ignore your pain. It has something to say to you. Let it have a voice.
There are several questions which a Reflexology for the Spirit practitioner needs to ask the client partner:
Where is the pain?
How long have you had this pain?
How does it manifest itself? Does it “come and go”? Does the pain appear when you move a certain way?”
What color is this pain?
What does the pain feel like? Is it sharp? Is it like “pins and needles”? Is it a dull throb?
What does this pain look like?
Does this pain have a voice? What does it say?
What do you need to do to release this pain?
As a reflexology for the spirit practitioner, work the feet in such a way as to nurture the whole person: the physical, mental, spiritual, emotional, genetic person.
We know there is pain when we encounter resistance anywhere in the foot. Our job as a practitioner is to support the client partner on the journey to finding the cause, and dealing with the issues, not only physically but spiritually. We also need to help our client partners release the pain as they release the past which may be causing the pain.
The client partner needs to address the physical issues: seeing a physician, physical therapist, massage therapist is very important. As those physical issues are dealt with, the reflexologist works with mental, emotional, spiritual issues.

Reflexology Blog – Migraine Headaches Respond Favorably to Reflexology for the Spirit

A migraine is a severe headache usually affecting only one side of the head. It’s often preceded by flashes of light, a spot, or a flickering in the center of the field of vision. Nausea and dizziness often accompany migraines. Even though the causes are still unknown, a migraine is believed to be brought on by allergies, cardiovascular problems, disturbances in blood circulation in the brain, exhaustion, high blood pressure, glandular imbalance, and stress.
Migraines definitely have a spiritual component. Persons suffering with migraines are resisting the daily events of life. There is also a sexual fear inherent in persons with migraines. Learning to “go with the flow” is an important lesson here.
WORK THE FOLLOWING SYSTEMS WHEN ADDRESSING MIGRAIN HEADACHES: Work the endocrine system focusing on the pituitary gland and adrenal gland reflexes, work the nervous system focusing on the brain reflexes, work the circulatory system focusing on the heart reflex, work the urinary system focusing on the kidney reflexes.
Regular sessions will promote much needed homeostasis.
Work the solar plexus and the liver.
